I didn't even know it existed until my cousins wedding! Parking wasn't too bad, it's ofcourse free, and the parking attendants were a huge help. Guests enter through an unusual side door gate to the garden, which is not too bad, but not as formal as I would have liked for a wedding venue, this needs a little help. The patio and tent area are really nice! Even has a nice fountain. The bar is a bit small. The bartender was nice but it seems like they need more help just being more attentive. The grounds a really nice and kept up, a smaller venue, but just right for an intimate wedding and reception. Great spot for photo opportunities, especially at sunset. read more

My fiancée and are we're trying to get married here but as you know pandemic hit and the contract got breached by them (no Dj, can't be around guests, limited time at the venue to name a few...) Now were in a position to look at other options that can allow those things. The venue coordinators/ managers have no communication to cancel wedding and retrieve original deposit. I cannot say enough GREAT things about my experience with Vintage Gardens! I had my daughter's Graduate School graduation party there this past weekend. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous and there was lots of room for the little ones to run and play. The food was spectacular and cooked to perfection. Hot food was hot, cold food was cold! The staff was also amazing! They were ever present but not obtrusive. They had decorated nicely and even helped with our personal decoratations. The only thing this place has going for it is that it is one of the only place for outdoor weddings/receptions around these parts. The garden area w/gazebo(kinda '80s-ish but that's just me) where the wedding ceremony is held is pretty, not spectacular, but nice. The grass(most of the "garden") was poorly tended and the nice gardener watered the day of the ceremony-sweet! Nothing like sinking into wet grass in your new strappy heels to get the party started! For the reception...The tent covered outdoor area is on poured concrete and in the center is a large fountain that is dry and surrounded by plastic plants. -Ugh. I hate plastic plants especially outside! Oh, don't get me started about the 4 tiered cake which was actually beautiful btw. This cake should have been enough for 200+ people. There were about 120 at the wedding. Where did all the rest of the cake go????? The damn caterers threw it away. Yes, they trashed the whole gorgeous fondant covered beast and w/out apology at that. ---This was not my wedding venue of choice but hey, it wasn't my wedding. My fiancee and I are getting married at Vintage Gardens next year. After months of searching for a wedding venue we liked but that was within our budget, we finally came across this place and fell in love with it. The gardens are beautiful for a start, but it's the people that own it and run it that really sold it for us. The owner Bob is super funny and friendly and helped us work a wedding package around to get it within our budget. One of the staff members, Stacey, is the friendliest person we've met during all of our wedding planning adventures and she continues to treat us like family every time we visit the Gardens. We have since booked the venue, visited the restaurant for dinner and drinks (great food!), booked some of their recommended vendors and worked with their staff to start making our dream day a really special one. After visiting so many wedding venues, and being told "no" so many times (whether it be about customizing the menu, working around our budget, hanging lanterns from the ceiling, etc) it is certainly refreshing to be told "yes!" We are very excited for our wedding and looking forward to working with Stacey that day. After the wedding, if it comes and goes without any hiccups as we think it will, we will update our review here to 5 stars as well. Just had my Son's Wedding there, Paid a lot of money for around 180 guests. Around 12,000. My issues with this place was they scheduled another party the same day, we had our wedding booked over a year in advance. People from that party were in the garden area. Taking pictures. As our wedding party was taking pictures. My Photographer had to ask them to leave. We had tons of food left, they did not offer it to us, it was thrown out. People in my party seen the the workers there, taking our cake to feed themselves. The colors on our table was not what we picked, we picked a light pink with grey, we got the grey, but with dusty rose. Our planner left early, we were on our own in the evening. Over all. Beautiful venue. Not worth the money we spent. Yes they set it all up, tear it down, decorate. Not pleased. read more

I was helping out with one of my closest friends parties. She had her parents 50th anniversary here. We show up to set up decorations for a 100 person event and there was no staff to be seen. The agreement was that the staff would be there before 8 to set up for the 11 am event. We could not get into contact anyone until a cleaning lady showed up. She got into contact with the Events manager Julie and she continued to tell my friend that there was no party booked for that day and time. REALLY? My friend continued to tell her facts about the event and then Julie finally says "That rings a bell". We had to set up tables and chairs, etc. before all the guests arrived. We had special arrangements where pork could not be served and the event assistant told me that that was not in the contract. We pulled out the contract and it specifically said NO PORK This events team was already digging a large hole, why would they argue and not accommodate? I could continue to go on and on about how horrible this experience was for my friend and her family. The event was beautiful because WE pulled it off. I would recommended hiring staff that is more considerate of customers needs. I am in the event industry and seeing the way the management handled this situation was the poorest I have ever seen. Please consider hiring professionals so you will receive better ratings and better experiences. read more

