We did not know what to expect, given this was our first day in Barcelona. We were on our way to Casa Battlo, looking for a good, but quick meal. Luckily for us, the restaurant was open in mid-afternoon and not far from our destination. Upon entering, we were immediately struck by the modern, elegant ambiance. We were even more pleased with the menu's variety. There was something to offer for kids and adults. Everyone in our group was pleased with their meal. We made a reservation and was seated immediately. Our server took our drink order and starters a few minutes later. The spicy potatoes and tomato bread were delicious. But then our server totally ignored us. He rushed by several times but even when we tried to get his attention he never turned to look at us. He appeared to be catering to others. After a while we called over a younger server who took our order. My beef medallions came out rare and only when we asked he brought over hot stones. Was recommended to visit. Spacious inside. Food quality decent for the prices. They serve tomato bread with your beer. I was disappointed to learn that potato Brava is just chunky fries with spicy mayo on top - still good. Overall decent quality reasonably priced food. We stopped in here after spending the afternoon shopping and sightseeing in Eixemple. It was a bit hard to find as the building next door has a ton of construction going on (I believe it is going to be a food hall). The interior of this space was gorgeous. My friend and I got the grilled beef medallions (without the cheese sauce as it wasn't GF) and my husband got the grilled beef steak with walnut sauce. The meat was excellent, with s nice smoky flavor from the charcoal grill. My husband said the walnut sauce was very good as well. The problem with this place was that the sides were bland and lackluster. The fries needed salt desperately and the veggies were over cooked and didn't have any charcoal flavor to them. The menu is expansive offering lots of meat choices, seafood, or vegetarian at very reasonable prices ranging from mostly €7- €12, with some steaks and seafood slightly higher. Menus are available in numerous languages, which is great since there are unique foods offered. An extra star for service who spoke English for this gringo. 1. Coca Bread [€4.50, 3.5 stars] - like in "the village" (aka "old world"), it's good but not great. Light tomato sauce and scraped garlic I liked, but served cold I didn't. 2. Mountain Rice [€6.50, 3.5 stars] - concept good, artichoke and mushrooms mixed in the rice, but execution not. Overcooked and sticky. 3. Grilled Octopus [€10.50, 4.0 stars] - tasty but overcooked, served on scalloped potatoes. 4. Grilled Veal with Mushroom Sauce [€9.50, 3.5 stars] - meh. Great food with a great view! And don't forget to do a little shopping before and after if that's what floats your boat. There's a large circular building (blanking on the name) but it's near the 'magic fountains'. Every Thursday, they have this fountain show with lights, water, and music (think Bellagio fountains in Las Vegas). The restaurant is located in what used to be a stadium and was converted into a massive retail and dining venue - honestly, I was very impressed with the building conversion (I come from a development background, so I geek out a little when it comes to this stuff). The go-to place is the sky deck where you get an amazing view of Barcelona. I stumbled across Mussol by just walking through the different restaurants and seeing the menu. This one had seating outside and a decent price, so Mussol it was! We were seated immediately to the outdoor patio area (NOTE: customer service really isn't a concept like in the US, so I won't be too harsh). I was traveling with my family throughout Europe, so we ordered a half pitcher of the Sangria (~15 Euros) - definitely cheaper than getting per glass. It was made well, but a little watered down in my book, the sangria could have used more red wine. Now on to the most important part, the food. I was really craving some sort of meat, so I ordered what was titled a "lamb burger". In the US, it's a patty with at least 2 buns in between but what I got was like a patty (almost like meatloaf), roasted vegetables, and fries. The patty had an interesting gravy sauce on it but the fries weren't that good (USA you win this one!). I wouldn't say my dish was amazing but it was good. What I really enjoyed was another dish I tried, a meat sampler - it has an assortment of different meats from lamb to chicken. That dish was really cooked well. Everything was soo good! Their tomato bread was some of my favorite I've ever had. We also had patatas bravas, croquetas (I normally don't like croquetas but theirs were great), goat cheese stuffed mushrooms, recapte coca (a Spanish flatbread), and crema catalana (like créeme brûlée). Everything tasted amazing and was very authentic. I also really liked the ambience in the restaurant-- it was large and decorated nicely. Where do I start. EVERY dish we ordered was uninspired, drab and mostly tasteless from the starters to the entrees. It's as if they don't care and it shows. An example was a boiled potato cut in half and placed on our plate, no seasoning, just plain. A fatty over cooked, stingy duck dish, a gluten free bread and tomato starter that consisted of a bag with a gluten free roll and a cold tomato on a plate - Really? The restaurant was empty - now I know why. Even the timing of the dish service was a mess - I was served my entree 15 full minutes before others. I'm from NY, and I love good food, but I'm also a fair critic. I will say if this restaurant was in NY, it wouldn't last a month. I will never return. read more

Our last night in Barcelona & we wanted to sit at a normal restaurant this place was recommended earlier in the day. Nice place looking at it from the outside u would never know it is so big. We came in with a group of six & had no trouble being seated once settled most of us drank (1) Sangria not bad a bit on the sweet size others had a glass of (2) Red wine this was good. On the food lets begin with (3) Mini macaroni & egg salad , this was delicious great tasting never tried a Salad like this. Another salad choice was the (4) Goat cheese salad also very good (5) The Selection of BBQ meats & cheese nice meat & pretty good cheese (6) Bread with sauce , not bad (7) Vegetable cannelloni good (8) Mussels Macaroni good as well Next up the home made (9) Osana beef burger w mushrooms was good. Followed by the (10) Premium Beef Steak & (11) Osabuko was ok (12) Grilled Cod fish wasn't bad a bit salty & finally the (13) Osana Beef steak with fries this was really good nice juice steak comes with an amazing garlic sauce great for the steak & perfect for dipping the fries as well which had a great potato taste to them. At the end there was little room for dessert but we managed to try a (13) Fried Fritter which wasn't that great & finally a (14) Flan this was way better. Extremely slow service (10-15 minutes to get someone's attention) despite the numerous amount of servers buzzing everywhere. We had to ask several times for someone to take our order, we had to ask for someone to bring us water, we had to ask for someone to bring us a spoon for the soup, we had to ask for someone to bring us plates. Some of our food came out completely cold, and they added an order to our bill that we never asked for. No one checked in on us during our lunch, although we noticed other tables with multiple servers helping. There were crazed children running wild everyone. It's a shame, this was probably one of the worst restaurants for food and service we received in the city. No one was outwardly rude, but they really need to get it together if they are going to compete with other restaurants in the area. read more

for a group This is a great place to have either lunch and dinner if you are more than 4 people. Price is very reasonable, and you can try popular "pan con tomate" with a crispy bread "coca" here. It's not recommendable if you expect a romantic dinner, because it's very noisy. read more
