James Island Emergency was the closest facility to where we were staying, and we had thorough and intentional care throughout our visit. There was no one in the waiting area when we arrived, so we were seen right away. Their check-in process is done through an iPad in your room - making it easy to complete in-between discussions with the care team and any treatment you may need. If possible, I do recommend checking with your insurance company that this location is in-network. Otherwise, your visit could end up being pretty pricey. We spent around two hours here, and although it wasn't how we thought our first day of vacation would go, we're grateful to the James Island Emergency team for being ready and available to provide meticulous care when I needed it most.

At this stage I have no problems or issues with the serviced there. They also worked with my insurance company, so the office staff did a good job too.

I also heard nurses complaining and talk terrible about a patient because they forgot I was behind curtain across from nursing station . it's not a hospital it's a giant doctors care fronting as a hospital or at least you think that by way it looks they even have the inside once you get in the back to look like a real ER but don't be fooled this is a Dr care like on every corner . Yes, this was a 5 star experience!…read more After my husband's dreadful 19 hour stint at this ER last winter (for an MRI), I just didn't want to go, but, the doctor at Urgent Cars explained that the health of my left eye was at risk. I didn't need any more convincing. I called a friend and we headed downtown to the MUSC Adult ER on Jonathan Lucas Street. The particulars of the visit would be frankly, TMI, but the terrific experience and quality of care was noteworthy. The waiting area was surprisingly empty on this late Sunday afternoon. Check in was a breeze. I was taken back to triage right away and escorted to a room where I was immediately introduced to 2 nurses. Soon, thereafter, I was evaluated by a 3rd yr ER resident and the chief. After a thorough eye examination, the resident explained next steps. A nurse gave me a shot of Versed and I was ready to go. The on-call 4th year opthomology resident appeared to perform the procedure. I called my friend to pick me up ... we went through discharge instructions ... and I was on my way. Total time from arrival to departure was about 3 hours. The time went by quickly. The ER resident checked on me several times. Everyone was kind, professional and very proficient. Obviously, this was not how I expected to spend my Sunday evening but it could have been a whole different scenario.
