I don't know if they are understaffed or overbooked, but they are disorganized and way behind. I made an appt for 10am. They open at 9am. I wasn't seen until After 11:15am. How are they an hour behind an hour after opening?! They also texted me twice and called me once to confirm my appt. My family & I have been patients at this location for 5+ years. We will never step foot in here again. Horrible service & experience. Months later and I'm still waiting for a call from the district manager. The store manager was rude and not eager to assist with fixing their screw up. My son wanted to try contacts for the first time. I made him an appointment for a contacts exam on a Saturday. Someone called to confirm his appointment but failed to tell me he would be required to attend a contact fitting class, that's only given during the week mid day. I wasn't informed until we checked in for the eye exam. I called the Kentlands location and they informed me if I purchased his contacts from their location, he could have his contact fitting at their location so I could proceed with the eye exam at the Germantown location. Once we finished the eye exam I got a call from the Kentlands location that he could no longer get his contacts at their location since his exam was at Germantown, after a call was made to them. We finally get an appointment for the contact fitting at the Germantown location, I had to check him out of school and miss work for this. He couldn't get the contacts in because the technique that he was shown on video was difficult. As a contact wearer for 15+ years, even I found it difficult and asked if he could take them home and I could show him. You have to get them in within one hour in the office. My son has ADHD so he was starting to feel overwhelmed as he was repeatedly reminded his time was almost up so he felt discouraged. This experience discouraged him so much he decided to stick to glasses. The technician who was attempting to help said it shouldn't be a problem for him to take them home since they frequently allow that. The DR decided he couldn't take them home. I called corporate to file a complaint, someone called me back and said he could go to the Kentlands for the class and a district manager would call me to confirm a time since they had to reorder his trial lens. Months later & I'm still waiting for that call. Don't waste your time. We had a much better experience at Visionworks in Gaithersburg's! Please give them a try instead if you're looking for great service & prices. read more

Came to located in Kentlands. Horrible !! Never on time ! I walked in for a 3:40pm and at 4:37pm was not seen. Nobody even approached us to tell us they were running behind or anything. I am healthcare provider and I could never leave a patient sitting there and not say anything to them especially if I'm an hour behind (but that would never happen in my office ) I walked out and left. I came to Germantown location and they weren't any better. Lady at check in was rude ! Also told me I can't wear my mask over or even under mask they gave me. I just came from Kentlants couple weeks ago and they didn't say anything when I wore mask over one I had. Being a dental hygienist I been wearing mask before pandemic and I own N95. There is nothing wrong with wearing two mask. And if this is Germantown protocol it should be the same across the board with all "MyeyeDr" read more

Optometrist made a correct assessment that I was indeed short-sighted probably a result of aging. However she made a terrible recommendation. Ended up with the most expensive recommendation (progressives) when all I needed was readers. Paid over $700 for something that I could have paid $200 for or less. Can't trust them. read more

Anyone who knows me knows that I value efficiency. I am very particular about how I spend my time, especially if I have made an appointment for a particular service. Nothing annoys me more than arriving on time (or a few minutes early) for an appointment and then having to wait.. and wait.. and wait. MyEyeDr seems to get that. It is evident that they appreciate their customers, and respect their time. I woke up this morning with my right eye swollen to about twice the size of my left. It was a little swollen and itchy yesterday so I tried putting ice on it last night. I woke up to find that the cold compress had actually made it worse. I called MyEyeDr first thing in the morning and Chris (who I think is the GM) answered the phone. He was super-sweet, patiently answered all 1001 of my questions, and booked me an appointment for later that morning. When I arrived, I was offered refreshment while I filled out the necessary paperwork. The ink on the forms was not yet dry, and the cup of tea I requested had not yet finished brewing, before I was taken back to see the doctor. Dr. Matthews was thorough in her exam, ruling out the possibility of stye (whew!). She concluded that the swelling was likely due to an allergic reaction from an insect bite. She sent my prescription directly to my pharmacy of choice and gave me their number so that I could call and see if it was ready before I arrived, saving me an unnecessary trip (or two) to the pharmacy. When the pharmacy failed to fill my prescription in a reasonable amount of time, the doctor suggested a homeopathic treatment option that worked just as well. Although the whole situation was a major annoyance (and a minor inconvenience), my experience with this office was anything but. I am so glad that they were able to see me on such short notice, and I cannot recommend MyEyeDr highly enough! read more

I went in today to pick up my glasses. I didn't get his name but the guy who helped me with everything was super nice. I came with my son and he's three. The guy offered him a coloring book, crayons and helped him get candy. It was a huge help for me and allowed me to take my time making sure my glasses were a good fit to my face and didn't slip or anything. I really appreciated him! read more

Terrible service here from staff and "practice manager" Chris. I called to inquire about a routine eye exam because these days I've been receiving blurred vision and chronic headaches. First I spoke to Naomi a receptionist whom wasn't the friendliest and then the manager Chris. They both denied my request of scheduling a visit because "'my insurance doesn't renew until March for a yearly exam". So essentially I would have to wait until then which I refuse to do because I will not tolerate this pain I'm feeling. The least these people could have done was offer 1 sample contact of my current prescription to last me but they would rather me pay. I will never go back to this place again. read more

