This bank used to be my favorite back when it was "Richfield/Bloomington Credit union" but it seems like ever since they changed their name and started expanding beyond richfield and bloomington, their service has been trash. this outfit is useless. they won't accept my disputed charges that I did not make. it takes weeks for them to answer messages in the app, if they ever answer. completely unresponsive to customer concerns . this is a poorly run credit union. good luck if you decide to join. read more

Anyone that is or was banking with My Credit Union should check their credit report. We have loans thru them and have them automatically withdrawn from our checking account so they are absolutely NEVER LATE!!! and according to our credit report the credit union is reporting that we are up to 120 days late on our loans which has dropped my husband's credit score almost 80 points in just 1 day. Went to credit union on Lyndale avenue and they said they are aware of the issue if we need or want to apply for a loan somewhere else those people could just call them. WTF!!! This could affect us if we were looking at purchasing a home or car or anything right now or in the near further. For them to just act like it wasn't a huge deal!!! read more

This used to be a good credit union and I've been a member for many years. They did a data conversion to a new system starting in August 2025 and things still aren't working right. Just yesterday I was told they finally got mobile deposit back (taking a photo of a check for deposit) but only for iphones. It is still in testing for Androids. So this wasn't available for almost 6 months. My husband moved here from out of state. We needed a bank statement to get a MN driver's license. We opened his account in August and were assured it would be available the end of the month. Didn't happen. We had to go back in weeks later and they basically created one of us - I think using Word - so he'd have something to take to the DMV - but no idea when statements would be visible to us. When I looked for my statements at that time, there were only a few from 2022! I just looked this week (Jan 2026) and I was still missing 6 months of statements from the middle of 2025!! I reached out and it took almost a week and a second request to get a response. And then they miraculously added them in - but I should have had to reach out and ask for them. The worse part of this is that the customers have been kept in the dark. They send out their friendly newsletter about happenings at the credit union but don't address the issues that are still a problem 6 months after the data conversion. My husband and I have opened new accounts at another credit union and as soon as all our our direct deposits do their final clear, we will be closing our accounts at My Credit Union . Oh - and just this past week was the final straw. They have very limited free ATM options. I went toanother credit union to take out money from My Credit Union account that offer a free withdrawal. It said I had reached my daily limit - not true. I drove all the way to the credit union and tried their ATM. Same error message - and still not true. I went inside and they said their systems were down across the board and giving false messages. Didn't know when it would be fixed but NO, they could not give me any funds and no idea when I could get any money out - even with my standing in the credit union! That was the day we opened new accounts at another credit union. And one last thought....have you ever tried to search "My Credit Union" to find this one? Terrible name change they made. read more

Pretty good customer service however when money was being taken out of my account and we took steps to keep that from happening it failed and they wouldn't reverse charges when it was not my fault because they said they took care of the situation and they did not clearly their fault so I had to dig in and do a whole lot of stuff myself to assure that it would not happen again it was a lot of work, but they've always been quite friendly read more

I started when this was Richfield Schools Credit Union over 50 years ago. Then they became Richfield Bloomington Credit Union. And then they changed their name to the bland "My Credit Union" and I didn't even realize it until almost a year after they made the change. With each name change, the have gone further downhill... more impersonal and more inefficient! They used to be really service oriented and now they only seem to be concerned with what interests and fees they can get customers to pay. If one of their people make a mistake, they just blame it on the computer rather than the person who made the mistake and they don't care how many nor how big are the problems that they cause for the customer. I used to call and the same people would recognize my name and voice. Now, when you call the central numbers, you might get anyone at either of the four locations, and good luck ever talking to the same person twice. They all sound really young and need to be taught how to be professional with customers and show respect for elders. I've reduced my balances by about 75% by transferring funds to different financial institutions. I withdrew funds to pay cash for both of my most recent car purchases, and they insulted my intelligence telling me that it would be better to maintain my balance and take out a loan... paying then three to five times as much interest on the loan as what I make on savings. A few years ago, they also implemented a base account into which a minimum deposit is made to start membership, that isn't enough to earn any interest and must be kept in the credit union until closing and withdrawing all accounts. It's essentially free money to the credit union because then can loan it and charge interest, but you don't earn anything for having it on deposit. This is a horrible financial institution. I woukd stay far away from them. I had thousands of dollars in fraudulent charges on my acct and they never did anything about it. I also got a bad check from a customer who scammed me and when it came back that it was bad they filled criminal charges against me. I also had a truck loan through them and they refused to let me make payments on it. I was told that I could not pay on my truck. Then they also closed out credit cards they were not maxed out and only late due to the fact they would not let me pay. Stay far away from this bank. read more

