We have stayed at numerous campgrounds in New England and this one has been great. The cabins are great for families. The pool is only 3ft deep which is perfect for adults to relax and they have a bench all around the perimeter. There is an ice cream stand and a food shack. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed using the golf carts to get around. I wish they would pave some of the main roads because it is very dusty and everything is covered in a layer of it. Our 13 year old boys enjoyed the weekend fishing, riding bikes, and playing basketball in the pool. Quiet hours start at 11 pm and I felt like the staff were reasonable with enforcing the rules but not being over the top.

I was not going to write a review because I truly believe in giving places a fair chance. But after speaking with the district manager I feel I need to give a warning to anyone planning their vacation here. Today is Thursday, we were at cranberry acres from last Thursday until Monday. Our stay was awesome. We did it all the campground offered and had a blast. We stayed with our friends who rented the cabin next to us. Today we discovered that the brand new paper towels I bought from Shawn's last week and kept (open) under the sink in our cabin were completely infested with what our exterminator says are weevils. The bugs poured out of the bag in a hallway downstairs, are all over the floor, in the guest room and in the bathroom. So now on top of this vacation we are now having to have an exterminator come treat our house for these bugs. We are avid "glampers" with our friends. This is something we do all summer all over New England for years now and this is the very first time we've ever experienced something like this. The manager at the campground was wonderful and apologized profusely and called the district manager to call me. This is where things went off the rails. He stated "how do we know they didn't come from Shaws?". "Well the unit has been rented and we have had no complaints ". which seeing that this is now three days later I'm sure there isn't yet. "well thank you for letting us know, we will keep an eye out.". In all fairness the resort was great, lots to do and we filled every day. The infestation from this vacation does not feel worth the experience. If you stay please keep everything sealed and wash every thing that you bring thoroughly when you get home so you do not wind up in the situation we are in.

My family stayed here for the past week and really enjoyed it! We were in the pull through spot gravel area just outside the main park, which was perfect for us. This area had excellent WiFi and is close to the dumpsters as well as the mini golf, gem mining and ice cream shop. The golf and mining leave a lot to be desired, but the ice cream shop was really cute with a lot of options! This park in general has a lot of full time/permanent residents and just recently became a jellystone and is in a transitional state. There are 2 pools (one regular and one 1-ft kiddie pool). There are lots of activities throughout the day at the activity center! The camp store is mostly a souvenir shop currently, but they informed us that they plan to expand and include more camp necessities. We loved the general area. There are cranberry farms everywhere (harvest is in October) and Plymouth and lots of major stores just a short drive. Check the website for coupons!

We have stayed every spring for the last three years at this campground and have watched the development of it. the water area in the summer is great for all ages, my daughter is scared of the water and still could stay all day there and have fun. The one down side to the water area is the hours, though it's open 8 hours a day the park gets hot with no shade. The staff is always so friendly and quickly becomes your friend, especially Amy! we love the playgrounds and jump pads. The activities are cute and well thought out but many of them you need to sign up for the morning of, and you need to get there early or they book up. Overall we love the seasonal campers here, the staff, and the grounds.

I have been a member here for years, and continue to watch the conditions deteriorate. I have notified management, and they always have the same response: "we let our cleaning company and maintenance team know about the issues" ... and then absolutely nothing happens. I haven't been able to use the steam room in weeks because the mold has gotten so bad and the stench is unbearable. There is hair, grime/dirt and refuse all over the floors, walls and benches which doesn't get cleaned up. There is an mold in the shower area ceiling, walls, and stalls/curtain which continues to grow worse every week. There are also flies in the shower area year round and they have been there for years. You can watch them crawl all over the ceiling and the stalls as you shower, and sometimes they land on you. I give Lu Brito credit for sitting down with me several months ago and acknowledging all the issues I pointed out in my previous review. He agreed that there was a big problem, and that he would be really keeping a close eye to make sure that the Men's locker room started to be cleaned again. He assured me that they would take a "proactive" approach instead of a "reactive" one. But basically, several small repairs were made to rotting or broken infrastructure, and absolutely nothing changed in terms of cleanliness. No lasting changes occurred as a result of that conversation which is why I am writing this update. I am appalled that the executive director Debbie Fringuelli continues to be passive towards these concerns and doesn't play a more active role in addressing the issues. The photos speak for themself. This is not a sanitary environment, and staff continues to gaslight by saying that "the locker room is cleaned nightly." You can literally observe the large cobwebs grow bigger over the mold which proves that is untrue. I have belonged to dozens of gyms in my life, all over the country. This is by far the most neglected facility I have ever been to. They recently raised rates (twice) and I seriously have no idea where that money is going but it is certainly not going towards cleaning or maintaining the facility. Bottom line is they need to clean up their act, and this facility. The male patrons of the Gleason YMCA deserve better.