She helped me order my glasses and contacts. She was funny, helpful, and caring. Not honest and provided wrong insurance coverage information. My wife made an appointment for my daughter last October for 1/19 as she was told if we waited until January, the insurance would cover majority of the costs and our out of pocket amount would be little over $100. However, when she went to the appointment with my daughter today, the lady who helped her told her the information she was provided was not accurate and our out of pocket amount would be over $400 instead. Annual eye visit recently. I think their system is fantastic: you call when you arrive and go through the COVID screening questions. They will then let you in, and provide you with a medical-grade mask. The whole system is well-designed so that everyone (patients and staff) can stay 6-feet apart. For the actual eye exam, there is an additional cover on the equipment, to help maintain distance between you and the doctor. Aside from taking the necessary COVID precautions, the appointment itself was fantastic. The entire staff takes time to go over what tests are being conducted, and how the results are used to determine the health of your eyes. I never felt like I was being rushed, and all of my questions and comments about my eye-care history were taken into account. No star for this location. Prior to booking the appointment I provided my insurance information along with my daughter's information. When I arrived I was greeted very nicely and asked to fill out paperwork and provide my insurance information. Half way through the exam, the optometrist says she could no longer continue the exam because she did not see children my daughter's age (6) and that I should see a pediatric optometrist. I was confused because I did not understand what exactly was going on but then I understood why the visit was cut short. First, the optometrist seems bothered by the fact that my 6 year old daughter is being curious and touching the equipment. Secondly, the optometrist then offers two pediatric optometrists' my daughter should go to because she needs "something". Thirdly, the optometrist then says these two optometrists' won't take my insurance. Then I think ok, is this person turning me away because I have state insurance which clearly I offered both my private and state insurance when I checked in with the receptionists'. I mean who does that!!!! The optometrist is saying all this in front of my daughter... I guess my daughter is not worthy of being seen by My Eye Doctor because I have state insurance and because she is 6 YEARS OLD!!!!!!!!!!! I AM APPAULED AND HUMILIATED BY THE WAY MY DAUGHTER AND I WERE TREATED. THIS OPTOMETRIST DID A DISERVICE AND PERFORMED UNETHICALLY AND WITH TOTAL DISREGARD THAT I TOOK TIME OFF OF WORK TO COME HERE TO HAVE MY DAUGHTER'S EYES CHECKED. GET THIS!!! THE OPTOMETRIST EVEN TELLS ME WHICH EYE IS CONCERNING AND TELLS ME MY INSURANCE WILL NOT BE BILLED FOR THE INCONVENICE CAUSED FOR THE VISIT. I FELT SO LITTLE AND FELT LIKE I WAS BEING TURNED AWAY BECAUSE THIS OPTOMETRIST WAS CIRCUMVENTING THE FACT THAT EITHER SHE CAN'T HANDLE MY KID OR BECAUSE I HAVE STATE INSURANCE. WHICH IS IT!!!! The first time I went to MyEyeDr. store at Century Blvd Germantown was around November of 2018. Since then I've become a regular costumer with almost all of my family members. I like the location of the store, selections of their glasses/sunglasses, but most of all the costumer service I receive each time. When you enter the door you'd be welcome with a bright smile! Ron is a talented young gentleman who's very good at what he does. Very professional and courteous and when he's working with you, his attention is completely there. " like you're his only costumer " He takes his time to order, adjusts, walks you through, listens to you and responds honesty! " I asked his opinion about 2 glasses and he responded with complete honesty, not telling me to pick the one that might have been more expensive! " shirley always greets you with her big smile and is just the same as Ron. Last time I went to the store another young gentleman took care of my glasses and he was just the same and very knowledgeable with his job. Eye exam was fine. Charged me 60 dollars for fitting exam which only takes 2 minutes and the doctor already knows what types of lenses I have been wearing. I didn't ask for any changes. At the end, I did get the same prescription last my previous year. No understanding what was the purpose of fitting test. The sale person threatens me that if I am not buying their contacts today, I lose the benefits and everything. It doesn't sound that he is offering an opinions. I mean the customer has right to choose what they want. read more

I went to this facility because my optometrist moved to MyEyeDr and this office. She was good and I wanted to continue to see her. This was fine until she moved on to some place in Georgia. After that, I was passed on to new optometrists that passed me on to the sales people in the outer office. I appears that their business model is to get patients in, get their prescription, then sell them as many glasses and contacts as they can. Not only more glasses, but more expensive glasses, with more features. Then they give you a "free" cleaning kit or a "free" glasses case. Then, I moved to another city, way out of driving range of Gaithersburg. I continued to get emails from MyEyeDr Inc. I tried three times to unsubscribe to this email list I never signed up for. They just won't quit!! Even if there was another MyEyeDr close to me, I wouldn't go, because I would be wary of the upselling in the front room and the continued marketing afterwards. read more