I've been with this bank for over 40 years and in the past ten years this banks service and quality are in the tank. Most of the issues started with an upgrade to their online banking and app, which was outsourced to a vendor. During the upgrade, I wasn't able to log in to balance my checkbook or to view balances, which could have led to over drafts. Once the online banking website and app they didn't work. I couldn't log in and found out that we had to call because they changed our passwords. I also lost part of my duo authentication options and since the only remaining option was my wives number, I had to call her every time I wanted to log in. The bank removed her number, but it took another 24 hours for that to be in effect. The next problem I had was the bank auto paid my truck loan twice within a two week period, causing my checking account to go in the red. I called the help desk, waiting 30 minutes and after speaking with someone, they were able to credit my account. It happened a second time the following week and again they credited my account. My sister tried to deposit some checks using the app, but was told to wait two weeks until that option went live, so she had to drive to the branch to deposit the checks. My family is extremely dissatisfied with this bank and are pulling their accounts. I plan to move most of mine to another credit union that has better service. read more

Just a run around trying to get someone that can actually help me on the phone, I'm being told that member services is not open at this time although it is an hour past the time they say they open. I left a message yesterday that was not returned and the app will only let me deposit a check for up to 500$. I was transferred to the same wrong department after waiting on hold and then she tried to give me a number to call that was the same number I was already on.. read more

I left Wells Fargo and joined my credit union in order to avoid the pety picky additional fees that Wells Fargo managed to tack on regularly. I have been able to transfer money from My Credit Union since I joyfully became a member. This week I attempted to transfer money in the usual fashion from my credit union over to another bank in order to pay a bill. I can't do that anymore. In order to transfer money I have to sign up for tools, build an account in tools then transfer the money. It was simple. It was so simple a couple clicks on my cell phone and the transfer was made. I have no idea why they decided to go from something that is simple to something that is so complex that nobody wants to do it. As soon as I can figure... I have promised my wife my daughter that I would not talk that way anymore because I was going to go and just Drool on about some executive pencil dick. But that's not called for. I'm looking for another Credit Union. That's full service credit without the hassles. read more

Great convenient location. They helped me get a loan for a classic vehicle that was imported her from Japan and has a non standard VIN. To be honest, I was surprised they did it. They seemed a little nervous at first, but I think they were happy to see the car appreciating greatly (still is). Made them feel better about an imported car I bought from a private seller. Takes some trust for a bank/credit union to do that, imo. Decent rate. Staff turnover seems to be a thing, besides Yvonne who thankfully knows her shit. I definitely picked the wrong Credit Union! Service is hit or miss. Online banking: the worst! Even their 'Help' button doesn't work! When I contacted them about this, their response was basically "Nope, the website is working fine." I'm not sure they could even spell 'Customer Support'. read more

I have been with RBCU for more than 10 years. I originally opened my accounts with the intent to jump from WF, but I just can't. I really want to use them, but these guys have made it impossible for me to do that. The people and the process do not meet the needs of an average customer in 2019. Today I was at the drive thru, first time in 9 months. At the end of my transaction, I asked for a new ATM card. I was told it would be $5 (I was fine with that). Now that I am home, I get a call, was on the other line - no voicemail left. . . . So I call the number to see who it was. Come to find out, they want to know which account for the card, and now I am told that I have to fill out an application for the card (which is not available online). I can do better. . . BTW - their new tech stack is better, for instance, they finally have mobile check deposit. Sorry RBCU, I am going to have to find a new banking home. read more

