However, I had a great experience at my new dentist's office today. Dr. Chitra Nagaraj, BDS, DMD (2228 South Street, Leesburg, FL 34748, phone: 352-431-3570), is a graduate of Rutgers University. My appointment was scheduled for 9:15 a.m., and I arrived at 9:00 a.m. Immediately, I was greeted by a kind staff member who escorted me to the dental chair and proceeded with the X-rays. I explained that I had difficulty holding the X-rays in my mouth, and she was very considerate, ensuring I was comfortable. Her patience and care truly eased my anxiety, especially since I hadn't been to the dentist in a few years. After the X-rays were completed, Dr. Nagaraj entered the room for a thorough examination. She explained that I had a cracked filling and a small, raised bump in my mouth and detailed the steps I needed to correct these issues. I was particularly impressed by a few things: the office was immaculate, and Dr. Nagaraj cleaned my teeth instead of having a hygienist do it. The treatment areas are very modern, scrupulously clean and well designed. However, they are a specialty so things aren't covered by most insurance WITHOUT a referral. So now I'm getting a $100 bill for items that I was never informed of. When I called they told me, "we aren't a general dentistry", funny how that was not told to me when, I called to make an appointment for my 6 month cleaning and checkup, filled out the paperwork or told when I was there. Needless to say....first and last time here. Also, I saw the Dr. a total of 3 mins. The rest of the time was with someone who cleaned my teeth. And how is that not a general dentist???
