The OG Mustafa's Gemüse Kebap is the stuff of legends in Berlin -- while the line can wind down the street for an hour or two and is mostly full of tourists, it's famous enough to have garnered a partnership with Diesel (need we say more about the döner joint's place in the zeitgeist?).
I can't say if this döner place right off La Rambla has any association with the one in Berlin, but I can attest that it definitely hit the spot and fulfilled any döner cravings I had when I was visiting Barcelona. I've heard that this iteration of Mustafa's often has a wait (just like its kindred spirit back in Berlin) but when I stopped by at 6:30 PM there was miraculously no line to be found.
The chicken döner was hefty. As in, it could've easily fed three hungry people and had to be attacked with a fork even if you weren't overly concerned about looking demure at dinner. Delicious, yes. German authentic? Maybe not, but it's way better than anything you'd get in the States. read more
