Within the first couple of weeks our puppy began showing episodes of staggering, collapsing limbs and involuntary head tremors which lead us from veterinarian to neurologist, expensive testing and the diagnosis of a congenital neurological disorder. From the beginning I updated Jacque occasionally with our puppy's progress with only minimal response from her. A recent hunch had me read over the AKC registration papers of the dam and sir, Lima and Burly, given to us at adoption, when I discovered they were daughter and father - inbreeding! After weeks of grief and confusion we finally had the truth. I confronted Jacque and she claimed to have no knowledge of the inbreeding and blamed it entirely on her mother, an experienced breeder who supplied Burly's "sample" at a Veterinary hospital. Whether this was truly a stupid oversight or greed, (Jacque had another dam give birth only 3 weeks after our puppy came home) is unclear, but looking back there where other signs (and what was not being said) that have us questioning her motives. Jacque has wisely refunded our adoption and veterinary expenses. It's uncertain what our beloved puppy's length or quality of life will be, somedays are good, some not, but we will care for her as best we can. Returning her was never an option. I'm posting this review because I don't want another dog to suffer unnecessarily and family live through this heartbreaking experience.

My husband and I met and purchased our 1st shar pei, a male chocolate dilute, from Singh Dynasty back in April 1995. We had nothing but a positive experience with them from the very first phone call that was made inquiring about puppies to the day we left their house with our handsome boy. They were very professional, knowledgeable and personable to deal with. We, however, were well educated about the breed prior to embarking on the purchase of a shar pei. Perhaps some of the previous reviewers were not (ie. overall health & eye problems with the breed). With that said, our shar pei lived a long, (10 years & 1 month) happy life! He was a great dog with a very good temperament! Although he was not free from health issues, we knew going into investing in this breed of dog that that was, without a doubt, a definite possibility. Familial Shar Pei Fever, amyloidosis & chronic otis externa are very common issues with the shar pei breed. I, however, do NOT single out and blame Singh Dynasty for, unfortunately all too common, well documented & on going health related issues that I had with my shar pei. Educate yourselves about the breed PRIOR to considering one for purchase! Thank you Michael & Darla for doing what you do (did) and taking your breeding professionally and with high regard to the breed. The breeder was Darla Singh from Singh Dynasty in Garden prairie Illinois. When I first called Darla she stated I can pick whatever puppy I wanted from the litter when I arrived about 10 wks after my little guy was born I didn't have a choice she just said this is your dog. When I first picked "Pacino up he had a small defect on his left paw like a pigeon toe and she said oh that will go away. Which it never did, She states all her dogs are AKC registered and parents are show dogs that I would not have any problems. Pacino was a very feisty dog when he was a puppy and actually throughout his life. Within the first month I called the breeder and questioned this to see if her other dogs or his parents were aggressive. She said oh he would grow out of it, she told me to put him in a pillowcase and shake him. Who does that!!! Throughout the years, Pacino has needed two eye surgeries, which I knew of due to the breed, and many hereditary health issues that I was not aware of. Last March of 2012 Pacino was diagnosed with low thyroid and had to be placed on daily medicine in June last year his eyesight started slowly going away until he was completely blind. Sadly, I had to lay my little guy to rest January 7, 2013 he would have been six years old in April. This was due to his kidneys were failing him he was very bloated and suffering. The doctor said this was best for him. I just hope no one else suffers from what I had to go through spending lots of money and suffering with him he was part of my family. DO NOT I repeat DO NOT PURCHASE YOUR DOG FROM THIS BREEDER who apparently does real estate as well. She needs to be locked up and put into Jail for what she has or is doing to all these families!!!!
