I would give 0 stars if I could. My mom and I came in for pedicures. At no point were we asked about which type of pedicure, I was doing gel color and was told when I say I would be given color choices and that did not happen. They ignored me for about 20 minutes, it wasn't until I started to put my socks and shoes back on that they started to pay any attention to me. The lady doing my mom's feet did not allow her feet to soak in the water for any longer than 30 seconds at most. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Absolutely not. Never again. This was my first time coming to this place, due to time constraints, and they were the only ones open. They were busy, and I paid for a deluxe pedicure, and got a normal manicure on my natural nails. I always do my nails myself, ALWAYS, because nowhere does them like they are supposed too anymore, but today, it was gonna be a busy weekend, so I thought "Why not?" Big mistake. Let's start with the basics. I came in, right when they opened, and several people walked in after me. Fine. So.... This deluxe pedicure I paid for? My water was like warm, at best, and she kept leaving to take care of other people/walk in, letting my water get colder and colder. After about 20 minutes of this, I started to get pretty angry. I mean, my water was almost cold at this point. The scrub the used was fine, but she barely massaged my legs, slathered me with so much lotion it was dripping off my legs, and then left again, for some man to come put the warm towels on me. These towels weren't warm, they were scalding hot. (This is coming from someone who takes hot as crap showers, so for these towels to burn me, is saying something). I jumped because they were so hot Someone else then came to finish massaging me. I use that term loosely. Time for my manicure now, since apparently they are done. First, I have pretty long natural nails, and I keep up with them. To the point where, nightly I use cuticle oil, and file and shape them once a week. Sometimes twice. My hands were put in a very small bowl of lukewarm water, so solution.... For maybe one minute. She took them out, shaped with a file made for acrylics, ON MY NATURAL NAILS, ended up making them jagged, and crooked. Got up three times just for this process to help out other walk ins.... While she was gone, I picked another file, and started filing them myself!!!!! I made them even. She didn't cut my cuticles, only went around with some lotion and made them jagged and gross looking. Then painted them so sloppily, it looked like a 10 year old did it. My top coat was so thick and gooey, that even when it dried, it looked like someone touched all 10 of my nails. I'll be uploading pictures when I figure out how. This is absolutely absurd. I'm so pissed. I'm going to Sally's now to buy this color, take this one off, and then redo them my damn self. read more

Bad nail care & full of attitude! I've given plenty of chances & I've had to return 3 different times for polish and to fix my nails. UPDATE ... The owner contacted me through this review and on my Facebook. Accusing me of coming in to change the color. Obviously in the pictures it's the same color. When I returned to have them fix the polish the nail tech attempted to put a purple polish on. I told her that that was the wrong color and that I never wear purple. Then I said let me just go find the pink color and she told me that I was changing the color and that they were going to charge me. They were rude and disgusting and for the owner to continuously contact me through Yelp and my Facebook is inappropriate. So if you want shitty service bad attitudes and if you don't get the special pedicure they are going to treat you like crap and do a shitty job on your polish. The nail tech that did my pedicure cut me three different times on three different toes and made me bleed & really hurt my toes so much that I had to pull my feet away from her. read more

I used to come here to get my acrylics done about once a month. The staff is not at all friendly, even rude. Everything is an inconvenience, no matter the service. I would be able to deal with this behavior if the end result was at least good, but I always left with thick, uneven, sloppy nails. I only stayed because of the "value", as it was cheaper than some other nearby salons, but the quality proved the reason. I once came by the following day when the polish had bubbled through and was absolutely unacceptable, when I was greeted by the staff yelling at me and blaming me for their poor service. I just wouldn't come here honestly. My manicure turned out okay at best but only after the guy fixed it and rubbed my cuticles raw with the buffer to the point where one of them was bleeding. When I first sat down he filed my nails then started painting them. I asked him "aren't you going to do my cuticles...?" And he just said no and kept painting. Gnats flying around the place, the man doing my nails kept coughing and sneezing. And to top it off the man used the nail file on himself in the middle of my manicure and then used it on me again!! I've had my nails done here before, and they have looked as the photo I showed him. All I got was a "sorry." My best friend had an appointment for a manicure, and the manicurist argued with her, filed her nails so much they bled, didn't soak or trim her cuticles, and yelled at her in the middle of the street. The manicurist was unprofessional and argued that her poor performance was due to my friend's cuticles being "too dry" and that she overfiled because my friend's "finger is crooked." Manicurists should not blame their clients for their inability to perform their job adequately. Nail Center does not seek client satisfaction. Rather, Nail Center inflicts physical pain on its clients, and then blames clients for their pain. After my friend, who identifies as a racial minority, complained about her pain, Nail Center threatened to call 911. Such a threat is not only completely disproportionate, but, in light of recent events, demonstrates a blatant disregard for human life. read more

