I went to the walkers point location with my coworkers as a group outing/team bonding. I made the appointment over the phone and had requested nail art. When we got there immediately checking in at the front desk my nail tech asked what nail art I was thinking. I showed her some inspo (obvi I never expect the exact thing I just said something like it and it was a flower lol) she got super weird and began talking with one of the receptionists. It felt SO WEIRD. Anyways they basically tell me they can't do that which whatever but it just felt like so awkward that they were whispering about me right in front of me. The other receptionist did help me find the colors I was looking for and she was honestly the only good thing about our entire time there. The whole vibe in this place feels like a "you can't sit with us" or when your in high school and everyone at the party was invited to sleepover but you were only invited to the sleep under. I could go on... but all I'm saying is the employees should probably be nicer otherwise if you're a customer probably only come here if you're a regular or you will feel SO out of place. read more

I was introduced to Nail Bar via a Yelp event years ago, and I'd been going to the Downer Ave location until this Walkers Point location opened, which is easier for me to get to. I used to have a regular nail tech, but she left. I haven't had any problems with any techs assigned to me. Some are a little more thorough than others, but I've been happy with the service I get here, and I occassionally see other men at this location, too. The place is kept very clean! When I'm at a pedicure station, I notice staff thoroughly cleaning other stations immediately after use. Hand and feet maintenance is an important part of personal grooming, and I like to ask for their tips and advice for maintaining the work they do for me, so it's a good idea to get assistance from these pros whenever possible! read more

This was by far the worst experience I've ever had at a nail salon. I thought 3 stars was a suspiciously low rating, but decided to give them a chance since based on the marketing and prices I thought nail bar would be a bit more skilled and knowledgeable. I was completely mistaken. I've never had an experience like this while getting my nails done. I just found the entire set up odd and counter intuitive. Another reviewer compared it to an "assembly line" and I think that perfectly encapsulates the vibe of this place. I booked a no chip mani and pedi with French tips and added a comment that said I wasn't sure if the look I had in mind would best be achieved by artificial nails or just a no chip mani, and I had a picture to show (a French manicure that was just a bit more subtle and soft than the typical French manicure). My appointment was at 3:30 and I had gel polish on which takes extra time to remove. The same nail tech was booked to do my nails and also had another appointment at 4:30. 1 hour would not have been enough for a non rushed french manicure and pedicure with or without the gel removals. Then the tech didn't even know that she was doing my nails as well, after she completed my pedicure I asked if she was doing my nails and she had to yell and ask the receptionist who told her yes. If she knew she was doing my nails, she could have started the manicure removal during my pedicure which is pretty typical and would have saved time. They had to call the 4:30 appointment and move it back an hour at this point. She was pretty rough when removing the gel polish and it felt as if she was filing my nail plate too hard and burning it. I've been getting my nails done for over 10 years and this was the first time I've ever felt this burning sensation. She was apologetic when I said it burned but even so it was careless and unprofessional. I had 2 recently broken nails and the tech was literally going to leave me with 2 stubs not matching the other nails because of "time." I booked a French manicure and was getting an oval shape, so imagine how that would have looked? It is honestly unheard of to me that someone would do an incomplete service like this, and very in line with the "assembly line" approach. She ended up doing the 2 repair nails begrudgingly. I should have booked the gel removals and see now that it is part of their booking system. Even so, 1 hr would not have been enough time for the services I booked and this could have been handled more professionally. It seems like they are over booking and asking for issues with this system. I would rather the 3:30 time not have been available so I could have booked elsewhere or at another time, rather than get rushed, low quality service and be treated how I was. If it were not for the very important event I had the next day where lots of pictures would be taken, I would not have finished this appointment. From the beginning I got the impression from the nail tech that she didn't really want to be there and that she was doing me a "favor" by doing my nails, not that it was a service I was paying for. I went to Nail Bar Milwaukee as a part of my sister's bridal party to get our nails done before her wedding. I got Gel X. I'm impressed by how long they've stayed on given how much activity I've been up to and how much I use my hands. Nail Bar offers Gel X instead of acrylic, which is better for your nails and lasts longer. It's also more expensive, but to me it's worth it especially if it's for a specific event and you need to absolutely make sure they stay on. They have a good variety of colors, although the first one I picked I was told I couldn't use because it wasn't specifically for Gel X. The one issue I noticed was that one girl in the bridal party wanted French tips. The artist told her, "I don't do French tips." This is one of the most basic, original nail designs you could get. I wish I could give 3.5 stars because it was so surprising to go to a nail place that can't do French tips. Additionally, my sister originally wanted ombré nails, but was told they didn't do that, so she got a different design instead (that ended up looking really nice). If you know you want a specific design make sure to call ahead and ask if they do it, because the ones that they do know how to do turn out really nice. The room was clean and well lit with cute decor. They had plenty of chairs and were well staffed so even though our party was 9 people, I noticed there were a couple walk ins that they were able to take immediately. When we all got in they had reserved chairs for each of us and assigned us to specific artists. It was a good attempt at organization but a few of the artists did have us change seats to where they had already set up. No biggie. Unfortunately the glitter color I chose did not have enough product in the bottle to do enough layers on all my fingers, so the artist picked a similar solid color to put underneath the glitter which ended up looking really good. Called them to check about those charges and the receptionist hang up the phone on me!!!! So I reached out the owner Tyan Soo and guess what? After a hard conversation with her blaming me she don't want to cancel those transactions because I left her a review to warren other people from her salon behavior. Terrible experience, I have been a regular at downer street salon several years. My nail person is on several month maternity leave. Downer location does not have other people that can do my service. I wanted to get the vibe from the walkers point location to see if I could meet someone that did my nails service. There is a park lot marked private but I saw several women that just got their nails done leave from the lot. I parked and went inside but saw nobody. The steep staircase is not easy for my bad knees. I tried going in again 30 minutes later, sat on the stairs trying to work my way in. A woman that was angry told me to leave and that they would have my car towed. She seemed hostile and I felt she was angry at me for being a trans female. I was upset and left, being told to leave hurt. Three years of great treatment at the downer street location , I went there as a good customer for years, and getting threatened was horrible. No parking, no handicap places, steep stairs, and angry aggressive staff, plus I felt that being a trans female was not welcome. The oppisite treatment from downer ave. The downer street nail bar is fantistic, the florida street, walkers point location was unwelcoming and angry and anti lgtbq , when you attack customers , say get out, and we will tow your car, leave now. It was a record time pedicure..I have never felt so rushed through a no chip pedicure and the technician was not very skilled. They don't use e-file here so she filed my skin while trying to file down the old gel pedicure I had. Quality doesn't look great but we'll see how long this last, not expecting much. I've been cut multiple times and have sat there for 3 hours getting a gel manicure that should have taken half the time. I don't want to single any nail techs out, I more blame the management as they clearly hire under trained staff. it feels discombobulated as soon as you walk in, and i will not be returning. such a shame, it has potential. for what they're charging, the services should be impeccable. if you can't paint a clean gel pedicure, it shouldn't cost $60. my toes nails are all crooked and painted so poorly. read more

