Parking is across the street next to some kind of massive military office building (you can imagine Czechoslovak pilots living or working there in the interwar era and riding their bicycles to the landing strip). Entry is free. Jets from the 50s and onwards and all kinds of freight and passenger jets are all over, as well as helicopters from several eras. There are some feeble hangars that contain well-restored planes from the 1910s-1930s. Explanatory texts are a bit short and you can't get very close to many planes. This is a shame, because I'd love to see inside of a 50s or 60s Soviet-built jet. There is also a nice little souvenir shop where airplane afficionados can have a ball buying model planes, patches, postcards and whatever else. In sum, the place is so-so as a museum, but really great as a place to see flashes of old Czechoslovakia.

Another room houses a few rare airframes which are in a unreconstructed state but incredibly rare. There is a room dedicated to the NSDAP , Nazi, take over of the Czech air industry. Spent 4 hours overall, don't forget the exhibits in an annex across the main street, about a 15 min walk. The museum is easy to reach by metro to Letany, then bus 209. Forgot, it's all free.

It wasn't expensive so we paid to walk through. It is about a 30 minute self-guided tour unless you read all the placards. They are all easy, short reads. The place is a little dusty and dated. Still, it is fun to walk around and discover that your mother's "neck massager" had other purposes. Gasp! Make sure to grab a picture in the chair in the front lobby. It will tell you how hot of a lo er you are. All good fun!

I'm terrible at history, but I really enjoy learning about the history of the places I travel to. I don't know too much about communism, so I thought that the Museum of Communism would be the perfect place to learn what exactly is communism, how it started, and how it affected the Czech Republic. Well, it was quite disappointing, and not worth the money. I came out of there still not having a clue about communism and how it started, and it was a small, shabby, run down museum. A little depressing, actually. I'd only recommend going if it's late at night, everything else is closed, you have nothing better to do, and you just happen to be in the area--don't go out of your way to find it. Speaking about finding it, it's not well marked and hard to find. The Lonely Planet book said it was above a McDonald's, and that was extremely helpful. If it weren't for that tip, I would never have found it, despite having the address. To get to the museum, you have to enter through a casino, which is filled with cigarette smoke, and there is no elevator, just stairs, so it's not accessible for people in wheelchairs, or for people who like to breathe.

I implore you, book your tour as early in the day as possible or you will likely need to stay overnight in the nearby village to continue into the next day. It is A LOT. I pray that history like this does not repeat itself. If you are staying in Prague before or after your visit to Terezin, please make sure that you go to the correct bus pickup after you take the metro to the transfer. We had the incorrect platform information from an outdated guidebook and if you do not know the Czech language, it can be difficult to determine which platform to go to.

I read Metamorphosis years ago; but now I have a newfound zeal about reading some more of his work. It seemed like the layout of the museum was intentional because it was not the easiest to get around......much like Kafka's life. If you think you cannot find a good vintage copy of one his books in Prague; try one of the Antikvariat stores. I found a pretty nice one in Czech from 1968.

He had some interesting items, but his guided 'tour' took my interest away after he continually blared the techno music dubbed over the Russian army displays that were on the tv. Here is a quote 'you can only kill someone by accident by stabbing them in the chest'. I'm any case it too long was more about how he knew how to kill with the weapons he had (a ballistic knife for example). Also not cheap. I'd either avoid or take someone who knows Russian so they can tell you what the artifacts he had and if they were real

A short tour but one worth taking if you're into this kind of stuff…read more I came in somewhat on a whim, just before the start of a new tour. There were four of us, which seemed appropriate for the size of the spaces. Our tour guide was new, but she did a fantastic job nonetheless with giving us cool facts and details about the space. There are lots of cool objects and items. Some authentic, some rebuilt, some just for show. You have to guess which is which before the sand in the hourglass empties or everyone dies. There's even a shop where you can purchase versions of the opium-laden potions of the past. Too bad they're not the same. PS, everyone in our group was wearing all black. It's that kind of place ;)

Recreated with love, this alchemy lab is a blast and the guide was as delightful as one could imagine. My companion, a Prague native, had never heard of the place but found it entertaining, while I nd my other companion found it charming. It's maybe not everyone's cup of tea. but if alchemy (the historical origins of chemistry) appeal, then this is a fantastic couple of hours worth of fun.

What a great find to stumble upon in the touristy part of Old Town, across the famous clock tower…read more Had an awesome time seeing and trying out the optical illusion exhibits! It is an interactive museum where you can be a part of the illusions and take cool photos. Messes with your mind in a good way! One drawback is that the floor up usually has a perfect view of the Tower when it chimes on the hour and does tricks, but since the tower was closed that day (renovations) plus the 2nd floor exhibit was closed, we got a slight discount. Nevertheless, the first floor of exhibits was still fun!