I took my Mother with me on a Saturday, and they were very busy! Not only did they get us in right away they were so sweet! The owner oversees everything, and everybody! To me that is a good businesswoman! They told me about doing the dip on my nails, and I'm glad I did! They look great. I've been here 3x because I was new to town just moved to Roanoke in August and the first time I was so put off because the lady kept slapping my hand down saying it was stiff... never had any problems before and 2nd time they rushed me out the door, 3rd time 2 different ladies did my nails I noticed they forgot steps and 3 of them got into an argument. I can't understand the language but I for sure understand Tone of voice. They squirted lotion in my hand on my way out the door. I've been trying out other places as well and I went to another place and the guy doing my nails asked me where did I get them done because he could tell it was shotty work but I also had a fungus on 2 of my nails that I didn't have before. When I left the shop I actually really liked my nails and I haven't been able to find a place to give me that LOVE feeling and once she was done with mine that's how I felt. I've received messages telling me "don't leave reviews like that", "take that out", "don't write something on my page like that." Had I known leaving a review would have led to me getting bombarded by the salon to delete my review, I would've saved myself the trouble. Three people who are very important to me were treated completely unfairly and with utter disrespect when they visited this salon. They were openly being disrespectful and talking about these customers. Their racist customers chimed in instead of trying to help the family. Their nails were not done to their liking and the manicures caused physical pain; after trying to get the nails fixed the workers started yelling at them instead of trying to accommodate their wants. They also threatened to call 911. In this day and age, to threaten to call the police on a polite minority family reflects very poorly on a business that claims to provide respectful customer service. read more

My family went here today and after completely disregarding the shape and colors we wanted and filing down to the point where it caused PAIN, the techs began arguing with us and yelling in front of the entire store. racist customers chimed in even after seeing the utter unprofessionalism and mistreatment we endured at the hands of the techs AND their manager. they continued yelling and hurling insults and chased us out of the store threatening to call 911 on our minority family, after we tried to reason with them. additionally my nails are lopsided and there is polish on my cuticles. my nail tech said "go somewhere else then" when i asked her to please fix them. they openly were talking shit about our family in the middle of the store. the dark skinned woman kept saying to call the cops. the middle aged asian woman, after we paid for the awful nail work, said "we really hope you don't come back." spend your money somewhere where customers are respected and nail techs accept their mistakes professionally. do not support this ridiculous, poorly managed establishment. read more

i don't want to sound dramatic but if i could give this place zero stars i would. before i went here i read the yelp reviews and i saw all the bad ones but i thought that there's no way a nail salon can treat their customers that bad, but i stand corrected. if u choose to believe this review or not that's fine but i just wanted to let ppl know abt the terrible experience i had. i wanted to mention that this is the first nail salon i've been to in Roanoke since i've moved here. i had an appointment for 1:30pm and they didn't start looking for the color i wanted until around 1:54pm and they didn't get started until about 2:00pm. which now that i think abt it, they didn't ask for my name when i made the appointment so i honestly feel that if u do decide to go, it doesn't matter if u make an appointment or not bc u might have to wait anyway. i told her i wanted acrylics and she kept insisting i get sns powder so i decided to trust the process bc these ppl r professionals so i should be able to trust that these ppl know what's best. which maybe the sns powder would've worked on someone else but i def wasn't that person lol. once we got started i showed her a picture of what i wanted which was a regular french tip with a ballerina shape and she insisted on a coffin shape so that's what we did but let me tell u, that's not how it ended up happening. i asked her if she was gonna cut my cuticles bc she just went straight in w the drill and did no prep and she said yeah sure but like three mins later she said that it'll be 10$ extra and idk if that's just my fault for not knowing already but all the places i've been to before do all the prep for the nails included in the price (esp. since these nails were gonna be 60$ plus tip) but maybe that's just the places i've lived in (maryland, dc, florida, california, and japan). writing this review is tiring so i'm just going to wrap this up but i wanted to mention that after going to this nail salon and being forced to take the sns powder and the glue on nail tips myself and then crying in my car after i left bc she got mad at me for asking her to drill the powder off after i decided not to continue w the nails bc i'm "too picky" and i "can't make up my mind" and i have "small nails", but in the end i'm not going to pay 60$ for nails i don't like + 10$ for cuticle removal and a tip. i have a job so i don't want to seem like i'm being cheap for not getting the nails but i just wasn't happy with the attitude she was giving me for asking to have my nails a certain way. anyway, take what u will from this review but trust me when i say i've never experienced customer service like this before (esp. in a nail salon) and i work in the customer service industry so ik what it's like. read more

