As a second generation music store owner myself, one of the things I like to do when I'm traveling is look up small, local music stores and pay them a visit so I can see how they operate. In my short time hanging out at Carere Music, I witnessed Jeanne demonstrate her great knowledge of the music business and deal with all sorts of situations with the utmost professionalism: selling and renting good quality musical instruments to eager students, young and old; taking in musical instruments for repairs; helping people find new owners for their musical instruments by selling them on consignment; teaching flute students of all ages, improving their playing on a daily basis. Jeanne obviously has a passion for teaching! After hearing Jeanne's incredible flute sound and impeccable sense of pitch on the piccolo it's no wonder she's first call for all sorts of high level concerts all over the Southeast. My mother played the flute/piccolo chair in the North Carolina Symphony, so I know a world class player when I hear one. Every flute and piccolo player in the Atlanta area should be taking lessons with Jeanne! Jeanne, her staff, teachers, and repair people are all professional musicians with a great love for music and are deeply engrossed in the local music scene. The repairman really knows his stuff and works so efficiently he has the fastest turnaround time in the area! Everyone was super friendly and giving of their time. One if the sax teachers took his horn out and played a few tunes with me. He was able to tell me where all the jazz jam sessions take place and give insights on what goes on at each one. I will definitely be back to Carere Music any time I'm visiting or traveling through the Atlanta area!

I moved here from Detroit in 1981 when I was 17 and I would walk a mile or two just to sit in the guitar room and play guitars and different amps and knew I got the best deal on the best gear. This is definitely my favorite music store not only because the gear is always accessible and priced right, but because Robert and Marilyn have ALWAYS greeted me with a smile. However, if you need to make a change to your billing information associated with lessons or music rentals, it cannot be done online, only over the phone. When you call, expect at least a 30-minute wait for "customer service". I finally called the store, and they were able to correct my billing information for lessons but not the rental. Then I had to spend another 30 minutes trying to get the instrument rental billing fixed. I finally just paid off the instrument balance so I wouldn't have to deal with them again. Finally, the way lessons are handled is a complete scam. Prior to the acquisition, if you needed to cancel a lesson in advance, you were not charged. Now you are charged regardless of when you cancel. You can "make up" the lessons, but this is nearly impossible during the summer when multiple weeks of lessons are being missed. The teacher doesn't have the flexibility to do that many make-ups. In short, it is a total scam. We will be looking for a new lesson location.

This company is wonderful. I found them online and had my 1962 Cleveland French horn refinished to…read morebrand new status and bought a case from them as well. I would recommend them highly. It's a beautiful instrument. They bake on the finish rather than the cheaper method, which supposedly is the better way to go And cost the same amount of money so there's no built-in obsolescence when you buy a brand new instrument they put the worst finish on those and they don't bake it normally because they want you to buy a new instrument every 10 or 20 years. Another thing to know is Auld instruments are best to purchase and get refinished, because the brass is brand new and not garbage brass like the new instruments are made. If you do have an old French horn or instrument take it and compare it with brand new ones at the store and you'll find that your old instrument sounds much better than the new ones do - it's amazing! The reason being is the brass is old and new and not recycled and made from old brass it's made from brand new brass that was never used before and recycled. It's the recycled brass. It's no good. It doesn't resonate anymore or as well as the new old brass.!!! Purchase an old instrument and have it made like new again and we sure will be very happy with that or use your old instrument yourself that you've already had for so many years!

She is very talented in her style of teaching- my kids really respect her. She has a beautiful voice and knows how to bring out the best voice in her students. My oldest son, 16, is very talented on piano and loves to perform, but would never practice on his own. Now, Ms. Grace is teaching him a whole new way to work from chords and interpret the music- he is finding a new love for the piano and practicing on his own! Yes, you did read correctly, she is their voice teacher and a great one, but she is so much more. She didn't want his talent in piano to be lost and got him playing while he sings- making Dad, Mom & Nana quite happy!!! My daughter, 13, has a naturally beautiful voice, but has really blossomed under the training of Ms. Grace. It turns out that the voice training has also been wonderful for my daughter's overall confidence. She also mentioned to Ms. Grace that she had a guitar, but had never learned to play. Of course, Ms. Grace now is teaching her guitar too. My youngest son, 11, has disabilities that affect his speech. One day he told me he wanted to take voice lessons too. I approached Ms. Grace about it, and she said "yes" without hesitation. He is definitely improving and I believe it is also helping his speech. His confidence is also on the rise as Ms. Grace is always proud of him and he just loves her. Our family feels very blessed to have found Ms. Grace and the Gwinnett School of Music!