Vintage Gardens has a unique perspective to kill two birds with one stone. The management at Vintage Gardens saved the elegant front end cafe/bakery from the over bearing Vella's influence it once represented. The almost gaudy retail items have thankfully been removed and what remains adds a touch of class and simplicity the casual visitor can enjoy. The dining area contains high end tables and chairs which are also spaced so each meal can be shared privately. The coffee is on par with Starbucks, but the bakery is where to pile on the calories. The menu retained the best of Vella's but upgraded it's quality. If you can finish the rich chocolate cake, you'll be in rare company as it's sugar content can leave the biggest sweet tooth in the dust. The daily lunch special is also a wonderful meal. If you're lucky enough to come on the spaghetti day, you'll sample some of the best garlic bread around. The service is very friendly. Even when the place shifts into the upper class atmosphere during the wine tasting, the servers are polite, attentive, and appreciate any feedback you can convey. If you're a blue cheese fan, the blue chips appetizer is for you. The fresh cut potato chips are toasted with a very pungent blue cheese that can either make the taste buds wanting more, or the cheese will overpower all your senses. Either way, it is a dish to try at least once. The calamari is fresh and fried to perfection. It's very much on par with the best restaurants Modesto has to offer. Julie the event manager was very unprofessional. First she was almost an hour late for the first meeting, and then was absent during trying to plan the event. She also gave incorrect or maybe just false information about the fact that it would be a private event. When issues arose from an uninvited guest, from the restaurant coming into our party and causing issues, she would not handle the problem, even when we had to pay for a security guard. Things then got out of control, Julie made issues worse by making racist remakes and using profanity, not just to the host, but to all of our guest. Had my wedding here in March of 2015. Staff was wonderful to work with, not one complaint about anyone from Vintage, they were all terrific! The planners, bartenders, set up staff, etc., all were wonderful. Lorna, the main event coordinator, and Leann, the assistant coordinator, always responded to my inquiries in a timely fashion, I never had to wait weeks at a time for any answers to questions. The venue is beautiful and well maintained, I loved that it was local so my guests didn't have to travel. They really allowed me some leeway to make my wedding day unique. Best of all, they have a full liquor license, so none of that "beer and wine only" garbage like at most weddings. The only reasons I didn't quite give a full 5 stars may come off as petty, so if these things aren't important to you in your wedding planning, consider Vintage Gardens a 5 star review. I spent quite awhile the day of my wedding setting up centerpieces with candles. I was told that the staff would light them during dinner. The candles never got lit, not even one. The sound system wasn't particularly loud, and I would have preferred to be able to play our wedding music a bit louder. Also, I had a live music/dj combo which the staff claimed they knew nothing about even though I had in fact told them multiple times, and have witnesses to attest to this. Apparently this was an issue the day of the wedding. The sound kept shutting off and on, and the poor guy in charge of the music had to keep running over and resetting the breaker. I have heard that this is an ongoing problem here. I also feel the rehearsal could have been a bit more thorough. It also seemed the ceremony fell slightly short on seating, which did trouble me a bit. I was very precise with my guest count, and I feel that extra chairs should have been set up for the ceremony so that there would be plenty of room for guests to sit. People having to stand during a wedding ceremony is a pet peeve of mine. All in all, great place. It is a bit pricy, but you get what you pay for. Staff takes care of everything including set up and clean up, linens, tables, chairs, plateware, you name it, they take care of it there for you. I truly felt that the experience was about what I wanted for my wedding, not how much money they could make off of me. I never felt pressured to upgrade anything just so they could make an extra buck. I highly recommend the spot to anyone who's interested in having a fun, gorgeous, local wedding. read more

