Amazing experience. GREAT comfort food with the homemade touch. All of our meals were full of flavour. Staff were excellent. Over great experience, and we came here twice to eat - even though we were only in this town for one night!! Well worth checking out!

My husband and I had a very pleasant dinner. We ordered the junior chicken schnitzel with a salad. The schnitzel was very tasty. The service was quick and friendly. We really enjoyed our dinner. We would recommend this place.

My better half and I decided to go up to Gananoque Canada for an early dinner and she picked the Maple Leaf Restaurant . For an appetizer we picked the bacon sauerkraut pierogies, awesome. For main courses I had the Rahm Schnitzel with spaetzle and creamy mushroom sauce WOW I would recommend this and was so good!! She had the Chicken Schnitzel jr size with potato salad which she liked and was moist. All in all if you're looking for Czech style food this place is top notch, we will be back!!!

Maple Leaf Grill is the great gem of Gananoque. Every element of this family restaurant was superb, from the rye bread starter to the drinks to the bacon and onion-topped pierogis to the cheese and prosciutto stuffed and topped Schnitzel, to the potato and spaetzle, to the blueberry streusel dessert. It's definitely a local, family restaurant, with friendly wait staff who have great recommendations. Sit down, relax, peer out onto King Street and spend an evening with a cavalcade of great German and Czechoslovakian dishes. You can taste the love and care that only can from a dinner made from scratch. They also have traditional fare ... I just was too busy savoring my schnitzel to notice!

How many times have you found yourself in Gananoque and asked yourself, "Where can I find myself a great schnitzel? I wish I could have one." Well, wish no further. The Maple Leaf will save you. Though named the Maple Leaf, the motif of wooden tables, chairs, and booths in the front of the house gives it a slightly European feel. Which is probably a good thing since the owners are from Prague. A family-run business for sure, you are able to taste freshness in the food on offer. Though Canadian favourites do appear on the menu, it is the European dishes where the Maple Leaf truly shines. The schnitzel in particular is as good if not better as you'll find in some of the more staunch European neighbourhoods in Toronto. On days when the goulash is available, pounce at the opportunity. Done as a special, it truly lives up to the title, a dark richness in both texture and taste. The meals can all be complimented with a decent dessert menu if there's room for dessert. There usually is not when I go. Seriously, schnitzel in Gananoque. Who knew?

It's an old school family run businesses, and if I'm being extra honest, small town family run are some of my favorite businesses around, but they can also be the beneficiaries of being busy because there's less choice and they're not very good. Not the case here. You're likely to get served by the friendliest server north of the border, Marie. She was the ONLY server in a busy restaurant, I believe this was by design, as she doesn't skip a beat. Super friendly and helpful, and not the least bit bothered by the fact she's got a full house all to herself and many others in her place would be flustered. Any questions we have, she was ready to answer in a helpful manner. She gets six stars in a five star town. Awesome. I ordered the schnitzel and my god, MY GOD, it's freaking delicious!! Total home run, zero complaints about this amazing dish. Those overly crisped spots that you often get on a schnitzel because it's a bit thin and thus tricky to cook? Not here. Perfect breading. Portion the size of a license plate. Comes with what looks like bread, but is actually a flour dumpling cut like bread. It's topped with home gravy which is tasty without being too salty, often the case with gravy. Veg side has a nice sweetness to it and the tartar sauce is a awesome mix of herbs and garlic. The dish I got didn't include sauerkraut, but I sampled from my moms plate and it's also a home run. Amazing consistency and taste. I don't know if they make this in house, but I'd guess they do and if they don't, they've chosen well. The chefs here have gotten their levels down to a tee, and it's amazing. Last, but definitely not least, the prices. For two people, schnitzel and sausage dinner (comes with two sausages, rice, and a generous side of sauerkraut) it was $40. How they do this I don't know, but this is a business run out of love, not for pure profit. It's an amazing deal, and amazing food and service to make it the trifecta! If you're in the Smiths Falls area, go here. Worth the trip!
