Upon arrival, we were greeted by Heather who explained the property's amenities, as well as reviewing a substantial menu with food and beverage choices for the breakfast the next morning. We stayed in the spacious Heywood Hardy Suite with a comfortable king size bed, large ensuite bathroom, a separate sitting room and a deck. The bed was very comfortable and the room was spotless. Heather and Tom serve breakfast to all of their guests at a specific time. Everything is fresh and made to order from your menu choices. Guests are seated at tables of four, and it was delightful getting to know there others staying at the inn. The property is beautiful and there is a field with a horse, sheep and other animals. Heather and Tom make you feel right at home. They're friendly, and love to talk, but they're not intrusive. We enjoyed our relaxing stay at the Red Speckled Inn. I highly recommend it.

I really liked it. The rooms are a little old but like I said before-very clean. And the beds are comfortable with nice mattresses. You do get earplugs in the room since you are over a bar and on a busy street. It actually wasn't too bad. My husband and I slept pretty peacefully. We would definitely stay here again. I think it was a bargain.

I stumbled across Hotel Ruby Marie which was more reasonably priced, and found that a friend had stayed there giving only positive reviews. The hotel is primarily a one-man show. The same gentleman had answered the phone, checked us in, was vacuuming the rooms, and seemed to have put together the continental breakfast. He was very nice, as I had accidentally booked the wrong Thursday. He was very polite and allowed me to rebook without charging the no-show fee. Also, I found that they seem to offer a discount to customers who call. The hotel is located a short distance from the capital building, right by the Lake Monona running path. It shares its parking lot with a couple bars and restaurants. The stay comes with fee parking, welcome cocktails at Up North Tavern, and a small breakfast. It is really a beautiful, old hotel with antique furnishings and small touches that make you feel at home, such as candy and bottled water in the room. The location has a lot to offer, as many businesses are walking distance or a short drive. The cocktails at Up North were great. Though the breakfast was nothing fancy, it was fresh and hot and served in an attractive dining room. I think the main issue with the location is that if you have a first floor room (we did not) you are likely to be bothered from the noise in the bar. Also, it is near the train tracks. A long train passed by in the early morning hours and woke me up. I should also mention that our lake-view room did indeed have a lake view, but it was really more of a partial lake-view. All in all, we enjoyed our short stay at Hotel Ruby Marie. It was unique and had a historic feel. I would definitely return.

They have thought of EVERYTHING down to the last detail, even having your name on a list with the State Police to allow you access to the parking lot. We were in the Varsity Suite over the weekend and it was truly like coming home. But to a home with a jacuzzi tub and four-headed shower. We enjoyed some beautiful back country roads coming and going and it was well worth the 35-minute drive to spend the night in a place of comfort and peace. Springdale Inn has a welcoming and helpful host. The room and the bed were comfortable with wonderful linens. The bathroom was beautifully clean and modern also with luxurious towels. The inn is a story in green design which the owner can describe in fine detail for those who may want to replicate. Morning was leisurely with a wonderful breakfast on the deck overlooking native prairie. Birds and butterflies were a joy to behold. We enjoyed conversation with two other couples while being served by the host and an assistant. The food featuring fresh fruit, yogurt with local honey, crisp bacon, and crepes topped with Door County cherries was delicious. Plenty of great coffee was also appreciated. This country Inn is a delight for anyone who enjoys nature and clean on comfortable accommodations.

Which is so important. Two slight problems that may be specific to the room we were staying in. The padlock on the door was pretty touchy. It took us at least three tries to get into our room each time. I would've much preferred a card key. The second problem we had was the volume on our TV. It didn't work properly. It was very loud, but you could not turn it down, nor could you turn it up. We're pretty tech savvy and we could not figure out how to solve this problem. And since there's no one on site, although the ladies were very good at getting back to us quickly, I didn't feel like walking into an empty lobby at night to try to grab a remote. That was the solution. That being said, it was a lovely stay. And the two women who run the motel are very responsive if you have a problem.

SleJust as nice, had everything we needed. They even moved over the items we forgot in the first fridge. Every room has a bench to sit outside and enjoy the country air. They also have a nice sitting area outside if you have a group who wants to gather. It's right on the edge of downtown so walking to the main streets is easy and you can even walk the sugar river trail which goes by right in front of the place. It also has a drive thru coffee stand being built which looks really nice. As a whole, very nice for an updated motor lodge. It's kind of nice to stay at places like this instead of the corporate places. It is a slight bit pricey but worth it for the service and experience!

They have free breakfast from 7am-11am, standard eggs, waffle, yogurt, cereal and coffee stations. Nice to see fresh spinach and cheese by the eggs.

Other than an occasional loud walker in another room I didn't hear anything when I was in my room. I'll be frequenting this area for work, so I'll look forward to staying here again.