While not the fanciest place I have ever been, the folks here were so kind and friendly. I took my sister here for her first mani-pedi before her wedding, and it was a great experience. The one down side is I didn't feel they were super on top of the nail art; our fingers looked ok, but nothing at all like the (simple) pictures. That said, everything was super clean, the chairs were really comfy, my gel nails haven't chipped, they offered us water bottles, my feet are still smooth, and we had a really wonderful time. Went to get a pedicure, wasted $25 on something I could have done better myself. Put some kind of oil on my legs that was never washed off. Didn't shape or cut my toe nails. Honestly will never be going back again. Never offered the different type of pedicures just started doing something. Must have been their basic pedicure, which is far below basic, it consisted of cutting my cuticles, rubbing some oil on my leg, and painting my nails. I want to start off by saying this nail salon provides quick service. However, horrible service. First of all, I said I wanted SNS, the dip powder, and usually I don't have to tell my nail tech what to do, but the lady had no idea what she was doing. She told me countless times my nails were hard to do, which I have never been told before. Not to mention every time she would move on to another nail she would hit my nails against her one LONG nail on her finger, thus, ruining my nails. She blamed me. It doesn't stop there, my nails are thick and look as though I have piled playdough atop my nails, AND one has a huge bump on it that she wouldn't file down. Do not go here. read more

I went in to get a manicure and pedicure, pedicure was okay; she didn't ask if the water temperature was okay and it was burning my feet and every time I took them out of the water they were bright red, she asked if I wanted them to get the dry skin off my feet and didn't bother to tell me it was a $5 extra charge when anywhere else I've gone I've never been charged. The manicure, I don't even know where to start. I got dip powder and picked a light pastel blue off of the color wheel they had and when they put it on it was this dark blue color and I said something about it and she said "no same color." So I thought maybe it would dry lighter once they put the top coat on... clearly it didn't. I asked for two white butterfly designs on my ring finger and her response was "ummm no" then the other lady working said she could do it... they poured butterfly sparkles on my ring finger. Every single nail looks like the paint is smothered on my nail and is not smooth at all. The tops are ridged and lumpy. In the pictures you can see all the dry skin around my nails that they didn't even bother to touch and where she made me bleed twice with the grinding tool. I got charged $75 in total and I'm not even close to happy with any of it. It's not worth going back to get them to fix it because they would probably make it look just as bad. We showed up 50 mins before they closed and they were very welcoming. From the moment we walked in they were friendly and very professional. My sister got a regular mani and pedi I got a gel one. They did a great job on both of us!! They also did a great job on my eyebrows!! They offer us complementary beverages while we were getting worked on. Although they close at 7 pm they had two ladies show up at 7:15 pm and they did not turn them away they did their pedicures!! The experience was great and I would definitely recommend this place to my family and whenever I'm in town I will definitely be back here!!! Thank you ladies!! I need a nail salon that is open on Sunday. After checking out the reviews on Yelp, I decided to try Nail Center. They are conveniently located on 419 and there is ample parking. When I arrived, I was greeted very nicely. There are 5 or 6 pedicure chairs and they are the good ones that give you a really good massage (BONUS!). The woman who performed my pedicure was very good. She actually kept checking the soles of my feet to be sure there were no rough spots. And she kept scraping until there were none. They use the cheese graters, no razors, and I was fine with that. When she used the pumice stone, she did the same thing...kept making sure she was removing all the rough stuff. WONDERFUL!! She also did something I've never had done by any salon-she used the sander to smooth out my too thick toenails. My pedicure looks and feels great. The owner did my nails. I decided to try gels versus acrylic. I love the fact that it's a faster process. She was very swift and thorough and my nails look nice. My only wish is that they didn't look quite as thick as they do. I'm not sure if that's characteristic of gels versus acrylics, but I will inquire about that when I return in a few weeks. I believe this is my new go-to place. Oh, and she did my eyebrows too. So, new gels, pedicure and eyebrows totaled $60. Not bad. read more
