I'm curious as to others experience with this company -- I took a chance on them as I'd seen some…read morearticles on hard drive repair by someone affiliated with the company. My experience was as follows: 1) Laptop hard drive fails. It is new enough as to be under warranty still, but we really want the data so we decide to look into recovery. Even if it takes a few months I figure I can still recover the data and then get the drive replaced (manufactures will replace an opened drive under warranty if the recovery company can indicate it was opened only for recovery). 2) Filled out all necessary forms, sent in bad hard drive in addition to a new one as requested for the recovered data to be transferred onto. There is a $50 fee for this, but that's OK with me as it will take them some effort to diagnose the problem. 3) I received an e-mail letting me know they received the drive. 4) About a week and a half after receiving my drive they let me know the motor was seized and this could be fixed by doing a platter exchange. This would require a donor drive which could take some time to find a proper match. They would keep me posted on the progress. It has now been about 1 full year since they received my drive. I have received exactly 1 unsolicited e-mail to keep me updated on the progress. After a few months I asked if there were other options or how long do we search for before giving up and I have never been given any answer other than they are still looking. I am hesitant to give them such a bad review as I realize that finding a matching hard drive must be difficult (even if this wasn't a super old drive), but the lack of communication on top of the failure justifys the rating I believe.

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST!…read more While I usually do regular backups, there was one single file that was critical for me and I have somehow failed to back it up. I knew approximately what is wrong with my drive as I worked as an IT support for many years and I have seen/heard the same symptoms many times (R/W heads stuck to the platter). On top of that I researched and confirmed the symptoms in HDD recovery forum when a lot of people had similar problem. I know this always is not true, but in my case it later turned out to be the correct initial analysis. My experience with this company: 1) They made me believe they are experts on data recovery (maybe the owner is, but hes is not the guy who will work on your drive) 2) I sent my drive in 3) After a while their diagnosis comes in that the PCB and firmware are damaged and needs to be replaced. 4) When their hunt for spare drive takes more than 6 weeks I start looking on my own. 5) I find and buy the spare drive, I send it in. 6) The tech e-mails me that the PCB replacement and chip transplant did not work, and he is not able to read/write the firmware for the drive, therefore the drive is BEYOND recovery. - OF COURSE it does not work, when you replace the WRONG chip. - OF COURSE you are not able to read/write the firmware, when USB 3.0 interface was not supported by PC-3000 recovery tool back then. - OF COURSE it does not work, when you ignore the encryption chip. Looks like the tech was trying bunch of other things around, including opening the drive. This finally freed that R/W heads, but since the chips were swapped and the heads were now misaligned, the drive was only spinning, not even recognized by OS. 7) The tech ships the drives back to me. One chip and all screws from the patient drive are MISSING. When I inquire about the chip and screws, I am told that it is not their policy to return parts that are not needed anymore. Again, the guy couldn`t read it, because the USB 3.0 was not supported yet, therefore he concludes the chip is dead and throws it into a garbage ;o)))) Or maybe uses it for some other drive recovery job? Who knows. (Luckily for me, it was not the drive specific chip and chip from donor drive could be used instead.) 8) I don`t give up. I go to a recognized Data recovery company for a second opinion. They diagnose correctly the problem (plus the problem of misaligned heads because the drive was opened by the previous company) and recover. Not for cheap, but they do. LESSONS LEARNED: 1) If your data is important, AVOID this and many other companies offering to recover for cheap. They hardly ever do, usually it ends up on paying their diagnosis fee and the result is "we cannot recover it". Also your data will have a lower chance for recovery after they play with the drive. 2) Create good backup plan and Backup your data regularly. 3) DO not BLINDLY believe everything the DR company says. Do your research, try to find people with similar problem on forums and what their results were. THEY WERE NICE BUT THEY DID NOT HELP...

Ron was compassionate, sympathetic, and professional. He talked in plain English with me about the nature of the types of viruses and trojans that compromised my father's PC. He set up an Admin account for me and a User sign in for my father to prevent unwanted software from being installed and made further security suggestions. Ron even offered to print out a detailed receipt for my father to give to his bank to certify a professional cleaned the PC. I wouldn't hesitate to use Everything Computers again. The experience was pleasant and a bright light through this whole fiasco. Thanks Ron, and thanks Everything Computers!

Double Thumbs up, and nothing needed just a few updates, and recommendations on some items to keep an eye on. No pressure to buy anything. Both Trent and Ron are doing great in keeping my old clunker running well. If you not sure about your computer/Ipad/laptop give them a opportunity to check out.