I recently attended a wedding here on 9/9/17. Although the bride and groom were a sight to see, I cannot say the same about the facilities's staff. I had learned that there would be appetizers, to my dismay there weren't any set out. When it came time to get alcoholic beverages, I was very excited t enjoy an ice cold beer on a hot September afternoon. Much to my surprise, the beer was as warm as the weather that day, I ended up having to pay for a colder beverage instead of drinking what the Bride and Groom had already prepaid for. The decorations were more beautiful then I had imagined possible, the food was delicious, and the staff was so polite and helpful. Not once was I stressed about things going wrong. They made me feel like a princess, and made my wedding day the happiest day of my life. The owner, Bob, has an amazing sense of humor, and the entire staff worked so hard to make sure everything turned out perfectly. Because we had such a wonderful experience here, when my brother got married, we again chose Vintage Gardens for the reception, and they again did a marvelous job. THEY FORGOT OUR EVENT (No i'm not kidding)! I truly hope anyone contemplating Vintage Gardens for their special event seriously reconsider. Even as I sit and write this review, I am still in utter disbelief with my experience on October 2, 2016. My family worked for months to plan my parent's 50th Wedding Anniversary. It was supposed to be such a special day for us as this sort of celebration is rare nowadays. Julie, the manager was wonderful when we signed our contract and made the final details for our event as she assured us they would do everything to make our event special. We were to arrive the morning of the event at 8am to begin set-up with our decorations and were told their staff would already be there since the event was to begin at 11am. Nothing will describe the feeling of pulling into the parking lot at 8:30am and realizing no one was there. They had completely forgotten about our event. Like I said no words can describe that feeling. At 9:20am a cleaning lady arrived and if it weren't for her, we have no idea what we would have done. She opened the gardens and we quickly began damage control. We set up all of our own tables and chairs and used whatever clean linens they had. If I were to list all of the things wrong with our event besides the fact that they forgot it completely, it would be a novel. Julie showed up a little before 11am when the event was supposed to begin and informed me that their system must have been hacked and our event was deleted. In the end there is nothing Vintage Gardens can do that will fix this huge mistake. A 50th wedding anniversary is a once in a lifetime thing, something that my family will never have the opportunity to "do-over". read more

Attended a wedding at Vintage Gardens on June 6, 2014. Beautiful gardens, nice bar, clean bathrooms, nice lawns and trees. It was a hot day so was glad the staff kept refilling the ice tea and water pitchers on the tables. They also had large box fans to circulate the air under the canopy which helped greatly. The venue is very unique as it is outdoors with a canopy area for tables. Beautiful lights around the canopy area, very attentive dinner staff, the food was delicious (and I am picky about my food!). I had not heard about this place, guess it is a hidden jewel! DELETED 50TH ANNIVERSARY EVENT???? No matter how beautiful the gardens are if you show up on the big day and nobody is there IT IS A FAIL. October 2, my sisters and I arrived to set up decorations and found ourselves in the horrific position of being locked out of the venue. When the cleaning lady let us in it was 1 hour and 14 minutes before our guests were to arrive. The four of us had no choice but to clean the venue from a previous party. We literally stripped the tables of dirty linens. Because our event was forgotten there was no staff and no food scheduled. We set up the tables and chairs ourselves. The staff that did show up looked as though they were pulled out of bed and called into work on their day off because THEY WERE and their attitude reflected it. The food was store bought, my guess is a Costco and Save-Mart run. It was embarrassing for my parents to serve there guests this food. Whom ever may read this I want to STRESS THIS POINT after this once in a life time event was over the staff at Vintage Gardens was pleased they had pulled it off and offered no sincere apology. I booked my March 2014 wedding in April of 2013. Lorna assured me that we would have no problems, and the bride and groom should not worry about anything on their wedding day. Everything will be taken care of and if there are any discrepancies, we can pay the difference or take care of it after our event. This put my mind at ease and I felt as though they really cared about our event and making it nice for US. Lorna gives her customers excellent attention, but somehow, things get lost from our vision and discussions with her to what ACTUALLY happens on wedding day. SO, it is a beautiful venue, however, when we arrived, there were not enough tables for our guests to sit comfortably. Very disappointing since Lorna and I had just discussed an increase in our head count AND I PAID FOR IT! The women working our event acted like we were trying to pull a fast one and told my mom that there was nothing they could do, and if she had a problem, I needed to talk to Lorna. THEN, someone had donated the fruit display for our wedding. It was their gift to us. Well, there was no fruit display, platter or plate for that matter. I paid $257.10 for this display and had nothing to show for it. When asked about the display, the workers told my mom that they were uninformed of this purchase and 'Besides, even if we wanted to help you, we couldn't because we have no fruit.' I was livid on my wedding day. Once again, I tried to compose myself, since I hadn't even walked the aisle. We were introduced and sat at the head table after the first dance and nothing to toast with. When the servers were asked to provide us with at least water, the lady comes to me (the bride) and says, all you needed to do was ask for drinks. Then I found out that the bar was charging for sodas halfway through our event, which we had agreed to pay for back in April 2013, a year prior. My husband gets up to tell the woman that we are providing the guests with soda and she says, I'll have to ask. We weren't told that so I will need to see receipts or there is nothing I can do. She insulted us by acting as though WE are the THIEVES. We paid for fruit, and soda, and neither were provided by the venue, who is the real thief? The staff was down right rude and did nothing to enhance our wedding. Stacy was nice, but there are far too many communication problems since all that we experienced were problems. There was no cake serving plate, and when asked the staff stood there looking at me because I had just interrupted their conversation. The worst part of all of this, was the display of the food. The presentation was horrible. They left a huge empty spot on the serving table and the food was delivered to the buffet table cold. Lastly, when we asked about security guards there were none in sight. No one could even point them out. This was odd to me since I had paid $500 for 2 security guards since we had over 100 people. I was so disappointed and I felt like I was cheated. I can tell you, if you use them, get everything in writing, take/ask for receipts and make sure everyone is on the same page. I would review the contract with BOTH Stacy and Lorna to make sure they both know, because if you don't I gaurantee you will have difficulty getting the things you need. I would not recommend this venue. I would pay the difference to have friendly service, excellent presentation, and treated like it is YOUR wedding day. The venue did return $250 for the no show security gaurds, but other than that it was just excuses. I would not recommend them nor would I ever use them again. read more

