This is a great setting to hear live music. Whomever vets the bands does a tremendous job as I've never been disappointed with the cover bands including Kashmir and Broken Arrow to name just two. Craig Thatcher's band is usually there a few times a year also, providing their great interpretations of blues rock classics. The food is reasonably priced and just decent bar food, but you can always grab dinner elsewhere and just come for the show and drinks. All in all a great night out. read more

It's fun but it is too loud somehow. I had earplugs in and the loudness still hurt my ears. Bring earplugs to any shows!

Awful service, our waitress came around maybe a grand total of 5 times for the 3 hours we were there, which could very well be because we only got water, so she assumed she wouldn't need to return to bump up our bill with a constant flow of alcoholic beverages. .She came to the table to take out orders for appetizers, for entrees, to refill our water twice (in a 3 hour night) and to leave us our bill and pick it up. She didn't even ask us if we were interested in dessert, nor after received our entrees (by a different server), she never came back to ask us even once how the meal was. Got pierogies and she got the hummus platter, which was passable, its hard to screw that up. The pierogies were oddly served with sauteed onions, but were not sauteed themselves, and were chewy like fried. I concluded that they were frozen or reheated, because they would've only been sauteed if they actually cooked the pierogies. For our entrees, I ordered pesto pasta with "blackened" chicken. Apparently at the Musikfest cafe, "blackened" has a different definiion means to coat the chicken in red pepper. The menu gave NO indication that this food would be spicy, and it was the most outrageous combination I've ever eaten at a restaurant. The spice on the chicken essentially destroyed the pesto, it basically became a red pepper pasta dish. I was tempted to have them return it and ask for something else, but my dinner mate ordered a black bean burger, only to find out hers was incredibly spicy too. She even asked for the chipotle mayo on the side, and this VEGETARIAN burger itself was still SPICY. Yet again, nothing on the menu indicated it would be spicy aside from the mayo. So we both figured the odds of us ordering something that wasn't a salad would be spicy was high, so we didn't bother asking to return it (and if you read above, you'll see that we weren't even given enough attention by our waitress to be able to). Don't get me wrong, I love Musikfest and want they do for the community, but that doesn't give them an excuse to expect me to satisfy a $10 minimum per person in addition to the high price I paid to see a concert for abyssmal service and food. In conclusion, come for the music, but don't expect decent food or service. Don't be fooled the upscale scenery and menu style that most restaurants like to use nowadays to charge you more. It may not be bad quality ingredients, but its made by bad quality chefs so its bad all the same. read more

Went to see Tab Beniot last night. He was great, the food was as bad as everyone says. Just God awful! The waitress was nice.

First the good: this is a great place to see a show! Intimate yet open space with spectacular views of the steel mill, better-than-expected sound quality, free parking, and easy access. Now the bad: do not order food here, it is terrible. If you order the Margherita Flatbread expecting a crispy, delicious, Italian celebration of tomato sauce and basil, you will be disappointed when the server brings you a doughy mini-focaccia sprinkled with a few sun-dried tomatoes and bean sprouts (yes, sprouts - not basil). WHen I asked for my burger to be cooked medium rare I was rebuffed my the server who informed me that "that's more of a steakhouse thing, we do ours medium-well". I asked her to ask the cook anyway, but what I got was an overcooked, dried-out patty that was likely cooked hours previously. Even the garden salad had a weird aftertaste. Anyway, lesson learned, we'll eat somewhere else next time and come for the music. read more

If I could give two separate ratings for the music and the food I would. The music was fabulous 5 stars and I really enjoyed the James Cotton show. The food was just plain awful and not worth the money spent. It's a real shame because the menu looks good. There is a $10 minimum per table, spend it on drinks. I had the gnocchi, they were dry, tasteless and some of them were burned (whoever was cooking missed the carmelized mark and went straight to blackened). This dish really needed a sauce or at the very least a better quality of olive oil and less time in the sauteed pan. My partner got a chicken ciabatta. The ciabatta was of the frozen variety and had been left out to thaw long enough to become inedible stale and hard. The actual presentation of the food was lovely, too bad the same attention wasn't given to the contents. Had I read other yelp reviews prior to going I would have stuck to drinks. read more
