It's two days later and unfortunately upon closer examination of my nails I noticed the edges were not actually sealed so my index finger has already chipped. Also, a lot of dry cuticles and skin wasn't trimmed away nor was the shellac applied close enough to the base. For the price I paid (around 75 dollars) for shellac mani and pedi, I really expected more. We are flying out next week and I am quite busy and don't think I will be able to go back in to fix it. I'm a bit bummed but it's not the end of the world. If I go back again I will update my review as it does seem everyone else has had better experiences so it's probably a one off. UPDATE: The owner Monique reached out and was actually able to squeeze me in on short notice to have my nails fixed. I met the salon co-owner Brady at the desk and he was extremely nice and apologetic and wanted to understand how to better improve my experience. I was lucky enough to have Tammy aka nail sorcerer to do my nails today and she completely redid my set of nails. She totally won me over with her friendly and sweet personality and was extremely meticulous with my manicure...every issue I had before had been rectified (dry cuticles, unsealed edges, polish not being applied close enough to the cuticle). I left extremely happy and gave a nice well deserved tip. I would recommend this nail salon. I went here last week and got a shellac mani pedi. Tammy hooked a girl up with some fresh nails. The vibe in the salon is so awesome. Felt like the people working there really love what they do and overall give a family/welcoming vibe. This salon isn't far for me and I've been looking for a spot like this that isn't all the way downtown. I will definitely be back. I am so happy this place opened up! Earlier this week I had a nightmare experience at a different nail salon and I was in need of a salon to fix my messed up nails. This morning I called "nail fix in the six" to see if they could fix my nails and they did the most amazing job! When I called the salon MJ answered and she was so nice and informative. She was very professional and booked me an apt. When I arrived at the salon everyone greeted me and all the staff are so nice and welcoming. I came here 2 weeks ago and I got shellac manicure and shellac pedicure and at first I loved everything, after 5 days my nails were peeling already so I decided to contact them and let them know I came back a week ago to get them fixed, they told me they we're only going to fix the ones that were chipped so I decided to ask if I could just change the colour of my nails and that if I needed to pay that would be okay with me, at the end they agreed to change the colour and they charged me $22 for it. It's been a week since I got them fixed and my nails are chipped again. (Have in mind that shellac it's supposed to last 2 weeks) I definitely won't be coming back. read more

My husband and I love a good mani pedi. We have been to many establishments, but none quite like Nail Fix in the 6ix. This place is modern, upbeat, clean, and friendly. The owner, MJ, is very sweet, funny, personable and thoughtful. She pays attention to detail and makes sure you're happy. Accidents happen and my big toe got smudged. She felt so bad but again...accidents happen. I was sitting at the manicure station and she had me prop my foot on her thigh to repaint it. I felt bad for her bc she was hunched over with my foot on her thigh. ***sidenote and TIP: if you get a paraffin treatment on your hands (you NEED to do it bc idk about you, but TO winters have my hands dry AF!), you get a shoulder massage!!! I love massages and MJ has a good set of hands that give a firm shoulder massage, which i like. While getting my paraffin treatment, MJ gave me a shoulder massage after the first coat. Once done with the shoulders...she put a second coat...AND GAVE ME A SECOND MASSAGE and said..."well why not?" Ahahh You can see why I am giving 5 stars...MJ went above and beyond. This is a beautiful small modern nail salon in Scarborough. They are so nice and welcoming. Great atmosphere. It is easy to locate and parking is just around the corner. They were able to book me in last minute and I only had to wait about 5-10 minutes before I was seated. The receptionist was very helpful and informative. Very clean and everything was super organized. The service itself was mediocre. I had to tell the lady to clean my cuticles and remove the dead skin. I had to grab the tool myself and show her where the skin was bothering me. She was very good at listening and tried her best to make sure I was satisfied. I went to the salon twice only. The first time I went I had an appointment with Chelsea she did an excellent job unfortunately within two days my nail polish chipped when I called to make an appointment to come in they had no problem seeing me again I went in they fixed it and then a day later chipped again I went back into see Chelsea and she fixed it once more. My second appointment I call the salon I spoke to Tammy, Chelsea was on vacation so I could not make my appointment online. The day of my appointment I arrived and did not have me booked in for the service that I wanted. They did end up doing my nails but Tammy did them not Chelsea. Two days later my nails chipped again and I called to have them re-done but when I spoke to the gentleman on the phone he made me feel very uncomfortable about coming in stating that he had to pay his nail techs and coming in over and over for nail repair was not cost-effective. I felt so uncomfortable that I decided not to go back there anymore, I felt uncomfortable with being there even when they got my appointment wrong I felt they thought it was my fault. It really is a shame because Chelsea did such an excellent job on my nails and if I wasn't made to feel so uncomfortable I probably would've gone back. I'm a professional and I feel that when I pay for something that it should last for more than two days and I don't mind the prices although this place is quite expensive I felt that a good job would be worth it. read more

