Review Highlights - New Repertory Theatre

After visiting the New Rep for a so-so production of Steve Martin's 'Picasso at the Lapin Agile,' the real star of the show was the snazzy New Rep theater itsel

There is a balcony area if you wish to pay extra for your ticket as well, but it is a bit farther from the stage so if you want up close and personal, go GA and get there early. Limited street parking, but ample garages very close that charge $20 for event parking. Departing was quicker than a lot of venues I have been to from garage just up the street. Security and staff are quick to process and get you in. May want to pregame as drinks are a bit spendy here. Restrooms set off from the floor with dedicated entrance and exit to make the traffic flow good. Good smaller venue to get up close and personal for a show.

First time at Roadrunner for the LANY concert! The venue is nice capacity around 3500. The high ceilings make it seem huge. The stage is large and spacious too. They had this red billowing curtain covering for the opening acts before the main band. Sound was great. Also the lighting effects for the different songs was good. We were quite close to the stage so had a great view. Great show! Restrooms are in the back and even though at the end of the show the women's had a long line but it moved fast. There are 17 stalls so that definitely helps move the line. There is a merch counter and a bar. The bar closed at the end of the show, so if you're looking for drinks or water make sure to get them during the show. Overall we had a great time!

We scheduled a private class with two members of the Rogue Burlesque troupe (Brandywine and Lily…read moreBordeaux) for a friend's bachelorette party. It was absolutely awesome! They were such great instructors and the class was really well structured - they covered everything from basic moves to walks, personas and twirling tassels. They kicked it off with a routine (which blew our minds and also gave a good introduction to those who hadn't seen burlesque before) and talked about burlesque as a celebration of sexuality, art, performance, etc. They coached us through practicing all the moves. It was very comfortable, not embarrassing at all. And so much fun, especially if you have a couple drinks before. The instructors rented a dance studio at the Armory in Somerville, which was a great space. I would highly recommend ensuring that the studio you rent has a mirror. I can't imagine doing the class otherwise, it really helps to see what you're doing! If you go to the Armory, check out Highland Kitchen for drinks before - it's just a couple blocks away and has an awesome cocktail menu. We only had two thoughts that they could do to improve the class - one would be to write out a list of tips for us to leave with, so we don't forget (they had so many great pointers it was hard to remember them all). And the other was maybe to teach us a routine. The end of the class was just freestyle (which was totally fun), but we agreed that it would have been fun to learn a short routine.

Ms. Sassy and Ms. Kitty came to my hotel where I was throwing a Bachelorette. On time, friendly,…read morecomfortable...they were both super nice and led a brilliant class. The group learned how to walk, shimmy, trace, and bump according to our newly acquired personas and ended up in tassel-filled dance party. Reasonable private lesson rate and very professional. If you are having a party and want to do something different, hire Rogue Burlesque...they were amazing!
