I got married on July 21, 2018 at Pageo Lavender Farm in Turlock. Mustard Seed is the exclusive caterer to the venue, and about 8 months before our wedding day I reached out to Shauna to start the menu selection process. We booked a date to visit the venue for a tasting and enjoyed each item that was on the menu. I spoke with Shauna on the phone afterwards to discuss how we could accommodate guests that were vegetarian and how to best pair the sides and entrees together in anticipation of a hot summer day. Shauna was so insightful and accommodating, offering to modify a certain number of plates for our vegetarian guests, and giving suggestions for which dishes might be better in the summer. For cocktail hour, we selected the cucumber with lemon herb cream cheese and shrimp and the caprese skewers to go with the fruit, cheese and cracker platter that was a standard to the package we selected. For the reception dinner, we selected a garden salad, cold pasta salad, tri-tip with chimichurri sauce, honey pecan chicken (the crowd favorite!) and a small amount of bruschetta-stuffed bell peppers for our vegetarian guests. Shauna was patient and responsive to all the questions I emailed her with over this planning period, and the Mustard Seed servers and staff that worked during our wedding day were so friendly and helpful. All our guests raved about the food and service! We hired mustard seed for our wedding back in April. From the beginning, we felt comfortable talking to the owner, Shauna. She was always helpful and willing to answer any and all questions, and trust me, I always have a lot of questions. She didn't hesitate to give us all sorts of options if we seemed to hesitate on any selection. We had a few phone meetings that went well, we then had our food tasting at our wedding venue. For our wedding day we went with a chicken and tri tip for protein. Mashed potatoes, Cesar salad and roasted rainbow carrots for sides. I believe all meals come with dinner rolls as well. For our appetizers we had the assorted fruits, crackers and cheeses. We added stuffed mushrooms and traditional bruschetta, both very good, if you love mushrooms, you need to get them. Our favorite items had to be the garlic mashed potatoes and the tri tip with chimmi churri sauce. Everything we got was delicious but the mashed potatoes were definitely the biggest hit. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience Working with Mustard Seed Catering, if anyone was having an event or wedding in an area that they serve, I would highly recommend them. Shauna and Mustard Seed catered our wedding on June 20, 2015. Although, I have to say, "catered our wedding" does not begin to describe all that Shauna helped us with to make our wedding day the best day of our lives. Shauna was recommended to us by our venue (Pageo Lavender Farm) and the very first time I talked to her on the phone, I knew that I wanted to work with her. She was extremely flexible, wonderfully personable and incredibly helpful. Throughout the planning process, the last few days and the day of, Shauna went above and beyond what one would expect even from the best caterer. Neither my husband nor I are from the Modesto area, so having someone with an "inside scoop" was essential. Shauna played that role for us, coming up with wonderful recommendations from bakery to DJ and more. She helped making all the vague ideas I had about my big day a reality. Now some specifics: we had a relatively small wedding with ~90 people. Shauna and Mustard Seed provided dinner, servers, bar service and bartenders, coordinated event rentals and helped with set-up and cleanup. (And by helped, I mean that everything magically cleaned itself up while my husband and I were on the dancefloor with our guests.) The dinner was excellent, we decided to go with passed appetizers, and salmon and chicken for a buffet style dinner. The salmon and the garlic mashed potatoes are to die for, and we got lots of compliments on everything else as well. We also had a few vegetarians and two kids, which was no problem at all, Shauna recommended some dishes for them (at no extra charge by the way) and everyone was super happy with their dinner. All the staff was extremely professional and super nice, they were helping with everything we asked for and never stopped smiling in the 100 degree heat. Shauna was always available for calls, answered emails promptly and offered help with the most random little things that made our day come alive (e.g., she brought lemons from her own lemon tree for the lemonade table I really wanted to have, came to the venue the day before the wedding to make sure that the champagne and white wine is being put on ice and ready to go when we need it and her husband even helped my then fiancee carry around all the wine and beer we ordered). I could write pages and pages and still would fail to convey all the gratitude that we have for Shauna and her amazing team, or describe all the things she helped us with. So instead of writing more, let me just say that if you have a wedding or any other event in the Modesto area, you absolutely have to talk to Shauna. Her wonderfully positive attitude and energy make it very clear just how much she loves her job and once you hire Mustard Seed, planning will suddenly become a lot easier and your event will be smoother than you ever hoped for. Mustard Seed catered my wedding recently on 11/10/17, and the food was delicious! My husband and I chose the tri tip and chicken package - we went with the Tuscan chicken which was so good! The tri tip, garlic mashed potatoes, and salad were amazing as well. All of our guests commented on how amazing the food was - some even said it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding! We were married at Pageo Lavender Farm last October, and selected Mustard Seed as our caterer. I cannot express enough how awesome Mustard Seed Catering is! The food was amazing! We had appetizers (both a table of appetizers and some passed around) and a two entree buffet for about 280 people. Shauna and her team not only got it right, they went above and beyond. I am not exagerrating when I say that everything was perfect! The guests raved about the food, and Geoff and I couldn't have been more pleased! Here's another thing about Mustard Seed -- not only is the food outstanding, so is their service. We met with Shauna and Holly a couple of times before the big day to go over the details. It wasn't just about the food - it was about the table settings, where things were going to be staged, and general flow. Mustard Seed and Shauna are amazing!!! She catered our wedding and was also our day coordinator. Let me start with the food, it was exceptional! We had the tri-tip with chutney and lemon herb chicken. Honestly one of the best tri-tips I've ever had. Super moist and tender, not something you would expect from a buffet style dinner. Our side was the scallop potatoes and let me tell you, they were very delicious! Shauna told us not many people want to try them, but if you choose to have Mustard Seed cater your event try them! We actually requested to take all the leftovers home!!! The salad we chose had strawberries, blueberries, and avocado. Again delicious. All of our guests were very happy with the food and said the service was great. Now on to Shauna as our day coordinator. She was super timely and made sure everything ran smoothly. She was also very considerate to my husband's and mine needs. She prepared a little plate of hors d'oeuvres and had a bottle of champagne ready for us immediately after our ceremony, so we could eat something real quick and have a moment to ourselves before the crazy. She was also politely stern to make sure things went the way we wanted them. We actually had some guests try to move their place cards to a different seat, which would have messed up our seating arrangement. Luckily Shauna noticed this and handled the situation.
