They have incredible instruments, with great setups, and perhaps the legendary expertise and integrity in the string musical instrument business and recoginzed for their specialty, THE Upright Bass shop in America. They have a huge collection of the most prestigious and wonderful basses in the country and perhaps the world. Over the years they have accumulated vast collections of vintage basses and have done top quality restorations of the pedigree instruments they sell. Their repair shop is unequaled in handing repairs, and they do tonal work on instruments, including re-tuning and graduating tops. They also service the student market with quality rentals and lower end instruments. The thing is, the student gets a quality instrument with a top quality setup, strings, and that is very important and valuable. A real specialty, Barrie has a number of bows started out of these Permanbuco bow started by his father, and finished by Barrie. These represent incredible opportunities to get a bow of a lifetime. No one has ever been sorry they did business with Kolstein Music.

I ordered rosin from the 26th of February, and the website said there would be a 3 week delivery…read morewait. After three weeks, the rosin still didn't arrive. April 6th came, and it FINALLY arrived. IT TOOK AROUND 7 WEEKS. Turned out they packaged CELLO ROSIN. I WAITED 7 WEEKS, FOR 2 PACKS OF ALL WEATHER BASS ROSIN FOR $70, AND I GOT CELLO ROSIN. Needless I am very upset and disappointed in Kolstein. My friend told me they were reliable in the past, but they have completely failed me. Might be because of their legal issues with their lost equipment.

I stopped by the other day to take a look at some of their electric guitars and amps. I loved that…read morethey had the exact Boss and Katana amps that I have been wanting to try out and add to my setup. The staff here is super friendly and helpful. They answered all of my questions about the amps and even let me me try a few of their super expensive and rarer guitars they had. While I didn't end up purchasing any of the amps, I did buy a very solid and affordable guitar capo. I use it on the daily and it's held up to my abuse thus far. Pro tip: When going to a music store and wanting to try a few things out, make sure to not wear a jacket or hoodies with zippers, as those can easily scratch the back of a guitar or instrument. I learned this when I was 16 and got yelled out right before picking up a new guitar

One day I had an issue with my bass because there was buzzing sounds when you play the first 5…read morefrets. I took my bass to be fixed here. They were telling me things like if I don't know what's actually wrong with the instrument. They said I need new strings and they replaced the strings and charged me for replacing them which I could have done myself. The buzzing isn't as bad as how it was before. But one suspicious thing is that they put the strings in the wrong spot. Hopefully they don't judge by race and age. But the strings are in the wrong spot. Now I never told them because there's no point of arguing but I'm never going back there again.
