First and foremost, I will be filing a formal complaint with the board of cosmetology for violations of health and sanitation regulations being violated. I also suspect that Methyl Methacrylate Liquid Monomer aka MMA is being used which is illegal in the State of North Carolina. The first red flag was when I sat down to get my nail done was a giant cut fingernail laying on the table. The manicurist proceeded to use dirty instruments on my nails and after asking him several times he proceeded to reach down and grab a different file, which still looked used. He then stopped mid-service to fix another client's nail with a file that he was using on my nails and then attempted to use the now cross-contaminated file on my hands. Nail instruments such as files are inexpensive and CLEAN and unused when used on a client. This is hands down a chop shop. read more

My previous review was for a Nail Palace at a different location. Not sure if the name has just been recycled, but this location on Horner is top-notch! The place is huge, with probably about 25 pedicure massage chairs and 12 manicure stations. There are a lot of people on staff, so even if it's busy, you don't really have to wait long. They offer refreshments including water and soda and even fruit cups for free. They give you a color palette of nail color choices where the gel nail colors match the normal polish in case you don't want to do gel on your toes, like me. They have a new kind of gel polish that one of the employees called "Chrome nails". They are beautiful iridescent colors that I haven't seen anywhere else. Just stunning! All of the employees are very friendly. My only critique is I wish they would have the place set up to allow for your mani and pedi to be done at the same time like they do in California. It saves SO much time!! But, I haven't seen that here in NC. read more

My daughter has been a customer of "one of the best"(as stated by management) nail techs for over 3 years. Despite rising prices her quality has always been on point so she continued to use her. Tonight she went in for her senior prom nails and was very disappointed in the quality. During the first service she mentioned she didn't like the thickness but was told it would mess up the set if she corrected it. Almost immediately my daughter went back in to ask that they be fixed. She was charged again full price. As a stylist, if I provide a service that is not quality and my customer requests I make it right, it is done at no cost because the mistake was mine. The manager stated the issue was not her tech, but that my daughter just did not know what she wanted. I've been going to this nail salon for a few months now and sadly I do not want to go back. I went for an SNS re-do. I had a guy this time, normally a female. He asked if I want cut down I said no. Well he filed so much off he HAD to cut down the nails on my other hand. I asked for soft square and he couldn't get it right. Then he kept messing up on two of my fingers. After that he kept coming to the nail dryer to see if it had dried. He checked by PRESSING on it and when you do that to SNS it leaves a smudge appearance. I said DUDE if you keep pressing on it you're going to keep messing it up. He nodded and smiled and then just kept doing it. I was there for three hours. In order for my two nails to be fixed he had to put gel nail polish on it. I was furious and it showed on my face. Kept having to tell the tech not to massage my ankles a certain way that would induce labor...well, like I said I had my beautiful daughter the very next morning. It's literally a mile from my house and I didn't want to drive 40 min to a decent place. Big mistake. My toe nail polish is already chipping, some spots aren't even painted. ??? How?! And then my gel manicure (the nail bar was still nasty and gross) is horrendous. She filed my nails way too low and lopsided, they are not even! Me and my family just recently moved to sanford and just found this place and thought it was amazing, at first me and my mom would consistently go together and get our hands and feet done consistently by a husband and wife and they are alway so kinda and friendly until one day last week my mother went in to get a fill in and our usual was backed up so my mother decided to get a pedicure to kill time before her turn to get a fill in and she got someone different then our usual a younger man who from jump didn't want to do her nails and was extremely rude tans snarky with her from jump and she continued being kind even to his awful attitude and it caused a whole blow out argument with no owner or management intervening to stop the issue or find resolve with the terrible behavior of this employee until she told him not to do her nails if he is going to act that way and this all stemmed because he didn't want to do her nails and instead someone else. So let me start by saying that I used to come here all the time prior to Covid. This was my go-to place! Now that I feel safer to go out again, I decided to get my nails done. I saw some terrible recent reviews, but I figured that every experience was different & since I could not find any other nail places here in Sanford I decided to go here! Not to mention, as I said previously, this was my go to nail place years prior. Now I made an appointment the previous day, but when I came in today, I did not get service until an hour after my schedule time! Now, I'm not one to complain about times, places are busy & especially on the weekends. My main complaint are my nails itself. I showed a picture of what I wanted (marble nails) to the tech and I had asked him if this was something he could do. I also said I had other nail options in mind if he couldn't do that. He told me that it was no problem, in fact one of the receptionists hyped him up to be really good at marble. However, this was NOT what I had in mind & when I had mentioned something about that he told me that the picture I showed him was "inaccurate" and how it's "harder to do marble with gel nail polish & that picture was done with dip powder." Instead, my nails look like someone spilled paint or maybe even drew squiggly lines on the nails. This is NOT marble at all! I also suggested a color change & rather than take off the paint color, he painted over the original & then went on about how I am "persistent" and how "things don't get past me" for about 5 minutes. This made me feel awful for asking that my nails to look like I wanted them to. Mind you, I don't like to complain, in fact this is my first review! I'm very much the person to accept poor service or even brush off people's poor performance as having a bad day or rough moment. This nail tech smacked my shin every time he was trying to indicate that he was ready to work on the next foot. When I told him he was hurting me he laughed. He cut two of my toes with his sharp fingernails and then sprayed alcohol on the exposed skin. He literally rubbed the lotion on in seconds, was so rough that I had to tell him 3 times to be easier, rushed me to pick a color, and finished my pedicure a whole 15 minutes before my mom was done. And we started at the same time. There was nothing relaxing about my experience at all. I told Nate & the kid at the front desk about my experience and they didn't do anything about it and still paid full price for both services. My mom had a nice lady as her nail tech and for that I tipped accordingly, but as for the man who took care of me I have never been treated this bad in a nail salon in my life. I will never be back. My friend and I went to this place for the first time and will never go back. My friend got a full set and the guy doing her nails did not ask her the length or shape she wanted her nails, just proceeded to make them very short and they're very uneven. She showed him a picture of the design she wanted and her nails are nothing like the picture. I got a fill and mine and very uneven and crooked. I have coffin nails and the lady doing my nails made them so thin they don't look like coffin anymore. She even left a clump of acrylic on my nail and didn't fix it. I went there with a friend on a busy Saturday morning to get a pedi/mani. There were only 2 guys working there, and the place had already 4 customers being serviced. We were seated on the massage chairs for the pedi, but one of the chairs (mine!) was out of order, which he apologized for. Well, we soaked our feet for about 30 minutes before one of the guys started on my girlfriend's pedi. By the time he was done with her feet, mine were all pruney, having been soaking for a looooong time! In the meantime, more people came in the store and they were told it was only going to be a 20 minute wait (riiiight!!!!). So after 1.5 hours that it took for our pedicures, we decided to skip the mani and we said good riddance to the Nail Palace. I also forgot to mention that the "special" required cash only, but we did not get a receipt. read more
