I was on my way back home after visiting with family, and a family friend suggested we eat here. I knew nothing about the place other than that they liked it. Consider me convinced. It's an old school family run businesses, and if I'm being extra honest, small town family run are some of my favorite businesses around, but they can also be the beneficiaries of being busy because there's less choice and they're not very good. Not the case here. You're likely to get served by the friendliest server north of the border, Marie. She was the ONLY server in a busy restaurant, I believe this was by design, as she doesn't skip a beat. Super friendly and helpful, and not the least bit bothered by the fact she's got a full house all to herself and many others in her place would be flustered. Any questions we have, she was ready to answer in a helpful manner. She gets six stars in a five star town. Awesome. I ordered the schnitzel and my god, MY GOD, it's freaking delicious!! Total home run, zero complaints about this amazing dish. Those overly crisped spots that you often get on a schnitzel because it's a bit thin and thus tricky to cook? Not here. Perfect breading. Portion the size of a license plate. Comes with what looks like bread, but is actually a flour dumpling cut like bread. It's topped with home gravy which is tasty without being too salty, often the case with gravy. Veg side has a nice sweetness to it and the tartar sauce is a awesome mix of herbs and garlic. The dish I got didn't include sauerkraut, but I sampled from my moms plate and it's also a home run. Amazing consistency and taste. I don't know if they make this in house, but I'd guess they do and if they don't, they've chosen well. The chefs here have gotten their levels down to a tee, and it's amazing. Last, but definitely not least, the prices. For two people, schnitzel and sausage dinner (comes with two sausages, rice, and a generous side of sauerkraut) it was $40. How they do this I don't know, but this is a business run out of love, not for pure profit. It's an amazing deal, and amazing food and service to make it the trifecta! An unassuming spot with fabulous home-cooked food. The Bohemian chicken I had was delicious, and others in my group had amazing meatloaf and incredibly yummy schnitzel, which had a fantastic tartar sauce with it. The portions were HUGE and satisfying. We were also fortunate enough to have an entire Black Forest Cake prepared for our group to celebrate a birthday, and it was moist and beyond decadent. read more

Not too many restaurants stand out around here but this place goes above and beyond. It's quite the trek to come for a meal here but it's worth it. I usually get the platter. Comes with a tasty schnitzel, a sausage, chicken Paris these buttery potatoes to die for sauerkraut and veggies...man it fills you up. But no matter how full I still have to have one of their many homemade deserts. Apple strudel, cakes, crepes....does the belly good. You owe yourself to check this place out. read more

Yummy schnitzels and desserts that taste like your own home-cooked meal! Not a big fan of Bohemian Schnitzel though, found it too heavy on the batter and oily. Regular Schnitzel is very good. Nice cabbage salad but rice was bit too dry for my likings. Apple strudel and chocolate cakes were heavenly. Comes with small fruit pieces and light cream on the side. I guess the atmosphere/decor can always improve but for a small town restaurant, it really feels like 'my place' dining room. I would love to try their other dishes! read more

Amazing home made European style specialities. So far we've had schnitzels, Pork Dracula (red wine and pork stew), fish and chips, and the Gypsy combo plate. Everything has been freshly and expertly prepared. Desserts are special as well. If you like chocolate, try the mocha cake! read more

Another great dinner. We remembered eating here 6 years ago when passing on our boat in the Rideau Canal. It has not changed. Wonderful basically Czech food. I had the combo with schnitzel, sausage and chicken with potato dumplings. The sausage was incredible, schnitzel was tasty but a bit dry. Wife had a lovely white fish filet. We recently were in Czech and the cooking was reminiscent of Prague. This is not haute cuisine but basic good east European fare. No wine or beer available. A nice pilsner would have been great. Desserts looked great but we passed on those, too full. read more

This place is delicious, all the food is made fresh and from scratch. Definitely need to make a reservation and come hungry for dessert :) service is also friendly and you often get to meet the owners who always check to see if your satisfied with your meal.
