    Curlew pond area

Lovely area, ponds are great for swimming, very family friendly. Some campsites are a little dirty with litter. Stayed in curlew pond area - only ONE water spigot at the bathhouse near the basketball courts - maps point to the three others, but they either don't work or don't exist. I recommend staying close to a bathroom as it can be a dark, long walk in the middle of the night. No camp store so bring everything you need, or drive to Plymouth for ice and supplies. Also, SO MANY TICKS ON HIKING TRAILS NOW!!!! We turned around due to heavy ticks. Stay on paved roads and pathways for safety.

We came here during phase 3 of COVID, so things were open, but still needed social distance and masks. We started out going on a hike, we did not have a map so basically walked in one direction and turned around. Lovely trail, near Bentley loop that was not crowded (it was about 8am). Then we decided to head over to the beach, College Pond and it wasn't great. When we got to the parking lot, the guy giving us the low down, did not have a mask on. If he is talking to customers, he should have had a mask. Several people had speakers the size of a large cooler, blaring their music. It was almost like there was a competition for who could play the loudest music. The refreshments stand looked straight out of the 80's, you would have thought I was at camp crystal lake and Jason was going to pop out. I don't know if it was shut down because of the pandemic or if it was an abandon building. Bathrooms were super old, and kinda gross. I can't say we are going to go back anytime soon

    Charge Pond Campsite

We had a lovely two night stay here Saturday and Sunday night. I was apprehensive after I read some reviews about the site being loud and disgusting, but I found it to be neither of those things. I would say it was similar to our camping experience at Hammonassett State Park in Connecticut. There were mostly families and couples. I personally did not think that the camp sites were too close together, in fact I thought they were more spacious than Hammonassett. There was forest brush between neighboring campsites and ours, so it felt semi-private too. Most campsites had enough room for two cars and two tents in them. The site is sandy and not grassy, and includes a grill and picnic table. It was very clean. We slept pretty well. Outside there were surprisingly few bugs: a few small ants, moths and caterpillers were all we saw. Quiet hours were not strictly enforced, but close enough that it wasn't an issue. It quieted down before midnight each night. I used ear plugs because the birds start singing at 4AM and that was a bigger issue in my opinion. We stayed in Area A of Charge Pond. The pond was beautiful and almost beach like. There were lots of canoes and shady spots. The water was the perfect temperature by late afternoon. It's a really beautiful park and has a calming effect. The park staff is very friendly and we saw them patrol in the morning and evening. There are lots of trails for biking. The campground smelled of pine and campfires, very crisp and clean. At night you see so many stars here! It was beautiful. There were a couple of unpleasantries, but most I've encountered at other campsites: that one tent that you pass that always reeks of pot (thankfully it was not near ours), public bathrooms that smell a bit like pee (though we did see people come to clean the bathrooms, so at least they try here!), and you have to purchase fire wood from headquarters rather than bring it in from outside. The one thing that did annoy me: One of the 3 sinks in the ladies room was out of order, as was one of the 3 showers, and the showers don't drain quickly. Despite this though, I really liked this campsite and overall had a very pleasant stay. We would go back. Some tips: the park is huge, so add 15 minutes to your travel time because headquarters is 15 minutes from the entrance. The showers in Charge Pond have hot water, but the temperature labels are backwards: it goes from hot to cold, not cold to hot. Don't suffer through a cold shower! Remember to look up at night. The stars are really breathtaking here.

Just returned from a great weekend in yurt A at Myles Standish. Loved the bunk beds and the great table inside the yurt. Also walking distance to the pond beach was ideal.

Beautiful walking and bike trails nestled between nice towns and restaurants. Good place to camp and explore as well.

It's a site of numerous equestrian events and has several horse riding areas that can be used anytime. Besides the equines the park also has an area for dogs. It's not fenced in but the folks can bring their canines in the area behind one of the horse rings to run and play with the other canines. The park also has some beautiful wooded areas and cranberry bogs and makes a nice place for a gentle hike. It's very flat and it's actually more suited for walking than actually hiking but the area is lovely, especially in the winter or fall. Lots of birds make this their home and bird watching groups gathering here during the year to catch a glimpse of their favorite feathered friend. Washburn is a different type of park that seems to cater to critters more than to humans, even though it does have baseball and soccer fields for the bipeds to use. A pleasant and peaceful place to visit if you happen to have a dog, horse or just want to see some birds or nature.

Jenney Pond Park looks like it's in some movie from some make believe town with a Picture Perfect New England setting. This place is Fantastic for Picnics, Walks, Connecting with Nature & Wildlife & De- Stressing & Relaxing. It's just a 2 minute car ride from The Mayflower Ship & Plymouth Rock yet feels like you are hours away. It's completely hidden. The property is 13 acres large, open to the public & has 0.3 miles of public trails. We stumbled onto this hidden gem after parking here to go the Plimoth Grist Mill. After exiting the Grist Mill we walked back to the car & decided to explore. When we saw the fall foliage & picnic area & green grass that was enough to realize this is where we were going to have lunch. We went to one of the top rated restaurants in town Dillion's Local just a few minutes away & got some really good Food to go & eat here. What a beautiful setting to have lunch & see the fall foliage, The Picnic Area, the Walkway, the Pond & the Wildlife & the old wooden bridge. It looks like one of those fake Calendar Pictures but this place is real. We walked all around & saw all the White Swans, Ducks & other Birds. We were completely captivated by this one beautiful white swan that was Cleaning up the Environment & clearing away greenery in the pond - Pretty Amazing! . Now you can come here for Free & have a picnic & walk all around. Be sure to walk across the street & see the Plimoth Grist Mill with its 14 foot tall Water Wheel & Waterfall. It's Beautiful. You have to purchase a Ticket to actually go inside the Mill. But you can get up close for Free right next to the Mill & even visit their tiny gift shop which they sell locally sourced regional Cape Cod products & their own corn milled on the premises. The Grist Mill is only open on the Weekends & Holidays. If you are going to go inside the Grist Mill I recommend that you purchase a Heritage Weekend Pass to see The Grist Mill, The Mayflower Ship & The Plimoth Plantation. You'll Save some Money. Now we could not do all the things we wanted to do in Plymouth in one day so we had to come back the next day to complete our journey. No complaints - because it just gave us another reason to have lunch here again. This time we brought our own Food in a Cooler & enjoyed the picturesque Fall Setting once again. This place is great year round with different wildlife at different seasons. In the spring, herring can be seen going up the fish ladder by the Grist Mill on their way to Billington Sea to spawn. I love places like this that you completely stumble upon & end up being some of the best moments of your trip & it cost NOTHING! It used to be, you had to have Mega Bucks & be really rich to have The Good Life, not anymore. The Game has changed. You've Been Upgraded. Now You Can Live Like A King On A Limited Budget!