Pros Modern shop with amazing decor Extremely clean Staff is highly skilled and friendly A wide range of nail colours and accents Location is convenient and easy to access Offers the spa "experience" during appointments Cons Based on my experience, I could only think of one. It's the prices!!! I've been getting my nails done for years and was shocked at some of the charges. For example, "nail maintenance". The charge breakdown as the following $45 to fill an additional $10 to remove shellac. Based on locations I've visited, this was included as part of the service. All togther with taxes is approximately $63. Yikes! I'm not saying this place isn't worth the visit. I would inquire before they proceed or you might end up paying upwards of $70+. read more

Came in for shellac application on my natural nails about a week ago and service was amazing, I had no complaints. Only thing I had an issue with was the small selection of shellac colours. Exactly 3 days after my appointment, one of my nails chipped on the tip of the nail. I had ignored it until later that night, I noticed that the entire nail polish was beginning to peel off just like a sticker. I returned to the nail place the next day and they were happy to re-paint the same nail for free. All was well again until later that night, I noticed another nail beginning to chip at the tip. On top of that, a third nail had already begun to peel off at the base of my nail, just like a sticker once again. At this point, it had only been 4 days since I had my shellac manicure and already more than one nail has begun to peel. The next day I notice another chip on the tip of another nail. In less than a week, my nails have progressed to look as though I had gotten them done more than 2 weeks ago. For the $25 I paid to get this manicure, I could have just gone to any other salon and gotten them done. I have been a fan of Shellac nails for years and have never experienced this kind of issue. They've always lasted me 2-3 weeks until I had to get them removed, but only because they were growing out, never because they had peeled and chipped. My nails just looked so ugly and chipped at this point that I had decided to take them off on my own and with no surprise they all came off so easily as if I was peeling stickers off my fingers. The chipping at the tips of my nails are definitely due to the fact that they did not seal the ends, which makes no sense considering my nails were beyond long enough to do so. As for the peeling, I have no idea how this could have happened to not just one nail, but all my nails. I don't do much rigorous work with my hands. In fact, I take very good care of them. Considering that they also only use CND brand shellac polish, you would think that this manicure would outstand my previous shellac manicures, but to my dismay this was my worst experience with them. I'm led to believe that the problems with my nails may have been due to application technique done by the nail techs at this place. My nails weren't buffed before application or sealed after, which I believe is the reason for the issues with the longevity of my shellac manicure. The service is amazing and the workers are such a pleasure to talk to, it's just such a shame that their performance did not live up to my expectations. read more

This was the very first nail appointment I ever had in my life and I was very excited to learn that a salon was in the area and I didn't have to travel very far to get there. I was excited about the nails I have gotten, not really caring about the details, and went on with my day. But after I got home and started to really inspect my nails, I noticed there were a lot of things that were off and became quite disappointed with them. Pros When I entered, the people were very nice and welcoming. The salon looked very clean and it was a nice calm atmosphere. You got to keep the nail file and buffer they used on you. The technicians seemed friendly enough to hold a convo with you. Cons I would not recommend the technician who did my nails, Chelsea. I got the gel full set for my appointment, and she did not do a good job. When filing my nails, she cut the skin around my nails so hard to the point I was almost bleeding on one of my fingers. It stung a lot and was quite painful throughout the entire appointment. Not only did she do this once, but she cut my skin again on my other hand. She layered the gel incredibly high and stumpy on some fingers, so my all my fingernails just looked uneven and unmatched. Even when applying the nail polish, she didn't coat them properly so I got a few air bubbles and uneven layers with literally the base sticking out. It was so uneven that when I got home they were bumps around the sides of my nails giving them an uneven shape, I had to file my nails myself just to fix them. My nails looked so rushed and uneven that I actually got embarrassed having them, so I got them taken out the following week. I figured out the reason why they looked so rushed, its because there was a bridal party immediately after my appointment, so they just didn't care how my nails looked. They just wanted me out so they could spend more time on the bridal party. So its clear they are not good on time management as well. The price is also very high. My gel set was around $65, and I added some glitter on one finger for both hands. My price went up to $80. The worst part was that when I went to pay, they kept the machine at their hands and told me what tip to pay them. It honestly felt embarrassing and very rude. Usually your given the machine but they kept it and decided to plug in the numbers themselves. For these reasons, I will not be coming back here ever again. read more