Altogether, Vintage Gardens was a sad experience for my wife and me. At first things seemed to be going well with the wedding preparations through Vintage Gardens. However, about a month or so after we paid our $2000 deposit, we called to ask a question and were told that the lady we were once working with is no longer employed with Vintage Gardens. Sadly, their new representative was temporary and rude. My wife and I had concerns with the cleanliness of the tent, and some of the construction that was going on. Collectively, all the discrepancies were enough for my wife and I to pull out. We were young and only put up a little bit of fight in trying to get back our $2000 deposit. In the end, it was usury on their part to give us nothing back and also to provide nothing in the way of services. Vintage Gardens was not a pleasant experience :( I wish I would've taken this to small claims where consumer voices are heard and respected - just a bit of advice for anyone in a similar predicament. read more

Had my daughter's wedding there in August, 2016.. We had 350 people there and were told they do big weddings there all the time and they do it all! They are totally not equipped to do big weddings. Very depressing. The service was terrible!!!! There are 350 people that will never have a wedding at that place and many of our guests actually told us they had a hard time getting their drinks and their food.. We paid per person for drinks and were told there would be 2 bartenders at each of the 2 bars and the beer bar. There was only 1 at each bar and the lines were huge all night. Many of our guests actually went into the bar to buy drinks. Then as many guests hadn't even had their first drink, they closed it down to eat. The line at the buffet was terrible and no one called the tables in the back. Guests who had already finished dinner actually told guests in the lawn area to go eat before they put the food away! They were out of food before they went to the back to get more. The DJ they recommended was really good and tried to get things going but champagne for the toast was brought out to only some tables and it was warm. Wine was supposed to be out so people could get a bottle for the tables while they ate. Halfway thru dinner, a guest asked me if there would be wine on the tables. Had to find someone who had to go up in the storage room to get wine and open it before it could be served. The white wine of course was warm and they told us we couldn't help open them because of the liability. I was so mad by then as people were asking me for water, tea, coffee, plates on table, etc. that I told the bartender, we were going to open them anyway and when I walked away, the bartender actually told my guests in line that the "mother of the bride was a bitch". Other rude remarks were said to other guests by overworked employees who should have had more help! We actually had a meeting with our coordinator, Julie, (changed our coordinator every time we went in to talk to them)) and 2 others after the wedding and they thought everything was beautiful and wonderful and didn't see the lines or any problems and we were wrong about everything.
