I own a 2006 Toyota 4Runner and had the interior detailed that included using the 'drivepur' system…read moreon 01/22/14. This detail was performed at Beach Ford by their employee Dave Cobb. My girlfriend picked up the vehicle when she got off work 01/22/14 at approx 5:00-5:15 pm. She paid for the vehicle and left in order to pick up her 3 y/o from school before 5:30pm. During the drive to pick up her son, she discovered that the airbag light was illuminated. The airbag light had never been on prior to the detail being performed. Furthermore, I was in my garage and noted damage to the passenger side of front bumper cover. There was not damage to the front bumper cover prior to the 4Runner being dropped off at Beach Ford. The following week I stopped by Beach Ford to address the issues with Dave Cobb. I informed him that the airbag light was on and showed him the damage that was noted to the front bumper cover. I informed Dave that the airbag light was not on and the front bumper was not damaged prior to the detail being performed. He advised that he was unaware of what caused the airbag light to come on and that we would have to check with the Toyota dealership. Nevertheless, he would check a few things. While I was waiting on him, he brought out Beach Automotive Service Director -Frank Robinson. I expressed my desire to Mr. Robinson to have them view the security/video cameras so that we can determine what caused the damage to the front bumper. He stated that he couldn't because they could only go back 48 hours. I inquired if there was any way to get the video footage from the security company and he stated that there wasn't because the video overwrote itself after 48 hours. Frank Robinson then stated "that is why you have insurance". He went on telling me about how insurance companies fight these kind of things in courts. Little did he know that I have worked in insurance claims for almost 10 years and things like this is why THEY (Beach Automotive) have insurance. Furthermore, it was under their Care, Custody, and Control when the damage occurred. Therefore, Beach Ford/Myrtle Beach Detailing's insurance should be addressing the damage as the vehicle was under their care, control and custody. The total repair from Toyota for the airbag light was $350 and repairs to the bumper is around $275 totaling $625. PS- Dave seems like a nice guy, however, my recommendations would be to steer clear of the service director.
