I have no idea how long this is going to last. I just got them done.. I was sitting in my car eating a bagel before going into HOTWORX. Not the brightest idea I admit. I happened to park in front of the nail salon and it said eyebrow tinting on the window. Normally I would've paid it no mind except I've been bombarded with brow tint videos on IG lately. So I took a chance. First, she waxed them. Then she line them up with a razor.. then she painted them on. Before she started, she asked me did I want them thick? resounding YES. I'm pleased with the result. They are perfect for my face shape and my nose. There were five people here--only two spoke passable English. I asked everyone for brow pictures and all I got was smiles and "yes yes yes yes yes sit down". So I pulled a pic from IG of how I wanted it. And she did a good job. There weren't any customers at the time, it was almost 11 AM Thursday, so I was taken right away. I don't know anything about the nails. I do my own nails. read more

This place is very close to my house which is why I started going. It's clean, the mail artists are fast and they do a good job. It is moderately priced (77$ for shellac mani/pedi). They take walk ins and I have never waited more than 15 minutes (although I try not to go after work or weekends when it would be super busy). Parking in front is no fuss. They have really nice massage chairs that you sit in while getting a pedicure. The nail techs give the best foot/calf massages. They have a large selection of nail polish colors as well. read more

I thought I'd give this place a try since it was fairly close. The google review versus the Yelp reviews are highly contrasting. It was very clean in there and had a simplistic design. They asked what I wanted and while I was seated quickly the nail tech seemed like he was in a bad mood. He used an electric file and filed my nails down so paper thin they became very sensitive. The way my fingers were twisted for a better angle was very rough and agitated. Now here I am 3 days later and it has already began to chip and peel. An almost 40 dollar shellac manicure already gone and my nails are a bit damaged now. I don't think I will come back or at least get another tech. read more

Ooh man. If you've read my reviews you know I hate leaving a bad one but here we go. Pros-they were able to accommodate us as a walk-in. Prices are fair and that's about it We had fun but that's just us. She was so rough on my nails, stabbing me as she rotated the tool probably on accident but be mindful. Three bloody cuticles and a before/after meme is what I got. I've been to this place for years but felt like they pushed me off on the new guy. I asked them if they could do it. The new guy didn't know basic words like brown or glitter. He seemed like a genuinely nice guy and I wish he had done a better job. But he didn't, so I won't be back. Don't go here, shellac manicures are only $25 and I learned exactly why when I went here for the first time. I got my nails done last weekend and the shellac started to chip off two days later. The brand they use is CHEAP I've literally never heard of it in my life. Not to mention the lady that did my nails made two of my fingers bleed because she cut my nails too short. One of my nails still randomly bleeds because of the way she cut the nail. Go pay an additional $5-$10 somewhere down the street so you can get OPI nail polish and good quality. read more

I flew into town and broke a nail along the way. Yelp helped me find this shop. Juan (?) did my nails. I insisted on a nail repair, but got a fill in. I'm used to nail techs being overly friendly, this shop was mainly about their business, no room for small talk. They seemed to have a few regulars, one even stopped by just to say hello. That's always a good sign. The shape of my nails was done correctly. I also appreciate the acrylic being slightly thin but functional. The only dislikes were the shop discouraging me to do a glitter nail, I felt like I had to fight for it because I kept getting disregarded on this. Also, I prefer colored acrylic, they only offer shellac polish which has begun to peel on me after 5 days. read more

I was going to this salon for well over a year pretty consistently. What isn't consistent is the treatment. Sometimes they would speak. Sometimes they wouldn't. Even though I was a consistent customer, there were several times when they weren't the friendliest. Calvin did a great job on my nails but has left without telling me even though he knew I was waiting on him. He would go to the back for several minutes without acknowledging that I was waiting on him. I excused the rude customer service because I really liked the way he did my nails. The final straw for me was the last time I came in. I signed in and sat down. No one spoke to me. Not surprising because again this happened more often then it didn't here. A woman came in after me and was called to be serviced. I asked Calvin if he saw me sitting there. I was there first. He said "you came in and didn't speak. We said hello and you didn't speak". I said "as long as I've been coming here why would I not speak if you spoke to me". He was argumentative and it felt like he was attempting to chastise me. The customer service is unbelievably bad here. I will no longer patronize a business that doesn't respect me or my dollar. read more

8/10/2018 Have to update my review unfortunately. Took a friend here recently and had a less than satisfactory experience. First off the smell of nail chemicals was exceptionally strong- here in afternoon. Next water for pedicure was the hottest I've ever experienced and although woman tried to adjust at some point it was like, well is that enough so we can get started? And my feet were hot- not trying to be a whiny baby as I like it hotter than most. However towels and tub were both above average hot. Next while scrubbing I pointed out a sensitive part but she really didn't pay attention and scrubbed away. My friend had a bad toenail and instead of checking in with her her tech rubbed away at it- which made it hurt for her. Usually I like this place as it is unpretentious, relaxing, quiet, with a good pedicure. It was anything but at this visit and I'm not inclined to return. read more

