There is really not a bad seat in the house and I have sat everywhere here (my kid does community theater and uses this space as well). The seats are comfy too. It is a small theater but seats about 300+ but have also seen a show in the tiny black block downstairs (another space I love and very intimate). The location cannot be beat with tons of parking and a few dining options in various price ranges for pre- or post-dining and/or drinking. The Mosesian space is lovely and the New Rep is a wonderful theater experience without having to trek into the city.

The Mosesian theater seems very small & intimate, but holds nearly 350 people. The theater was very clean & modern, like a modern movie theater, with a low stage. Everything still seemes new. The seats were roomy & comfortable, with ample leg room. The seats are stadium style, and at a pretty good incline, so no tall people can block your view. Plus you are looking down at the stage. The first row of seats is close to eye level with the performers, as the stage is about 12-18 inches off the ground. The girls don't work towards a recital, they learn technique and will run through many different dances until together they decide what will be their final performance piece. Every year at the end of the recital someone will come up to me and say; "in our old studio the recital was much nicer... the level was higher...". Could be... I can't compare, but, Ms. Melissa isn't about the show. Ms. Melissa is about opportunities and making sure every single girl get her moment center stage. Restrooms are in the back and even though at the end of the show the women's had a long line but it moved fast. There are 17 stalls so that definitely helps move the line. There is a merch counter and a bar. The bar closed at the end of the show, so if you're looking for drinks or water make sure to get them during the show. Overall we had a great time!

The performers are vibrant, and experienced. The shows make you as the audience, react, think, and feel for the characters on stage. The seating area is not terribly huge, better described as moderate, so you will never have a bad view of the stage. The rest rooms are in the basement, and they seem decently sized. I used one before the show, so there was no crowd, but I can imagine that becoming a bottle neck at intermission. The theater company may not have a ton of control over the physical restrictions of the building, but they have total control over the quality of their productions, and they do a great job of turning them up to 11. Most people think of Symphony Hall, and the Museum of Fine Arts when they think of outlets on Huntington avenue, but they are overlooking a great, artistic resource conveniently located on the Avenue of the Arts.

They use the whole theatre in their productions, you never know which aisle a character will run down or dance across (at least that has been the norm for the past 4 seasons). My children have enjoyed every production they have attended from Peter Pan to Pippi Longstocking. They actors, novice and professional alike, really do a fabulous job on and off stage. I remember my little guy was afraid of the pirates in Peter Pan, we decided to leave early and happened upon the pirates waiting to enter through the door we were trying to exit. He freaked out a bit until the a couple of the pirates took off their beards and eye patches and explain to him that they were pretending. They didn't have to do that but they did and it helped calm his fears. I love that they break traditional casting norms, for instance: one bearded pirate in Peter Pan was a woman; Marilda in Anne of Green Gables was black and Matthew, her brother, was white; in Pippi, Mrs. Settergren is black while her children, Tommy and Annika, are white; in The Wizard of Oz , Glinda was Asian and pregnant. The shows are affordable, and accessible. The theatre is conveniently located near the Longwood Medical Area and I'd suggest parking in a nearby garage as opposed to taking your chances on The Riverway.

If you go to the Waltham Public Library, walk over to Spring St., look down the road and where your blindspot is, that's the theater. It is a hidden gem that takes a bit to find, but worth the look. At the entranceway, you'll find you typical, small theater atrium before you descend stairs into their lair. The theater itself is a small space, but very, very well used. And this production was no exception to that. Stopkiss has everything going for it, from the direction, to the acting, to the choice of lights and music (I gave my friend crap for one song, but it was only because it gave me visions of a Spanish Soap Opera at a crucial time in the show, not ruining, but adding a bit of levity to an otherwise melancholy moment). The cast is fantastic, with strong moments of acting coming from everyone, and I mean everyone, in the cast. The two lead actresses Jennifer McCartney and Gabrielle Hatcher steal the show, from what, I'm not sure, and are very well supported by Michael Soulios, Jason Rutledge, Andrew Boncoddo, Carolyn Cafarelli, and Melanie Bernier. Tatiana Rutledge has maintained her keen eye and artistry and only shown strong strides of development in her role as director of the show. I went to an open class after years of taking off dance. There were quite a few people in a small…read morespace. The class was difficult but I kept up somewhat. Most were younger adults (where I'm almost 50). Everyone was nice and the instructor choreographed a beautiful routine. I just wish I was in better "dance shape" to have kept up. I mistook "open" for beginner and I would not say it was a beginner class. You need to know basic terminology of dance to keep up at all. If they ever offer a beginner class I'd be apt to come back.
