I suppose the five stars is a little inflated due to having graduated, but it really is a great school. The academics are tough, but it still manages to be a mostly laid-back environment. The best part is probably all of our dorky traditions like Greeks and Romans and the yam festival that we all get so excited about. We'll see how things go now that Fran is gone, but hopefully things won't change too much. I sincerely hope no one is basing whether to send his or her child to a school based on yelp, but if you are, I say you couldn't find a better school for your daughter in the Pasadena area.

The teachers at Fusion were so encouraging, compassionate, and creative, and admin gives them the flexibility to change things up to meet the student's needs. They work with kids with learning differences as well as with the gifted--in the case of my child, he is a combination of both! Classes are held 1:1, which is ideal for some kids, but certainly not for everyone. Communication with parents is consistent (daily). Staff is friendly, positive, and personal. In addition, the physical environment is soothing and beautiful. Their graduation ceremony was the most personalized and meaningful one I have ever attended. The only drawbacks are that there is no play yard, though they are able to walk to a nearby park, and the school is small, so the social interactions are naturally a bit limited. However, the staff works hard to facilitate socializing. If you are seeking a school that is nothing like traditional school, check out Fusion!

No single rooms, but has a library (usually messy), a theater room, computer room, and three small sitting areas in corners of hallways. Like other houses, it has a lounge area which has a pool table, ping pong table, foosball table, fireplace, and some TVs and consoles. The dining hall is regular sized but often has free waiter service. It has outdoor sheds and a deck with a hot tub that occasionally is in use. One of the kitchens is one of the largest on campus, and it is located close to the mail boxes and the mail room. Some rooms will have bunk beds but many have 'lofts' which are beds attached to the ceiling instead of being on the floor, so this saves a lot of space. Generally is clean and bug free, but often leftover dinner food is left out over the weekends. Has a gender neutral bathroom as well as male/female ones!

Over the course of the two years in which he attended Futures Academy, he completed his course work, drastically improved his GPA, made friends, and is truly a changed young man. The small class size and 1:1 attention he received from teachers and counselors made all the difference. As you can imagine I had so many questions .When I called, I asked to speak to someone that would be able to tell me about the program. I was then connected to Ann Perry. I bombarded her with so many questions. She was extremely nice and patient with me. Never made me feel as if I was asking too many questions. She is so amazing. Not only did she answer my questions, but she also offer to email me more information. By the end of the call, we set up an appointment for an assessment. My daughter suffered a TBI 2 years ago. So a lot has changed for us and a lot is also new to us. Ann truly made me feel so comfortable. After setting up the appointment, I then found out who I had been speaking to. Ann is the Director of Lindamood -Bell. That just made it even more special. As a Director, you tend to be busy and she took the time to explain everything so thoroughly. On the date of our appointment as soon as we walked in, we were greeted by every, and I mean every single employee that walked by us. Everyone was so nice. Some even called my daughter by her name. After the assessment, I met again with Ann. She again reassured me to feel free to stop her at any given time and ask her as many questions as needed. She was thorough,patient and very informative.
