I've been coming here for the occasional repair of pro audio equipment for over a decade. This just so happens to be one of the major repair centers in the South Bay, if not the only one. Unfortunately, since my first woofer re-cone here over 10 years ago, no much has changed. It may just be my luck, but it seems as though whenever I drop something off I get the "Peter will be out of town for a few weeks, he'll look at it when he gets back" talk from his assistant. This is perfectly fine, everyone needs a vacation! But it seems as though repairs slow to a halt when he's gone. My usual turnaround here has been 3-4 weeks. My last repair issue with him was extremely frustrating. I brought in a powered speaker that had more of a mechanical issue, which I displayed to him and his assistant multiple times. They claimed to replace the woofer but the problem persisted. On the 3rd try they replaced a random XLR connector and called it done, although the speaker still buzzes and rattles like crazy. It seems as though they gave up on solving the actual problem. Due to this failed repair attempt and overall slow turn around times, I won't be back. read more

I started looking for a place to repair my Roland d70 keyboard and came across this place. Most of the reviews were not that flattering, but I decided to go with Peter anyway. I am so glad I did. Peter was very communicative through text. He gave me an estimated based on what I though was wrong with the keyboard. Weights have falling out and the backlight needed to be replaced. I was in constant communication because a few things were happening in life at the time. I dropped it off. He said it would be a few days. He called me later to tell me the backlight was on backorder. What's a few weeks when I have not played this thing in 5 years. The light came in sooner than what he said and came below his estimate. I picked it up. Tested it. Sounds great! The only small thing to be aware of is the electronic receipt. It does not say Musician Service Center it says Service. You may think it's spam and delete it like I did. Also, you can't go wrong with a 60 day warranty. Great job Peter! read more

I had a Roland keyboard that was hard to fix properly. I spent a fair amount with him trying to fix it; he told me it might not be successful but he would try. He was right, it only partially was fixed. After several rounds of trying to get it fixed, and much to my total amazement, he then gave me a newer and better model of the same Roland at no additional charge! I'm sure that isn't normal for him, but I really appreciate the service. No store would ever do that for you. I am very appreciative!! I also agree with some of the other reviews here saying that he can be slow and doesn't always return calls. Hours are restrictive and he is gone a lot. Just be patient, he knows what he's doing. read more

He ruined my Kaoss pad beyond repair and is now ignoring my phone calls because he knows I'm going to rip him a new one (or take him to small claims). Don't go here if you love your instruments. This pIace is a nightmare. I took my Mixer in a year ago to get the audio out fixed. A simpIe job that coast me 100 bucks and stiII doesn't work. He goes on vacation often and aIways says the parts are backordered. I'd go to pick up the mixer and it wouId be Iocked in storage so the kid working the counter couIdn't give it to me. He doesn't answer the phone, and wiII teII you that. You have to Ieave a message and he wiII caII you back. ReaIIy? When I got my mixer back I noticed that not onIy was the probIem not fixed but he Iost a knob. When I took it back is was another huge ordeaI to get him to repIace the knob and took months. Couldn't be happier with Peter and his work. He fixed the well known humming vibrating PSU issue with my Matrix 1000. He first tried to find a replacement PSU but being a part from 1985, the replacement he did find exhibited the same issue. So he reluctantly replaced it with a new modern one and took the time to research how to do the mod. He wanted to keep it as vintage if possible which i really respected. In the end I am really happy and it sounds amazing. He did return calls and emails, but its a small and very busy shop, so be patient. Happy! read more

He used to be the man when he was on 2nd street in the back of a dj shop and also when he moved to Tully. But after he moved to Meridian, he just lags and does a semi decent job. I took my ns 10's for repair and it took months.. he said he called me months ago but i know he was lying.... I had also took my mpc there a few times and again a month or so. How am i supposed to work. he quotes a week or 2 at most and takes months. So what i did, was just order my own parts and told him to just do the job and even that took a week. read more

wow, I'm surprised no one has reviewed this place yet as it seems like it has been there a while and gets business. Last year I had a JBL Eon G2 blow out the high speaker. I called around for quotes and these guys were the most reasonable of any authorized shop. The main tech there was friendly and explained what needed to be replaced after paying a reasonable estimate (which went towards the repair cost). I must warn that he told me in advance the part was on back order and that he was going on vacation, so the repair took a couple months but I was in no hurry. the repaired speaker now works great again even though it was abused in a previous life. read more

I have a Roland HPD-10 that took a spill. The mono input snapped off the board. Musicians Service Center had it fixed within 24 hours. Excellent, the HPD-10 works perfectly. This place is a great find that I will recommend to other musicians. read more

First off, he is not honest. And that's probably the worst thing for a repair shop, and I feel like he tried to take advantage of me. He claimed my unit didn't power on (based off a miscommunication) but it did in fact power on before I took it in, that wasn't the issue. So he told me he got it powered on again (woah) tried to sell me a new power supply (which I had replaced already). Then he told me the full repair would be very expensive, and quoted me something that a google search for the component proved absurd. Maybe was banking on my ignorance, which made me feel worse. When I got my unit back, it was in worse condition than when I brought it in (Dust, dirt, scratched, etc) and he even took some original parts from my unit and replaced them with knockoffs. When I asked him about this and gave him a chance he lied. Altogether not a great experience and he was rude during our communication. Unfortunate because I have more equipment to fix. Would sadly not recommend because I can't trust him. read more

I recently broke my Moog Prodigy Synth, and had to get it repaired quickly. At first, I was worried about finding someone local who could fix vintage music equipment from the late-70s. After some searching on the internet, I found this music repair shop in San Jose. They fix all kinds of vintage and new equipment. Wow, my Moog has never sounded better! They completely cleaned the circuits, knobs, and body. The synth sounds even fatter than before. Turn around took a couple of weeks, because the keyboard needed a new part that had to be ordered. The price was very reasonable. If you have a vintage synth that needs to be repaired or cleaned, this place comes highly recommended! read more

I have a Korg Triton that has a broken key and a broken button right before a big week end gig. I took it in and ask the tech for a rush repair, he explained to me that he will check and if he has the parts in stock , he will fix it ASAP, otherwise it could be up to 4 weeks or more if parts is on back order from the factory. He call me back an hour later and told me he has the part, I pick up the keyboard the next morning and they did not even charge me the rush repair. Very happy customer, thank you guys. read more

Don't take anything to this guy. He doesn't call you back, takes his sweet time about an estimate. Changed from a $35 look at fee to $65. I reported it to Tascam and told them I would never recommend this shop. Very bad customer service. I could go on and on, but heed my warning. read more

I have an old and/or obscure brand of electronic keyboard (Kaysound), and these guys are the only ones around I've found who fix this kind. Repairs take a while, but I'm also not usually in a hurry so I don't push; maybe if I did things would get done more quickly. Sure would be nice if there were a similar shop closer to the East Bay! read more

I have a Yamaha s910 with a faulty key. Took it in for repair and was quoted a price. Next day it was fixed, same price as quoted, and ready for pick up. Great job done in record time with extra cleaning thrown in. Good to know there is a service like this available . Recommend highly. read more

I live in stockton 68 miles one way and been taking my general music keyboard wk6,wk8se,sk76 and music equipment to be services or fixed in the early 2000, the reasons I take my equipment that far is he does it fast and never has a problem with the services. I wish he was in stockton because his services is needed in stockton, there's a lot of musician here to. It is worth the drive when I know its going to be services right. read more
