Our son Jack is ten years old and has been taking lessons from Hayden for almost a year now. Hayden comes to our house, and they play in the living room, which is valuable for Jack to be in the comfort of his own home while learning. The music we then get to hear around the house is amazing and another bonus of the lessons. They started out with simple things on the guitar, and Hayden obviously has a natural gift, beyond his incredible musical talent, for engaging with his students in a fun and patient way. Jack always looks forward to his lessons every week, and in addition to the guitar, he has now even been able to play harmonica and ukulele recently with Hayden, even playing harmonica at the same time as guitar. Hayden is able to break things down into simple terms for kids (and adults : ) from an obvious genius for music, how it works, and its place in the world. No other teacher we've encountered encourages and teaches singing, as well as Hayden does, along with the guitar, and Jack has begun to take strides with singing under Hayden's positive encouragement and guidance too. As parents, we are incredibly grateful to have discovered Hayden and cannot imagine a better musical teacher for our son. Hayden is my 7 year old's ukulele teacher, and we couldn't be happier. She started with him about a year ago and has progressed significantly under his guidance. My son Tristan wanted to learn how to play guitar as well as sing. Every other school we took him to only taught guitar or vocals as separate classes with different teachers. Hayden was the only teacher we found who could teach both guitar and vocals in the same lesson. It literally cost us twice the price at the other music schools for two different teachers who were not even 1/2 as skilled as Hayden. He also comes to our home, saving me a drive across town in traffic and an 1hr wait in the music school parking lot. The best part is it sounds like a live band is performing in my living room. Hayden plays a drum called the Cajon while my son plays guitar and sings. From the very first lesson my son Tristan was learning how to play with a drummer. Having drums also made the lessons way more enjoyable for Tristan. Before when we dropped Tristan off at the other music school we never heard anything cause they went in to a room and shut the door. So we never really knew if he was learning or not. Eventually he started to loose interest cause they were not teaching him songs he wanted to learn, so he quit practicing. Now that Tristan has been taking lessons from Hayden for the past 5 years, he now plays 4 instruments and sings beautifully. Hayden is an amazing teacher and is worth 10x more than what he charges. I'm 28, and Hayden helped me rekindle my love for music like I was in high school all over again. We do 30-minute sessions on Zoom once a week. The sound and video quality are latency-free. I use a blue yeti and my laptop for every lesson. My internet speed is 100 MBPS. It is working out well. For us, 30 minutes means I have a song I want to refine or learn. If I come empty-handed, then he has a lesson for me. He is attentive about how I play the guitar and sing. He provides constructive feedback, and we drill it again. We go over a little theory relating to the song and connect concepts from one piece to another. That way, I understand what I am doing. Then I get a little homework/suggestions to work on between lessons. I may be tooting my own horn, but I feel and hear progress in my musical skills. My wife says so too lol. read more

Hayden is a gifted musician and an amazing teacher, especially for children (although I'm sure he's great with adults too)! My daughter started taking guitar lessons from a well known, local music shop in town, but it was *very* slow. They were very technical, first teaching her all the notes, one by one. Months later all she could play on her guitar were basics like Mary Had a Little Lamb, which was kind of boring for her. Hayden came by recommendation of a friend and he was such a great change! His method is that, rather than get really technical from the start, he teaches the child to play almost any song using chords. Once they learn that they can play all their favorite hits, he'll go back and teach the more technical aspects, but by then the child is really motivated and loves playing, so they're more invested in learning. My daughter has learned everything from Green Day, Adele, to Nirvana, Lorde, and A Band Called Perry. He'll often ask her if there are any new songs that she wants to learn - she loves being able to play/sing almost any song that she hears on the radio! There was a time in the very beginning where I think she was testing him and asked if he could help her learn the Pokémon theme song (or something ridiculous like that). I cringed in embarrassment listening to this from my kitchen, thinking he must think I don't teach my kids ANYTHING about good music...of ALL the songs...Pokémon? Ugh! Rather than turn her down or discourage her request, Hayden found the song on the internet and SURE ENOUGH, taught her how to play it with a few chords. This tells you something important about Hayden that I think is very unique - he has a way of engaging with kids that really wins the child over and draws them in. He values their input, listens to them, he's patient with them, he jokes appropriately with them, he becomes their friend and is such a positive influence on them! Not only has he made guitar fun for my daughter, but he has really helped her learn how to use her voice as well. When she first began playing guitar I questioned if she should maybe switch to piano (haha - an instrument where you don't have to sing along as much). I have been amazed in the course of the past year and a half at how much her singing voice has changed. He has really helped her refine her tone and learn to control her voice....it's really beautiful to listen to that evolution, even more so from the comfort of my kitchen (while I'm cooking dinner). My daughter has developed such confidence working with Hayden! She does not shy away from performances at school - talent shows, choir, musicals, you name it, she'll get up there alone and share her voice and music. I can't say enough about Hayden! Hayden is an excellent instructor. I initially saw that he works a lot with young kids, but he does very well with we "mature" adults as well. He is patient, provides a good mix of basics as well as songs that can be played with starting skills. His playing along with you also really helps you to get the rhythm and tune of the song, when you are first starting. He has a good sense of humor, but also focuses on producing results. The fact that he comes to your location works out well too, makes it convenient and comfortable. About a year and a half ago I was looking for a distraction from video games for my son Ryan who really loves video games and who is pretty shy and introverted. I was thinking that he's really good with those thumbs and perhaps he could be just as good with a guitar. Then we met Hayden (yay). I explained the situation and Hayden agreed to lessons w Ryan. At first I was thinking this was way too painful as Ryan really didn't want to participate and I figured that Hayden was dreading every second of lessons but not the case at all. Hayden is always positive and encouraging as he shares his incredible talent and love of music with Ryan. Ryan has shown progression in his skill, but more importantly, he's opened up so much and expresses himself way more than he did before lessons. I often hear him humming tunes that he is working on with Hayden, he walks around snapping his fingers and displays a greater sense of rhythm. I am so grateful for Hayden.
