My four older children developed a lifelong passion for band and music because of this lovely store. Henson's family run music store is deeply missed in Camarillo. The Camarillo music store staff helped my four children survive and thrive after the death of a sibling. Music helped my surviving children so much! Music can be so healing. Music helps students academically in math and reading and to focus well when children play instruments beginning in fourth grade or sixth grade through twelfth grade. Playing in band or orchestra helps students be organized and concentrate. it improves self esteem too. Again, music helped to save my four surviving children emotionally. Thank you to the wonderful Henson family! It is truly rare to find such knowledgeable and caring staff in a special family music store. There are many young sales people at other music stores who seem to lack the ability to care about other human beings or develop any concern to learn much about instruments. It appears to be just a job for these sales people. Tried their ukuleles and had fun learning tricks on strumming. I'm a new Ukulele player and don't use picks normally but wanted to have some on hand for days when I want to strum loudly or when my fingers are too sore. A week later I came back in and brought my favorite ukulele to show them and play for them. Had so much fun there. They made me feel like family!

Started the process of re-learning the guitar (acoustic in my case) after many years away…read more Discovered Charlie, a local teacher, and decided to give him a try. Charlie was patient, friendly, knowledgable and methodical in his approach helping me to begin to master some of the foundational basics, while also providing insights into music theory. He is a multi-talented musician who plays more than just guitar and his teaching style and pace worked well for me as an adult. The one thing I would do differently is to take 1-hour lessons from the start versus 30 minute session. That was a poor decision on my part. While my initial time learning with Charlie was fairly short due to some other commitments of mine that disputed our ongoing schedule, I learned a reasonable amount during the time we worked together and could go back again when time permits.

I think she's one of the owners and walked me through the store and explained all sorts of classes they offer. I'm interested in Tahitian workshop that they newly added and once I figure out my schedule I would love to join the class. She explained that all the instructors are very culturally correct and that's very important to me when it comes to learning. The floor has a pretty large space enough for probably 10-15 students to dance in. I would love to watch the drumming as well. As for the Tahitian class, I was told that they have anywhere from 5-10 drummers and that's very exciting! I can't wait to see/hear it soon! I parked in the next block but I saw plenty of street parking and it's right on Main St. and was easy to find. It totally took me instantly back to my Burning Man experiences...can't wait till that either...

"THEY DON'T STAND BY THE OLD STUFF...."…read more I bought a very nice used EUB-1. One of the tuning mechanisms broke. I sent 2 emails, with photos, to this place and never heard back. I finally called and explained my situation. The person on the phone told me to look online for something similar. They built the thing. Really, no records of what they bought? It would have been nice to provide the hole measurements at least. Fortunately, a guitar repair shop in Berkeley found an almost identical replacement, no thanks to the people who built the instrument in the first place. I guess they couldn't be bothered to help someone out with an old instrument. Not much money in it, but there's something about standing behind your instruments, even after the sale has placed money in your pocket!

This program is absolutely amazing. My son has been going to LadyBug Music since he was about six…read moremonths old, and absolutely loves the music, loves the teachers, enjoys how interactive it is with all the parents, enjoy spending time with the other kids that are older and younger. He even recognizes the music now! The welcome song is one of his favorites, and when I sing it at home, he taps along to it. This program is for everybody, not just music lovers, not just moms, and not just the babies... You are not stuck with the traditional nursery rhymes that can get a little tedious after a while (let's be honest). The music is actually really good, and super catchy! Fair warning, you will 100% have the songs stuck in your head. Luckily it's good! When we moved to Ventura County from LA, I wasn't sure how the transition would go with my almost one year-old. But knowing that there was a LadyBug Music program out here, made me feel so much better! We loved it in the valley, and out here it has made a little community for us as well. I look forward to going every single week. And I know my son gets really excited when we are walking in. It's like he already knows that he will get to play with Musical instruments, see and play with other kids, and even get some dancing in! We love this program so much. I could not recommend it more!

We have taken three sessions starting at the age of 6 months till she is now almost three. Over that time my child has learned to clap with the music, shake the shakers, drum with sticks and dance to a rhythm and have an overall great time with music. Emily is a great teacher who interacts with each child, plays guitar an and sings. We go through about eight different songs per class and each song has an interactive element. I would highly recommend this class for young children. My child's love for music has blossomed because of this class.
