The staff is very welcoming, knowledgable and very willing to spend time with the clients to make sure they have a great shopping experience. With my wife being a knitter we have visited many knit shops throughout the country and Canada and this shop by far has the most inventory of any shop we have been to. Although some of the products are a bit pricey you are paying for a quality product so it is worth it in the long run. They also offer lessons which we were not able to partake in but i am sure they are very good. Oh and did I mention that they are very friendly and fun to talk with. I am not exaggerating when I say I shrieked with delight when we walked through the gate to find this wonderland of happiness! First, it's on Mountain Ave - omg I want to live here. Second, the "carriage house" store greeters, 2 tiny dogs, came barreling out to meet us - made my heart squee! Third, this store is utterly charming. Within minutes I knew I wanted to be best friends with these sisters! Julie and Diana are fun and knowlegable and so helpful. I continue to *love* this place. They have the latest yarns, patterns and so many beautiful, I mean beautiful, products in general. The gorgeous samples entice you to buy more yarn and the corresponding pattern, to make them for yourself or loved one. I have taken several classes here and all were top notch. The owner and her team are super helpful and extremely kind. The vibe here is fabulous and full of positive energy. Would give zero stars if possible. The woman who was there when we went in was unwelcoming barely acknowledged us but gave attention to everyone else in the store. We picked a pattern and a yarn she printed the pattern in a funky way that made it hard to read and then offered to twist up the yarn for us and she did a terrible job we had to redo the whole thing when we got home. We tried to ignore this everyone has bad days but then come to find out she didn't sell us the right yarn for the pattern even though she was specifically asked if that yarn worked and she said yes. We are from out of town so we called to try to figure out if we could order some of the right yarn or get any sort of help at all and the lady in the phone had the audacity to say that it's helpful for them to know what pattern we are using when we are selling the yarn to you. LOL ! Honestly so disappointed in the people who run this shop. If you don't care about the way you're treated in an establishment and never need any help this is the place for you. Short version: fiber-holics mothership! The experience is addictively positive. The shop is on the prettiest boulevard in Fort Collins. Look to park on the street and walk up the driveway towards the back ofnthe brick house because the shop is in the garage behind the pretty brick house. Look for the low white fence gate decorated with flowers, let yourself in the gate and head up the driveway towards the garage. Say hello to the best behaved and housed backyard hens on the right, and the gaggle of knitters at the garden table to the left, and do not be intimidated by the ancient greeter who barks at everything. He's small and harmless. Enter the remodeled 2 story garage and you're in fiber heaven, with staff who feel more like instant friends than staff that know and love yarn and knitting. They have an amazing selection of yarns! Be prepared to want everything. I've never been in there when they didn't go above my expectations and make my visit pleaseant. I went at Thanksgiving week 2022, they recognized me, despite not seeing me for over 2 years. They asked about my mother, who was the local, and who often brought me with her, over decades of visits, and who bought many projects there to make me. They asked me about her. When I told them she had passed away from covid a year ago, they were genuinely caring and shocked. They helped me pick out what I needed and offered me my mom's credits on top of the existing sale price, and didn't stop there, they trusted me to pay later when my credit cards were all declined. Superb selection of yarns. So many samples labeled with the pattern and yarn ; and the pattern is displayed nearby to purchase. Perfect! No confusion or hunting for pattern name, etc. The shop is well organized. I found so many great yarns and patterns. I love indie dyers and this shop had so many. I was immediately greeted upon entering and offered a tour of the shop layout. I was thrilled. Often I am ignored in yarn stores. Not so here. I felt welcomed. My son lived in Fort Collins, Colorado in 2014-2015. I stumbled across My Sister Knits and every visit would go there ( we live on Long Island, New York). Recently I retired, the pandemic hit, my local yarn store closed and I was forced to go into my stash. I had purchased yarn and a pattern at My Sister Knits but never did a gauge swatch. Finally I am ready to start my project and I don't have enough yarn ;( I called the shop and a wonderful woman named Tina answered and volunteered to see if she had any at home since there was none in the store and Shibui had discontinued the yarn. I have been a customer for many years. I am always warmly greeted when entering. Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Last October I purchased a kit to make a hat. Being a typical knitter, I brought it home and added it to my stash without looking in the bag. The other day I decided I needed a quick, easy project so I grabbed the hat kit. Imagine my surprise when I found I was missing one color of yarn. I drove over to the shop and explained my problem. The lady( sorry I didn't get her name) immediately took care of the problem.we figured out which color was missing and replaced the ball of yarn. I just started trying to knit (teaching myself) and had a friend recommend this store. There yarn is exquisite and the time and care the staff take to make sure that you have everything you need is wonderful. They have created a beautifully welcoming place for knitters, and even invited me to come in and sit to knit anytime. They offered assistance to help if I get stuck or make a mistake (as a beginner this happens often), and even pulled up my pattern to make sure that I had all the supplies I needed. I a recent visit to a friend in Fort Collins, I had an opportunity to visit My Sister Knits. Visiting local yarn shops on my vacations is an important recreational activity for me and a chance to meet new people, get ideas for my knitting, and perhaps find local yarns. My visit to My Sister Knits was a highlight of my trip. The landscaping is gorgeous, the shop is thoughtfully designed, quiet, and pleasant, and Julie welcomed me as if she already knew me. Her shop is behind her home; at one point during my visit, I asked about a restroom. So she just directed me to her house! This is not a shop where the owner will suspiciously follow you around. It was just the right touch of support. We chatted about our current projects and she gave me several resources for patterns and designers. I found a beautiful sample of a baby dress that Julie had just finished. I purchased the pattern on Ravelry from my phone on the spot and found the perfect yarn for it. I am a beginner knitter and the highlight of my day was to visit My Sister Knits to get beautiful yarn to start some beginner stitches. If you have not brushed up on knitting terminology expect to be treated with a blank stare. I stated that I was a beginner and hoped to be helped with good customer service, but the service was lacking. I felt that the person helping me was very cold, unwelcoming, unfriendly and very snobby and did not help me with my beginner questions without looking like I was an idiot. She made me feel like I did not belong there. All I wanted was to be treated kindly and warmly. I have never felt so uncomfortable trying to answer questions that I did not know the answer to since I did not know the terms. I wished I would have left and not purchased anything since I do not take kindly to horrible guest service. I was pretty stunned at the time and went along with the purchase. I definitely will never re-visit the store and too bad since it is in my neighborhood. It really ruined my day. I will look elsewhere to buy products. I work in guest service and the bottom line to excellent service is just to be kind and knowledgeable and treat everyone the way you want to be treated.