After swearing I would never go back to this place due to the terrible service, I stopped in because other salons nearby had a wait and I had an appointment to get to. WORST DECISION EVER!!! I had an older woman start my pedicure and she took a chunk out of the corner of my big toe. It was heavily bleeding for 30 minutes and wouldn't stop, she kept dumping this blue liquid and pressing cotton balls into the open wound after I asked her to stop because it hurt so bad. I am so happy I found this place and Jimmy. Had the best set of acrylics I've ever had done in my life by him today. It's the first time, the manicurist didn't hurt me in the process of doing my nails. First time, someone meticulously shaped and filed my nails beautifully. And the first time anyone paid attention and fixed the underside of the nails during the process. I am so impressed! very rude attitudes from staff. This place has really bad customer service based on how they are feeling that day. I am a loyal customer for the last 2-3years. I went yesterday and waited for almost 2 hours and ended up leaving because they kept servicing people who came in after me. This place has a time sheet that you sign as soon as you come in but they don't abide by it. The time before that my shape and simple design of a smiley face was messed up. How do you mess up a smiley face? I will longer be going here or bringing my mother or sister to this place. Thats hundreds of dollars you're missing out on. Shellac didn't last at all. Peeled off within a couple of days. Tried to go back to have it fixed (which the gentleman said I could if this happened), walked in the place, explained the issue and the staff looked at me if I was insane. The lady simpler tried to fix only the nails that were peeling, um no Mam! I had them take it off, never again, waste of time and money. Justified my reasoning for not going to nail shops and simply taking care of these things at home. read more

This really is the best nail salon I've been too. Everyone is so nice and friendly. Always accomodate your needs. I went and got my regular fill in and one of the technicians ( who I haven't seen before, he wasn't the regular two that normally do it) Even though he did a good job, their were 3 nails that needed refixing. Long story short, they fixed them for me, no hassle. I ended up tipping the guy who normally does my fill-ins (sorry I cannot recall their names) he refused, but i said no here, just because he kindly took the time to refix three nails, That right there is great business! This nail place is consistent not high end and not too low budget. It's at a great location. Everyone is polite and the seats are comfortable. The pedicures, I would rate a 7/10. The massager works and decent cleanliness. I've had to ask them to change a few tools. They do not offer wax which was a downer. They have the hot towels and hot stone. The manicures are good. My cuticles are always on point. However, certain shellac polishes have chipped within a week. The restroom is decent Update- prices are good. Today's service was poor. I entered and was greeted. I only wanted a manicure and a full set today. I had a tech I've never had before but was sully confident in his ability. However, the nails were put on poorly. He had to redo a couple but still I'm patient so I said okay no problem. He filed my nails roughly. So I requested that he would do it with light pressure because that's hurting. Tell me why his nails were long.. so then he scratching trying to get the the corner of my nails. Once again, I requested for him to be alittle gentle. Then the acrylic was so sloppy. I asked him to redo it and he rushes me saying he'll get to it. The end results was bleeding cuticles and bubbles in my nails. And yes he did try to convince me to get shellac but after the French broke the same week with shellac no thank you. I've lived in downtown Detroit for over a year and a half and have been on a mission to find my "go-to" nail salon. I tried several downtown and in the Southfield area and saved Nail spa to my yelp favorites to try based on the positive ratings I saw. The first time I came, it was a Wednesday evening around 6:15pm. I got a full set and my toes painted with shellac by 7:30. I was greeted with a friendly greeting, everyone was very nice and I loved my nails! I was still getting compliments on my nails almost 3 weeks later. I came back for a fill on a Monday around 6:15 again and they were a little busier than I expected. I wasn't in a hurry so I didn't mind waiting. I absolutely loved my fill and ended up getting a pedi this time. I didn't sit in a chair for a pedi until about 7:20 even though they close at 7:30. The tech that helped me still took his time and did an amazing job! I apologized to him for keeping him late but he just kept saying it was no problem and was so nice. My fingers hurt I didn't deserve this My first time going to the place April 25 and was treated with straight racism and like a ghost they should never get African American females I payed 35 and my nails look disgusting I have paint all my finger the fist color in in the crevices of my nails. My nails look sloppy ‼ 15min before arriving I call ahead to see what the waiting time was. It was my first time going to this salon since moving to a new area and they did an okay job, my nails were a lot shorter than I wanted and the major thing for me was I didn't see anyone sanitizing the nail equipment after each client left. He did spray down the chair the previous client was sitting in but didn't clean the table or any nail tools. They are very fast and I was in the chair the second the other girl left but like I said I didn't see anyone cleaning the tools and I could tell the files were being used on multiple people. Another thing was my nails hurt so bad after leaving I immediately thought the worst from the unsanitary tools but thankfully my nails were fine just really sore which I've never experienced until visiting this salon.
