I have had great care with Dr. Calloway, Optometrist, at Magruder Laser Vision. The staff is kind…read more The surgery by Dr. Hunter was very bad. However, it was difficult to get the information from the facility. I did receive bits and parts through my other doctors. I had the surgery two years ago by Dr. Hunter. I had cataract surgery, then they said it would be best to upgrade to a better lense and laser. I listened, medicare with my supplement paid $6,500, then I needed to get an extra loan for $6,500. I was given Dr. Hunter as my doctor, he was very personable and sings great songs while working. However, I did not receive vision greater than legally blind with glasses after the surgery. After surgery with glasses 20/200 left eye and 20/60 both eyes together, legally blind. I went to Dr. Golen, an opthalmologist in Oviedo and he said the laser was done on top of the new lense without it adhering to the cornea, so it cannot be fixed. I just got large sclera hard contacts through Dr. Straughn from Winter Park Eye Associates who is the specialist in contact lenses. It is not covered by insurance, so the cost was $2,620. With the contacts I can see 20/30 vision, which perfect vision is considered 20/20 and anything higher than 20/40 is considered legally blind. Dr. Straughn also consulted another expert opthalmologist in Gainesville on my case. The interesting thing is why was the upgraded lense chosen and why did the lense not adhere to the cornea before the added laser surgery?

Very disappointed with the service I recieved from the Patient Concierge Jennifer. I was told they "Typically " do not do this surgery and she would need to check with Doctor for approval.I would highly suggest that you tell this to people when they are making appts. and to update your paperwork you are given on your first appt.Total waste of my time and payment that was billed to my insurance co. I would highly recommend Filutowski Eye Institute!!

Wildly different experience then the reviews reflect and not even able to get someone on the phone…read morewhen needed. Was highly recommended to see Kristin Bever. Put in an appt and booked Nov 6. All online. Realize that Dr Bever isn't accepting new patients, and try to call in for another appt / clarity on who the Dr would be. Called 6 times. VM every time. Called on a Monday (they are off) and left a VM. Got a text this morning, which I've asked not to be texted. Email or phonecall. Called 4 times today, saw an appt available for 1:45 and wanted to see if it was actually available and who would be the Dr. (I've called about 6-8 times since my initial booking / referral in 2 weeks) Randomly called about 20 mins ago, got someone abrupt and rude who was more about getting me off the phone than to address my questions. Made me feel stupid that I 'didn't see the note while getting set up for the appt'. You'll be put with someone else. I ask ok... is it always this hard to get someone on the phone? I was told there are 2 people at the desk all morning, my phone is the problem (yeah, calling from 3 different devices that all didn't connect right?). And when asking about the text? "Oh that was me, its easier so I don't have to call people 'that early' in the morning. The text was received 9:38am, your business opens at 10am. What are you talking about? "Aside from all of that, do you want to book with Dr So and so or not?" I choose not, thank you. And never again. I see the majority of these reviews are nonsense - I wanted clarity on what I was booked for and the person on the other end of the phone decided she was going to wake up and said "I choose violence' apparently.

My wife seemed very happy with these guys so I gave them a try; boy o boy my expectations were exceeded. Long story short the Dr and Staff made sure I received all benefits that my insurance coverage so not Out of pocked would be minimal. Appointments were very convenient and they worked very diligently to ensure I had the correct description. These are your eyes don't skimp... Best to everyone...
