I had a lot of great experiences here and made good friends, but a few bad experience with one particular coach I found rude and disrespectful. It just depends on what you are looking for in a gym. Really think what you want in and out of a gym, test a bunch out, and then decide. Don't just sign up at the first place you see. It's like purchasing a car. Feel it out.

Head coach Ighor is an absolute gem to the sport. He is owner and operator and has many years under his belt and know him through my academy up in Portland. I've never heard bad things about him or his JiuJitsu. He has mounds of experience and more time and years on the mat than most people in this area. The kids program is absolutely already kicking off and is the place to be if you want to enrich your kids value in the sport . Now there's also plenty of room for hobbies and people looking to just have fun and if that turns into something more, this is a place you'll wanna be. Unfortunately, I am about 45 minutes from it so I'm only able to visit on occasion to come to an open Mat and roll around with some new people. Everyone was super nice and welcoming. Everything is absolutely clean and meticulously taken care of. If you know anything about Jiujitsu or wrestling, you'll know that cleanliness is almost tied with expertise and knowledge in criteria when looking for a spot. It might be a new name, but it's not a new person and if you look into him, you'll see that his associations are with many well-known associations and branching out into something new to bring new blood and new life to a very traditional sport. My child trained for around four years and earned a Blue belt. OKS helped my child build their confidence physically and socially. They trained mainly in the Tigard dojo and Hillsboro dojo and visited several other locations for training events. However in the long run, I found the OKS does have issues. There's a certain arrogance and dismissive attitude that led to my child being left behind. There's also some disorganization in tracking each child's progress. My child was left behind on advancement for 18 months, after I repeatedly discussed the issue with multiple instructors. My child became so demoralized they lost heart for training so I pulled them out of the program at their own request. OKS could be great, but it needs to do better and address whatever internal training culture and organizational issues that led to this situation. They did long-term damage to my child's interest in Aikido, in martial arts, and possibly in organized sports. They lost my child's trust and my trust.
