One therapist was ALL ATTITUDE another didnt communicate and it was super frustrating. As a retired LMT of 21 yrs I expected better customer service and better massages. The massage rooms are cold and when I commented to the therapist how cold I was she didnt offer to turn on a table warmer (if they even have them). Instead she put on a fan! It was definitely all about her comfort and nothing about the clients! This seems to be an ongoing issue with this place. Happy customers are returning customers and Im not a happy customer. I tried chiropractic care, physical therapy, and various other massage therapist. Only 1 massage therapist has made a significant positive difference - and he lives all the way in Washington State! I scoured the internet and yelp for medical massages - I don't need the fluff of a spa or a place to relax, I needed someone to get in there and work out that pinched nerve! I needed results! I can't thank Ross enough for how much time and care she took when working on me last week. She was thorough, and had lots of tricks up her sleeves including aromatherapy and some metal scraping tools. I have never had someone use a fascia tool on me and was absolutely thrilled!! Ohhh wee....I was in pain on the table and was sore after...but the massage worked! My pain isn't as bad and for the first time in 4 months i was able to sleep on the side of the pinched nerve!! I found my GO TO massage therapist in Dallas and am considering getting a membership for a 1 hour tune up per month to see Ross. If I had a secret I could take to the grave, it would be Mark. But because Mark has become more…read morethan just my favorite masseuse in the whole wide world, I have to let the world know about him. I get lots of knots.. from sitting at a desk all day to working out all the time, my body does take a beating. People typically underestimate me because of my size and don't apply enough pressure to get out those knots. Some don't even know how to get out those knots. Sometimes I feel as if I'm receiving a routine massage from a masseuse who is just going through the notions. This does not describe Mark at all. He KNOWS the body.. he knows how the muscles lay, what each muscle is called, and how they all function together. He will immediately learn your body and customize the massage best for you. He will talk to you... but only because he truly is a teacher and can't seem to keep all that information contained. Trust me, he will provide insight on just any subject matter you're thinking of. But if you truly wish for a quiet session, just tell him to hush up and he'll be glad to do so. I'm part of his VIP program. This is one hour out of the each month I always look forward to!

I originally had my massage scheduled with Mark because all the great reviews but he called me that morning and asked if I'd be ok with Brian. I told Mark what type of massage I was looking for and he said Brian had as much experience as he did and was good so I agreed. Mark said he had a lot of paperwork to take care of. I arrived at Illume. It is truly in an apartment. It's a 1-bedroom apartment inside Illume off Cedar Springs. There is a sign outside the door announcing My Dallas Massage located inside. Parking is not good. I was told to park in the Illume signs but they were full (there are about 5 spots) so they told me to park on the street (just be careful of the no parking signs). When I arrived Brian had my get on the computer and fill out my information. I paid an extra $35 on top of my hour massage to get an extra 30 minutes so he'd have enough time to focus on my trouble spots and still do a full body massage. I think Brian would make a good "Swedish" massage therapist but for me, I prefer deep tissue and someone who can really work out my sore spots. I told Mark exactly what I was looking for in a therapist. Brian spent the first 20-30 min "stretching" me but I never got the feeling he knew what he was doing. He did not come across confident and paused and made it obvious he was trying to figure out the next best way to stretch me. None of the stretches were effective or helped. Is this what I paid the extra $35 for??? When he did the massage it was more of a "pushing" with his whole hand as opposed to getting into a spot. That's why I think he'd make a good Swedish massage therapist. When I told him none of the spots were right he just told me it was best not to make it hurt. However, I get massages about 3 times a month...I know what I like and I like someone to get in the spots and work out the knots. Maybe once or twice he did this for about 10 seconds but went back to full hand pushing. The last 30 minutes he acted, and I felt rushed! I felt like he was trying to finish everything that he had promised but realized he really didn't have enough time. Another thing I really did not like was that they use Pandora (which I love overall) for the music. HOWEVER, they don't pay the $35 for the "annual" membership so commercials keep coming on! SOOO NOT RELAXING! I can hear commercials in my car! So, I guess bring your own music if you don't want to hear commercials. And, what are they thinking posting $100/hr for a massage?? There was nothing "spa-like" about being in a one-bedroom apartment with music that has commercials. I could hear the therapist wash his hands after he's done because the bathroom is connected to the bedroom you got your massage in. And, even Massage Envy even gives me a bottle of water to take with me! Send me me to Nordstrom's Spa or Four Season's any day of the week for $100 massage so at least I can enjoy the surroundings. I have a couple great people at Massage Envy at Casa Linda that I love. I won't post their names for fear of them being recruited. After having a massage here, it makes me even more thankful that I am a member there. I learned about this place through the Adealio deal website. This experience makes me fearful of buying massages through those deal websites! I did however use Yelp before purchasing and with the 5-star rating I decided to jump on it. I hope more people post on different therapists. I waited to post my review until after my mom had her massage yesterday. I told her to make sure she got Mark. She said Mark was a really good massage therapist, HOWEVER, and READ THIS - She said that he seemed like he'd rather own the "business" and have other massage therapists do the massages and would possibly take himself off the schedule. Now I know why he didn't want to do my massage. Also, just so you know...I contacted Mark via text (The way we communicated to arrange the massage) and told him a little about my experience and that I'd be happy to talk with him about it but he never contacted me back. So, I'm not just posting this on Yelp without telling him my experience first. Hope this helps you in your decision to purchase a massage from My Dallas Massage if you see it on a deal website. Buyer Beware!!!