Went for a no-chip mani that I scheduled online on their app. I booked with a specific nail tech after looking at pictures on their Instagram but I was placed with another nail tech. I was super anxious already but everyone was super friendly. The place is bright, clean and relaxing. My nail tech did a good job at making me comfortable and chatting to pass the time. She took her time with everything and answered all my questions. I had several questions about some of their other services so I could plan for my next visit. I've now been regularly going here for a couple months for artificial gel fills, and I could not recommend this place more! While it is just a tad more expensive than typical nail salons I've gone to, the price is SO worth the quality that you get and the vibes of the place! It is extremely clean and sanitary, and every nail tech that I've had has been so diligent and continuously asks me how I like what they are doing. The place is so cute and relaxing with the best music playlist playing! There is street parking but I've never had a problem finding a spot. I've been to the Nail Bar on Downer lots of times and never had a bad experience, however I've been to this location twice now and both were bad. This 2nd time was exceptionally awful though. First I was set up with cold water to soak in for a pedicure while I waited for my tech and no one would acknowledge me or tell me my tech was running late so I had to flag someone down to ask for some warmer water (that girl was very nice once I got her attention). When my tech finally came over almost 10 minutes late she said "hey." and instantly started texting on her phone and then she walked away abruptly to talk to the front desk. When she came back she started complaining that they booked her previous customer for an add on and she has plans after this, etc. which felt very unprofessional. I'm not sure why I only have bad experiences with nail salons but, I actually feel like I need to warn others about this place. It took me a few weeks to write this review but better late than never. I arrived for a mani/pedi and when I sat down on the pedicure bench (lol) the lady doing my pedicure seemed nice enough. When she started my pedicure (after me waiting for about 10 minutes sitting on the "pedicure bench", she was using a nail buff LITERALLY ON MY TOE'S SKIN! Like it wasn't even buffing the nail, she was missing the nail completely. I let it slide because maybe she was new? Bad choice-- She cut my skin about 6 different times while trimming my cuticles. One was so deep that I actually asked her to stop with the service (about 4 minutes into the appointment) because this seems super unsanitary and a potential cause for a skin infection. My toe was bleeding heavy and I it was so painful. Not to mention all those germs floating around in that water and with 4 open wound cuts at this point, i said no thanks and if we could please stop. I told the receptionist I'd pay for the service thus far and she said to not worry about it. She asked what happened, I started to explain, and my pedicure lady starts shouting and gas lighting me and telling me I had too much cuticle so "of course she cut me multiple times". Like....just let me leave lol. Anyway I went to Nail Craft less than a block away and they gave me one of the best manicures/pedicures I've EVER had! That's my new spot. Anyway. This is not the place to go if you care about racial inclusion and acceptance. This was my family and I's first experience with the Nail Bar, and as soon as my father, who is Black, walked in the door there was a clear energy change. We made reservations for a service days prior, but my fathers nail technician was the only one who was running late. This is not a coincidence, as this has happened many times before where my father is singled out and excluded from services we are paying for. This is not by coincidence because me and my mother are both white, but it just so happened that my fathers nail technician was running late meaning he would have to wait to the side while his family started their service. Nobody tried to rectify the situation or find a solution. When we left, we received a message from the manager of the Nail Bar justifying the incident by explaining that their business couldn't possibly be racist because they hire 90% minorities. If this was truly a concern of the business, we wouldn't receive a message that invalidates our experience but rather apologizes and tries the solve their ignorance problems within the business. read more
