There are limited coffee options this side of town, although Rundle St is starting to offer some good produce, and Espresso Classico serves up traditional Italian coffee and patisserie treats that ain't shabby. The service is quick, everything served is home made by the bakery out the back and the coffee isn't amazing but it isn't ordinary either. Classic offering with a lovely indoor and outdoor seating area that makes this place perfect for a "drop in" coffee if you're in the area.

However, they have some really nice outdoor seating, under a big roof with heaters - a great place for any business meeting. They offer all the traditional cafe fare, such as a classic piadina, biscotti, chinotto etc. and I get the impression that they take great care with their food, which they make onsite. Perhaps not the sort of place you'd travel across town to visit, but a great little place in this area of Norwood/Kent Town.

Perhaps you have met her at the Adelaide Farmers Market serving up delicious treats, or on a Sunday at the Market Shed on Holland cooking up a huge paella! You may even know her from her amazing art that she exhibits around the city. Now you can see her in action and try her delicious creations at Jamface, in the heart of the Adelaide Central Market. I had high hopes for this place as I was following the journey on Instagram and I have definitely enjoyed Poh's culinary offerings at various markets around town. Luckily they have delivered and I can see myself having many delicious meals here in times to come. I've seen a lot of 'celebrity' cafes and restaurants in my time but I have yet to see the actual founder of the place working there *cough Jamie's Italian cough*. Jamface is where that differs. Everytime I have eaten there (or even just walked past) I have seen the founder Poh working away in the kitchen, whether it's putting together the gorgeous looking pastries and cakes (the signature milly filly looks AMAZING), or cooking bacon to top a delicious breakfast. She will even sign your cookbook for you if you bring it with you. The breakfasts here are far from 'standard', Poh is willing to experiment and her flavour combinations are both unusual and brilliant. Who would have thought that radish, cucumber, avocado and tabasco could make for a most delicious breakfast?! The service here is also super friendly and when time allows the staff will have a chat with you about your plans for the day or make recommendations on what to have for breakky (which helps me as I am a serial bad decision maker)! I highly recommend checking out this cute little place next time you are looking for something a bit different and delicious in the markets :)

All the more amazing was that the taste of the sandwich mainly came from the combination of fresh ingredients - bacon, spinach, tomato, eggs, to name a few. Thought their coffee was so-so though. I normally don't like coffee which has an acidic taste and their coffee was this type. It's probably just a matter of taste and I don't claim to know anything about coffee - I just like ones which smell and taste like a rich roast. Though their menu charmingly claims they "cook the best Chinese food" and that we "cannot afford to miss it", I suggest you do. We are also advised, "don't forget to pin up our menu in your kitchen" as, wait for it - "it will help the housewife". Naturally I love these pearls of wisdom but can only see this menu being of help to wifey-poo if she is planning on pissing off all around her big-time with bad Chinese food. After driving past this humble shop-front for years, this week I ventured in to road test the theory of the best Chinese food being found in the daggiest of places. Not so. With a revolving door menu of over 150 dishes nothing jumped out at me. I went with the old-school litmus test of special fried rice, and salt and pepper squid. I couldn't see S&P on the menu and hoped it was an oversight on one of our behalves. Nope. I had to ask why. Surely any Chinese restaurant worth its salt and pepper caters for our still rife obsession with this cephalopod dish? The young girl informed me, "when my father took over here it wasn't on the menu and no-one has ever taught him". Ahhh, both sweet and infuriating at the same time. I sucked it up and compromised for some foo yung action - Chinese omelette with crab meat and mushroom. Pity my carry bag got the best of the sauce - here's my own wordly wisdom - when packaging up a wet dish - please seal the lid. Its star ingredient, the crab, did a very good impression of sliced seafood extender. The wheels continued to fall off my road-test after encountering florescent orange shrimps with severe cases of dehydration in the rice. They had the size and appeal of earwigs. Should you want to party with the Lucky Dragon you can get the minimum banquet cost of $35 per person reduced to $30 - if there's 100 of you. You lucky dog. Oh well, you win some, you lose some, and if you're happy to let this dragon take you for a ride, you'll get a smile from her surrounds. They include a wall clock mounted on a pretty etching of some kittens, in a tree (?), and a "Leeds Lemonade" soft drinks fridge who's lived here so long it's turned retro on itself.

It's not a big place and it's not that flash from the outside but upon entry I was greeted warmly, with a smile, and had my coffee order immediately attended to whilst I perused the large wall menu, large in actual size not choice but I didn't need lots. I opted for a classic egg bacon brioche burger and it ticked all the boxes. The bun remained intact to the very end, the seasoning was just right, the ingredients were delicious, the coffee was awesome, and I left very happy. I almost left with a take away but I had to leave in a rush and the lovely barista was busy with the dishes. Next time.

A cubby house is Nestle in the rear of the garden to entertain the little ones and it's perhaps one of the most dog friendly cafes in Adelaide. An absolute hidden gem.

It was, in fact a cross between cornbread and a frittata- cheesey, with lots of corn, sweet potato and other veggies, topped with pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds. So good! It was served warm with butter and chilli jam (which had a bit of a kick to it). It was very filling and my dining partner had to finish it off. I also had a muesli bar. This was like a dense peanut butter slice with dried fruits, nuts and coconut in it. It was filling and tasty. Again, my dining partner had to assist. Finally, my dining partner got a blondie, which I tasted. So yum! The third fab thing about this place is that it is dog friendly. I mean, they really seem to like dogs. The back courtyard is DogLand, with its own private entrance from the rear alley, buckets of water and dog wandering space. Homemade dog treats can be purchased from the bakery inside. They have an extensive cold pressed juice menu - I loved my orange & ruby grapefruit (insider tip aren't on the menu but up on an inconspicuous chalkboard) and the French Toast was to die for namely because of the amazing berry sauce/jam -- if you have a sweet tooth then this is for you. My partner had the seasonal breakfast with bacon and although enjoyable overall the bacon seemed to be boiled not fried which he didn't particularly love. The service was friendly and it's table service which is always a lovely touch and seems to be a long lost art these days.
