I was a little nervous with it being her first visit, but the dental hygienist was very friendly and did a good job making my daughter feel comfortable! She explained each of the tools she was using and even allowed my daughter to touch all of them before she started cleaning her teeth. My daughter also liked that a tv was on the ceiling above her chair so she could continue watching a movie :) The dentist was also very friendly and explained everything to my daughter in words she would understand.

My complaint is you can never get anyone to answer a phone call at any of the locations. My son had dentist work done in the hospital and has had 2 bumps pop up above the silver cap they put on. been calling since then and no answer or call and it is going on a week. I explained to them that I didn't know she had a " copay" & so i told them to go ahead and treat her without the Xrays. They were refusing to clean my granddaughter and grandson's teeth without Xrays done first. So we spoke to the manager after i was told to leave and reschedule the appointment after i drove an hour and a half to get there. The manager okayed the services to be performed and decided to bill their parents for the copay to be paid before their next visits/ soon.the grandchildren finally got their Xrays and teeth cleaned with a floride treatment before we left.i was then asked if they were going to come back to see them again or go somewhere else?

Volunteer makes it an easier experience for both child and parent. Due to COVID, they have you call upon arrival, share your parking spot number, and wait in your car. When they are ready for you, the hygienist comes out to get you. They are currently (Feb 2022) requiring masks for those inside as well. Once inside, they weigh your kiddo (not sure why?) and bring them back to the exam room. Most X-rays and the cleaning and exam will be done in the same room. It has a child-sized dental chair and a TV mounted to the ceiling for the kids to watch Disney while their mouth is examined. The only time my son left was to get the 360 x-ray done of his mouth. The hygienist and dentist, Dr. Valerie, are great at explaining what they will be doing, patient, and have a calming demeanor that can put even the most nervous, wiggly offspring at ease. The trip to the treasure box doesn't hurt with easing the nerves, either! ;-)

So I have a significant dental phobia. I don't mean that in a "I find the experience of getting a…read morecleaning stressful" way. I mean a "Xanax the night before and morning of, heart racing, I may throw up on the way in" level phobia. S whenever I make an appointment, I know I need to plan several days ahead to be in a calm enough mindset to make it through an appointment. So when I got stuck in traffic to the point where I was almost twenty minutes late, I had no idea if they would still be able to see me and my whole "Namaste" mindset was out the window. Not only did they see me, they did backflips to make sure I was comfortable. They were fast, diligent, and overwhelming kind. I cannot thank Dr. Williams, Amy, or Theresa enough. I'm a nurse and I truly hope that I am able to show my patients the quality of care that everyone at University General Dentists have shown me.

One issue that stood out right from the beginning, was the egregious communication skills of the resident dentist. He aggressively questioned me multiple times about why it had been so long since I was there. I gave a general answer because I really didn't want to share with him my personal life story of losing my sister very unexpectedly in 2022. I didn't feel like I owed an explanation for being occupied with her only child who has severe Down's syndrome. I didn't feel the need to explain the amount of grief I have had to deal with over the past few years. I was finally focusing on my own underserved needs and felt like he was scolding me for being noncompliant. When he wasn't able to pinpoint my pain issue, his attitude spoke of unbelief. He questioned me about why I didn't come in sooner if I had so much pain. I explained that this was the first appointment I could get, and I made it 3 months ago. I waited patiently because I didn't want to go anywhere else. I had very good results in the past. I could go on with multiple other complaints about the resident dentist, but it would be several pages long. When I went to check out, I was told I had a past due bill of over $100.00 from my last visit in 2021 and had to pay it along with this visit. I explained that I never received any bills from them. I was told, they sent out 1 statement and they don't use a collection agency. At this point I wanted to get as far away from them as possible for my own mental wellbeing. So I quickly paid the bill and left. I will never go back and will encourage others to go somewhere else.