My husband and I have been members of RBCU for almost 40 years and lived 40 miles away from the nearest branch for 30 years. For the first 25 years that we lived away, it was worth the trips we sometimes have to make to actually go into one of the locations. In the past 5 years however, the service has gone so far down hill. About 6 months ago we were charged an overdraft fee. In 40 years this was only the third time this has happened. It was a very honest and understandable mistake regarding the set-up of a new automatic payment. I called to ask if it might be reversed. I am not angry that it wasn't reversed, I am angry that I called three times, left a message with a person (the employees who answer the phone are usually very pleasant) and not on a voice mail and was told I would receive a call back that day. I never received a call back. I commented about this in a survey they sent and I received a remarkably condescending reply. When I replied back, I was told a man named John would call me that day to talk it through. I never received a call. I sent letters, actual hand written letters, to the bank manager and president very respectfully sharing my frustration around this experience, I gave my email and telephone number and I never heard back. This has become a typical experience. They show no loyalty to customers anymore. They used to demonstrate a real interest in their customers and treated people so fairly. My example is just one of several unpleasant, and primarily non-responses, we have had in the past five years. We have one loan left to pay off and then we will be done. After 40 years, 3 mortgages, 2 home equity lines of credit and multiple car loans, we are clearly of no interest to them. read more

I was just in the phone with RBCU with Ketan. Without even letting me tell him what was wrong he cut me off started arguing with me. And then had the nerve to pull the if you can't uhhhh calm down he couldn't even say it because he knew he was wrong. And HUNG UP ON ME ! How disrespectful I don't advise ANYONE to bank here. I opened an account with RBCU in May 2018. I simply wanted to make a regular payment along with a consistent 'principal only' payment every month. Each and every of five months it was misapplied. I had to call and have them correct it every month--they would tell me a different way to process this for four months. I finally met with the manager at the Richfield branch (after the manager at the Bloomington branch never returned my call) and she said 'didn't they tell you you cannot do that online at the beginning?'. No--every month I processed my payment following a new and different method as advised by RBCU employees. It is so simple to want to make the same payment/amount every month, but their technology couldn't handle that online. I took out a loan at a different credit union in Bloomington--with a significantly lower interest rate!--and closed my RBCU account this month as I could not see 20 more months of fighting this and having to call each and every payment. Would definitely NOT recommend. Four months of misapplied payments was my limit. read more

Run run as fast as you can from this "bank". We wanted to support the hometown bank. However, Their systems and processes are so antiquated it makes it impossible to actually use the money in your account. They block almost all online purchases--which they don't tell you when you sign up. So, try booking a flight over the weekend on any online site--better think twice as they block online purchases and no one is available over the weekend to unblock it. Want to deposit a check? better not want to do it before or after work or on the weekend. ATMs don't take deposits. Want to cash a check---give them at least a week to make the money available to you. I think I would take the "big banks" any day--at least they let you access and deposit your money. The people working there are nice enough, but not empowered to solve any problems and also don't seem to understand how the real world of purchases and deposits work. I have suffered the embarrassment of having my debit card declined for the last time. The only reason I joined RBCU was to stay local, and get a VA home loan. My VA home loan couldn't be processed at RBCU so I was referred to a highly recommended third party mortgage processor. This guy's office took 60 days to let us down. We decided to go with our realtor's friend, and he got us to closing in 7 days. Thanks for nothing, RBCU. Next we have the debit card issue. I have over $20K in my account, but I can't spend more than $1000 without asking for permission like a small child. Think of having a new house that you can't buy furniture, or appliances for. You literally have to call and ask permission which adds about 30 minutes to any transaction, once you've been transferred to someone with authority. Once you made the purchase, you think it's over right? Wrong. You will get woken up at 7:00 am with a phone call from RBCU, asking if it was really you who made the request to spend your money. To make matters worse, the $1000 spending limit is carried into the weekend. If you spend $999.99 on Friday, you better not try spending a sent on Saturday. This place is a joke.
