I found a hidden gem in Columbia South Carolina. Honestly had ZERO interest in visiting this city,…read moreuntil I realized this was the closest (by hours) place for experiencing a high-tea (or afternoon tea.) Generally organized as a social club, co-working space for WFH or self-employed individuals, there is this tiny little separate piece just for those with refined taste for great food, teas, and cultural experiences lost to most of the US. The owner is one-of-a-kind. She is a true GEM! She made most of the small bites, finger sandwiches, scones, and delectables herself in the attached kitchen of this very large (and historic) home, and gets the tea locally. She caters to the needs of those dining for the tea service in every way possible and I am BEGGING her to open one in Greenville. HA! My friends and I witnessed a few people quietly working in rented rooms (we went exploring) but it was honestly very peaceful and empty. The house was so big you could literally get lost in it. We were seated in the old parlor/entry room of the home, sipped our tea in the morning light, as intended in a home of that grandeur, and giggled and ooed over how amazing every single detail was. You have to call in advance to make reservations, and the owner is feeling-out interest for this kind of thing, but my advice is call NOW, today! Make a reservation and head to Columbia, make an experience of it. Because it. was. worth. it. And SO affordable compared to other tea experiences I have had in other areas of the country. Small details: Parking was free out front, its a big pink house (you cant miss it) and definitely demand a scone to take home in advance. it will be worth it.

So the review is mixed and should be higher but for the last paragraph…read more This is located on the top floor of the building and the views are amazing. Your greeted right away upon exiting the elevator but from their things broke down a bit. I had called to changed the reservation from 8 to 6 and had that confirmed by email, but they never received it. We had some of our party without a sport coat, so we were not allowed to eat in the main dining room, and they quickly set us up in the lounge. I get it and we should overall the service was pretty good, she was nervous and unsure but the rest of the staff supported her well. The appetizers were amazing and as good as they look in our images At the end of the night, we walked out and poked our head in the main dining room, only to find it with almost no one in there, and the guest that were DID NOT HAVE SPORT COATS I immediately went back to the host who would not seat us and she promptly handed me a business card and said call the manager

The Capital City Club is one of the "must see" places in Columbia. It is located on the 25th floor…read moreof the Trust building. There are multiple special events going on and the dress code is enforced. On a clear day, you can see for miles in each direction. The staff is friendly and even remembers your name after only a couple of visits. The food has always been outstanding. Parking can be difficult but there is a parking garage next to the building and many meters on Main Street and Assembly Street.
