Miso cod? Like butter. Truffled tuna? Yeah 3 orders of that too. Even tried mink whale. Interesting flavor. It was very thin sliced and more like beef in texture. Just GOOOOOOOOOO delicious I wish we stayed longer in Bergen to come back and visit restaurant again. Everything we had was done to perfection. If I had the money I would have ordered one of everything from the sushi bar. Restaurant is pricey but well worth it for a good meal sit at the sushi bar and be amazed but the talented chefs surrounding you. One of the hardest jobs out there. This place is beautiful and has a lovely ambiance for a date or a fancy dinner with friends or family. Unfortunately the quality and flavor of there food does not match its atmosphere, especially not for the prices they offer. I came with my family and we all got sushi and some appetizers. The sushi was cold and the rice was over cooked and stiff as if it had been sitting in the fridge for a day. The tempura was freezing cold (definitely not freshly fried and the crab tasted strange). Our dessert was also not nearly as good as it looked. Fortunately our waitress, Mary, was a sweetheart. Although she told us she was new, she was very kind and helpful throughout all the service. Would not recommend for dining, but maybe for a nice drink with a friend. read more

This is my first and only 1-star review. Oh, where to begin! In all fairness, Nama Sushi had just re-opened 2-3 weeks ago after a short hiatus. That being said... FOOD. Totally missed the mark. The pork belly was dry (after sitting neglected under a heat lamp). The sashimi (salmon, halibut, king crab, tuna) was mostly underwhelming, maybe because I had deservedly high expectations. SERVICE. Disorganized. Scattered. Forgetful. After being seated, we had to wait 20-30 minutes for someone to take our order. The wait staff seemed confused beyond belief and didn't seem to recognize which dishes were which. Orders (including ours) were frequently messed up, as we saw dishes being re-plated, tossed, and otherwise left on the sushi bar. And after ordering, we waited another 30-ish minutes for our dry pork belly. We've never walked out on a place before, but were sorely tempted. ATMOSPHERE. Decent space. But I couldn't appreciate it in the context of such poor service. Wished I could have nominated Nama Sushi for Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares! Would have loved to see Gordon's fiery and colorful take on this place. read more

Nama has been relaunched and is now priced in the high-end range. A segment neither the food nor the service live up to. The menu is tempting and the premises are very nice. However, the food is not reflecting the high prices and the service is a disaster. The waiters are not smiling, not welcoming and actually almost rude. We had a reservation and upon our arrival, we were directed to our table with a grumpy "come here" from the young waiter. It was waiting involved, followed by all dishes served at the same time (starters and mains), each order on a huge plate that made it difficult to make room for all on the table. No food advices were given; we were pretty much on our own. Nama used to be great before the refurbishment, but it appears they believe high-end allows snobby service. The layout was great, with a comfortable inset waiting area. The staff was courteous (except for one strange guy). The host was very warm and welcoming when we walked into the restaurant. Our server was great. She immediately grabbed us an English menu when she realised that we don't speak Norsk, and followed through with her promptness throughout our meal. The food was amazing! We ordered shrimp tempura, a salmon dish in a mango sauce, and a basic salmon/avocado roll. The shrimp was perfect! It had a melt-in-your-mouth way of falling apart and tasted just as well (we ended up ordering it again after our main course). The salmon dishes were equally as fresh and supple, but the shrimp was the best. Definitely coming back here when we visit Bergen next. read more

If you enjoy sushi, you must try this restaurant. The food is exquisite. No time to take any pictures, we devoured everything as soon as it hit the table. The fish is fresh and every dish was prepared perfectly. Hands down one of the best sushi restaurants I have ever been to. Too bad we discovered it our last night in Bergen. read more

My parents, uncle, aunt and I dined at Nama on our last night in Bergen. My mother and I ordered the salmon ceviche to share and got food poisoned from it. During dinner, our stomachs started to hurt and when we got back to the our hotel, we both started puking and having diarrhea problems. This lasted the entire night and into the morning. We were not able to fall asleep because of it and had to head to the airport extremely fatigue and with stomach pain. If you don't want to end your Bergen trip on a bad note, don't visit this restaurant. Furthermore, the waitress was rude the entire time, forgetting our requests and ruined our mood for dinner. read more

Although pricey, the sushi was very good. We had some sashimi (yellowtail, salmon, and red snapper), all which were very fresh, perfectly cut and delicious. We had two rolls as well (can't remember the names), which was good but not anything exceptional. The main reason why I'm giving five stars is for the waitress that we had. She was so sweet, personable, knowledgeable, and kind, and it truly made our experience exponentially better. She made sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing, providing recommendations when asked, and offering a smile to anyone and everyone. So it was my boyfriend and my first trip to Norway, so we decided to try whale sashimi. Oddly enough, the other waitress and the sushi chef himself did not know the name of the type of whale... but when our server came back, she told us it was the common Norwegian whale, the minke whale. Per her recommendation, we decided to go for it and we loved it! Although covered with teriyaki sauce, you could taste the flavor that resembled more of steak, as well as the texture. Best sushi in Bergen! We had several rolls to share and all were delicious. The fish is very good quality and the waitresses are very kind. We ordered also some desserts which also were amazing, one in chocolate and the cheese cake. The only thing is that it is a little bit expensive for sushi dishes, but according to the country and other restaurants it is on the average. read more

I usually go here 3-4 times a year. I appreciate the lovely sushi fusion combos, the soba noodles, and the avocado salad is delicious. The noodles is a great alternative for those who are afraid of trying the sushi. I think the prices are okey, perhaps i tiny bit more expensive then the regular sushi restaurants i Bergen, but also at some point even cheaper. For those who havent tried sushi before I recommend Hot Philadelphia Roll which is my cousins favourite, and was her entry point to the world of delightful sushi. I am also pleased with service. Many other reviews commented on the service here so I was glad I had a heads up and knew what to expect. The service is so bad and so weird. There are multiple people swarming around but they weren't helping us. We had a 8:15 reservation. We asked for a drink menu from one of the servers, never got it. Then another server took our order, again we asked for a drink menu, no luck. We even tried to order drinks at the bar and were told we needed to order from our waiter. So strange, don't restaurants make a ton of money on booze?! We finally got our drinks after we were 3/4 of the way finished with our meal. Horrible! So why 2 stars??? The food is amazing. We got all sushi and it was so good. The fish is so fresh and perfect. It was really great food and I did overhear the people at the bar comment on the good service from the sushi bar chef. Maybe the key is to sit at the sushi bar. It's good but a frustrating experience. read more

Fantastic! I do belive it`s the most expensive sushi restaurant in town but without a doubt they have the best food. Even though ur wallet might get a bit thinner, ur taste buds will never forget the experience. I had the Mahi mahi ceviche with marinated oranges and tomatoe, amazing. And I do belive you cannot visit Nama without having a Ura maki called Hot Philadelphia, one word, foodgasm. For dessert I highly recommend the white truffle with foie gras mousse (I first ordered the Matcha cake but they were sold out, always a good sign). "Only" four stars because of the price and because the staff could be more service minded since we were a table of six and sat for at least 30 min without a drink (But the non alcoholic seven up I ordered at the bar was spiced up with fresh lime and apple, the best seven up I`ve ever had :)). As well as the fact that I like it when you have one waitress that serve your table and not 3-4 different ones. But all in all a great restaurant with AMAZING food, nice atmosphere and a place I will deffinitly come back to. read more
