Jewelry ranges from costume to fine, as per another review cz to diamonds. Staff were around, asked if I needed any help, but I wished they had offered more info as to whether jewelry were from local artisans, where they get their stuff, etc. Other than aesthetics, not sure how stuff was organised. However, the costume jewelry was probably in the open, more accessible dressers whereas the silver/gold jewelry, esp. with diamonds, in the cases, at the back of the store. They have really nice pieces and I wished that I had more time to pick out a ring for myself!

The materials range from cubic zirconia to real diamonds. The piece I loved the most also happened to be one of the most expensive in the store (turns out it was white gold and diamonds). But was oh so pretty - may have to treat myself next time I come back to visit.

However, this isn't one of those stores where you leave with a huge haul every single time (like Value Village or Talize). They have a smaller selection and prices are a bit higher, so I tend to be picker when selecting items to buy here. The store is fairly well laid out, and I appreciate that the clothing is color coded (Talize does this as well, but Value Village does not). I also like that the price of the item decreases the longer it's on the sales floor, which is unique. I often think of consigning here, but to be honest after reading the rules on the website, it seems like it would be a bit of a hassle. For example, it says that they don't accept items over 2 years old. How on earth can they tell (besides the item being in poor condition)? One time when I inquired about consigning, they told me about all the "cheaper" brands that they don't accept...yet every time I go in, I see those brands! It's also strange that on the website it says that Danier is one of their best selling brands, yet they say they don't accept leather coats (yes I understand Danier doesn't JUST have leather jackets, but you get where I'm coming from). Also, this might just be me, but I wish the change rooms had actual doors and not just curtains. I don't know how many times a lady has just waltzed right into my change room while I'm changing! No etiquette it seems. All in all, a few minor inconveniences, but it's a store I will continue to visit once every couple of months to see what's new.

Here is one example of many. Hock Shop Canada sells guitars that are real junk. The guitars they sell are overpriced junk full of covered damages such as cracks in the necks and bodies of the guitars, worn out guitars, warped and damaged guitars that have never been stored, maintained or looked after, lowest quality guitars made in China and the list is endless. You get the idea. When people off the street sell Hock Shop Canada their junk guitars, the guitar's defects are pointed out right away by Hock Shop Canada to them to command a rock bottom price to be paid for the guitar, the lowest garage sale type price for a parts guitar. After the junk guitar is bought for next to nothing, Hock Shop Canada gets right to work on the junk guitar to clean up and cheaply cover up the damages. Cracks in the guitar's wood can be filled in and touched up good enough to sell the guitar. Worn out frets can be polished and filed to look newer. Warped guitar necks can be adjusted to help cover up the defects. Broken electronics can be patched together to work long enough to sell the guitar, and on and on. After a guitar's damages and wear are cheaply covered up, the guitars are put on the store rack for top dollar, (with a humidifier in front of them to maintain the cheap cover up's), just under what the guitar would sell for new or what a perfect same model guitar would sell for on e bay. When the customer goes into Hock Shop Canada, they are told what great quality and value the guitars they sell are. Many customers off the street are not guitar experts. They are beginners in guitars and are looking for a first or second guitar to learn to play and practice with. Hock Shop Canada preys on these people and gives them a load of misrepresentation, telling them whatever it takes to make a sale. When the customer purchases a guitar from Hock Shop Canada, they are told they get a 30 day warranty, no cash refunds and exchange only. When the customer brings the guitar they purchased home, the cheaply covered up defects and damages soon appear. The covered up cracks in the guitar's neck and body appear due to the slightest change in humidity and temperature. The warps go back to their original state and on and on. The consumer soon realizes with the help of internet guitar sites or seeking out the advice of a guitar tech, they bought a misrepresented guitar that is only good as a wall hanging or firewood. When the consumer returns the guitar back to Hock Shop Canada, they are out of the over inflated price they paid for the junk guitar. Hock Shop Canada only gives their ripped off customers two options, Exchange for another piece of junk or given a worthless gift card that they can only get another worthless piece of junk with. The gift card has no value, because when the customer buys another junk guitar, the guitar has no resale value. The guitar can only be sold as a junk guitar or a parts guitar. If a customer paid $200.00 for a cracked guitar and if they are honest, they can only sell the guitar for what it really is, a cracked junk guitar for some parts or a wall hanging. They would be lucky to get $25.00 for it. One crooked store that sells misrepresented products, causes consumers to dislike the whole mall and never shop at the mall again.

I found a great faux fiddle leaf tree and tried it out in the space I was looking to fill in my bedroom. After trying it here and several other locations I decided I wanted to return it. I called several times last week to try and make sure I would be able to return it, as this tree is about 6' tall and is very difficult to transport. I finally left a voicemail on their machine on Sunday. They got back to me on Monday saying I would need the receipt and in 15 days of purchasing. At the time I couldn't find the receipt, but went searching and found it. My boyfriend took the first part of the morning off work to help me transport it, as we both work until 6:00pm (when the store closes). When I brought it in the sale person said we also needed an additional receipt that had some 25 digit code on it. She showed us an example of one at the cash, which was stapled to the credit receipt. My receipt had no staple marks in it, and we inquired as to why mine may have not been stapled as well- also why I was not told about this particular receipt I needed. Mine says "Amanda's House of Elegance" on it and shows the price of the item. I don't think it was fair to turn us away. I must say, I was extremely disappointed in the service. This item was almost $300.00. I am clearly a potential customer that is willing to buy high end items. I would have expected better service and more willingness from the staff to satisfy the customer. Though I prefer to shop locally, I will not be returning to this store. I can't see how this business could ever compete with stores like Homesense (which has a 30 day return policy) or Pier 1 (which has a 45 day return policy) with no hassle and additionally has much more competitive pricing.

Not like the stuff you see in the aisles at Walmart. There are gorgeous books, educational toys and lots of fairytale/fantasy items, like hobby horses on sticks. My friend's daughter loves everything princess. They had a gorgeous rabbit princess dress in her size. It had flowers and rabbit ears on the headband and even a fluffy little tail on the back of the dress. She loved it. I also got her a cute picture book about dream animals. I would have loved this place when I was little! Oh, and they had these milk straws with flavour in the straw so that when you drink the milk it gets infused with that flavour. I think the one I got for her was Unicorn...something. Can't remember exactly but I had a giggle with her mom about them. So unique! If you need a special gift for an adorable child in your life, this is the place to go. The girl working behind the counter was so nice too! We had a great conversation about how she lived on the island and took the ferry to work. I really enjoyed shopping here! I'm going back to Kingston in October and will definitely stop in to grab another present for Izabela. I wish I'd taken pictures of the items, but I forgot and though I have one of Izabela in the dress, I wouldn't post a picture of a child anywhere online these days! Just take my word for it. The staff was super friendly and helpful with questions and letting me know about receiving a free toy since we purchased a certain number of Farm Animals. Great place!
