But after hearing a bunch of horror stories about repairs on the island costing 4x as much, often after the vehicle is held hostage for weeks ... I was sweating it. Fortunately, I was going to reconnect anyways with an old high school buddy who's lived here for 20 years. He recommended Binks, and even called them for me first thing Monday morning. They looked at the truck Mon afternoon, ordered the part overnight and had the alternator replaced and the truck back on the road by early Tues afternoon. And I'm not sure how much it would have cost at home - but it was about half of what I was expecting.
