The loss of income and struggle in managing the monumental task of shutting down fridges, managing food waste, moving tables and chairs and figuring out what to do next was overwhelming, until I met Carey from Lucy Pearlle's. What a gift this highly creative, energetic visionary is! Carey came for a site visit, assessed the space I had to work with and asked what I wanted to do with my business moving forward. Before she gave any recommendations she wanted to understand my vision first and what I needed this 1000 square feet to do for my business and my customers. Carey thought that she could help me and I was especially relieved to hear that she could use what I already had at hand, repurpose it to be more functional AND make it look great too. Within a week, she returned with an assistant. The results were far beyond what I ever could have imagined! Only two and a half hours and the room had been totally transformed. Piles of stock and furniture was cleared out, reorganized and set up beautifully so that I can now welcome customers back in to shop this weekend. Carey worked collaboratively with my staff to get the job done quickly and ensured that they also felt a part of the process. Most importantly, Carey did far more than just reorganize my space. She gave me hope during a pandemic. She showed me that my business can indeed be reinvented with ease and inexpensively. My commercial space, once she redesigned it with all of my best loved pieces at the forefront, made me feel energized and ready to reopen with a new exciting vision. THAT is great customer service. Note: I am giving Len's a 4 out of 5 stars only because they don't offer upscale yarns (such as alpaca or qiviut), and because it is a warehouse. Mind you, when I expressed my pleasant surprise at what I found there to one of the clerks, she indicated that this was only a small portion of the yarns they do offer. If I ever go back and see the natural fibers I so love to knit with (over and above the sheep's wool, that is), I will most certainly post an update here. It's a pretty large building, with a lot of booths of antiques, each with their own little specialties. We saw a dazzling array of things, everything from comic books to estate jewelry, to vintage oil cans. Lots of furniture on display. Some hand crafts, but not too many, mostly Mennonite quilts. I could have probably spent an entire day in this place, and there were times when Lee was poring over some of the booths as well. There's a central area for payment, and people there were nice and friendly. It was like going through a little museum in a way. I'd definitely give this place a visit if you're eating lunch or dinner here.

It was later in the day but our late arrival did not stop Steve and his wife from allowing us to browse undisturbed. They kindly sought out several project boards from the back room that had not been on display yet. We purchased three beautiful slab boards and some other items, among them a very hard to find replacement lever for my Jointer. I was surprised how little it cost and was very impressed with the variety of other wood products, tools, abrasives and cabinet hardware. Too much to list. I would surely have bought more if it wasn't so after closing time. We intend to go back every time we pass through Embro and can only hope this gem stays around longer. Carlo & Lori from Hamilton.