There aren't very shallow areas for the toddlers like there are at some of the other DCR pools, such as Connors Memorial Pool in Waltham, which probably helps to keep the crowds down. It's a year later and they've done extensive updates to the pool location. 1. There's now an ADA regulation ramp with rails going into the pool for those in wheelchairs or who have trouble walking. 2. They added easier steps and hand rails for children and families to enter at the opposite end (long stairs that slope gently instead of ladder style.) 3. They have added permanent shade awnings around the pool, along with wooden benches underneath them (definitely still try to come early because those get snapped up quickly.) 4. The changing rooms are the same, but entering the locker rooms, there is now almost a rubberized "curtain" of small strips to walk through that creates privacy. Previously anyone walking by in the main corridor could see directly in. 5. The splash pad/fountain area has awnings and benches around it, and is ADA accessible. As of summer of 2023, the pool is open 7 days a week from 11:15AM-6:00PM. The changes have greatly improved the property, and it's a place where you can come and stay all day instead of roasting on hot concrete. They also have water fountains and outdoor showers along the pool deck for getting a quick drink and rinsing off.

You can get their via public transportation by taking the 80, 87, or 88 bus, or drive to the pool and park in the lot in the back. The nice thing about this pool is that it is really big and not to full either. Mostly families visit, and they have a shallow wading pool for the tiny kiddies if you have any in tow. With 5 life guards on duty, and the deep end reaching 4 ft. 8 inches, you can feel safe in just about any inch of the pool. They also have a male and female dressing room equipped with toilets, showers, and dressing cubicles, so you can change on site if you prefer. A few changes to keep in mind that we heard from some of the regulars and confirmed with a lifeguard: 1) Chairs are no longer allowed at the pool, so bring a towel and be prepared to plop yourself down on the concrete. 2) They are now charging a $2 entrance fee if you go to the pool between 11 am and 1 pm. After this peak time it is free. 3) This isn't really a change, but something to be aware of if you are visiting for the first time with lots of people. The entrance to the pool is through the dressing rooms, which means your party will be briefly separated until you are on the pool side. Happy Swimming!

Coast Guard Beach seemed great also except for the fact that we would have to park and then take a shuttle to the shore. We decided on this beach, which seems to have the same feel as Coast Guard. We got there at about 945am on a Tuesday morning in August. There were only a handful of parking spots left at The Beachcomber. Parking was $30 but we got a voucher to use toward food or souvenirs from The Beachcomber (the food and mixed drinks there were very good). The beach is accessible by a pathway on a sand dune that is tall and steep. Going down was easy. Going back up required a few rest stops for me. I'm pregnant and I was carrying our 1.5 year old. It probably would've been easier for me had I not been pregnant but this is definitely not a trek for anyone with physical limitations. My 4 year old went up and down twice but her legs were really burning the 2nd time going up. This is one of the best beaches I've ever been to. Sapphire water and soft sand. Quiet crowd and limited cell service, which added to the relaxation. The shore is a little rocky but doable without water shoes. Once you walk into the water a few feet from the shore the rocks give way to soft sand. The water was cold. I almost felt like I was taking an ice bath. But it felt great once I got acclimated and really helped me cool down in the 85 degree weather. It was a really special experience and so picturesque. One important note: there is a danger of sharks because of the booming seal population. We saw seals in the early afternoon swimming playfully about 20 feet from shore. Some locals will not get in the water if they spot seals-- that means sharks could be nearby. There were lifeguards on duty and also a shark patrol boat along the coast but it's still a little scary! The current got very strong in the early afternoon. I'm used to the crashing waves at the Atlantic beaches in NY and this undertow concerned even me.

This beach is such a peaceful spot and very relaxing. I grew up and spent most of my life on the east coast, but since moving to California, I have visited many of the notable beaches between San Diego and San Francisco. With that said, Cahoon Hollow is still one of my favorite beaches in the United States. I have generally visited Cahoon Hollow in May-June or September-October when parking is usually free and the beaches are not very crowded. I recommend trying to visit at those times. This is another GREAT beach for sitting on and spending the day OR for taking a nice long stroll. You could walk for miles. I recommend packing a lunch, snacks and beverages. There are 2 negatives to this beach: 1. Parking is pricey in the summer. 2. It's a VERY steep walk to get down to the beach. **Lecount Hollow is another equally stunning beach that is located right next to Cahoon Hollow.**
