The staff here dress extremely casual, which would be fine for lunch orders, however, I think for dinner they should wear a type of uniform to create a more professional appeal- Even if it was an all-black uniform. The table settings are simple here. For a small family run restaurant like this, it's not necessary for the lavish cutlery and plates. The ambience is nice, there is traditional Indo-Lankan music playing softly in the background, however, I find the menu boards on the walls are comparable to a local fish and chip shop. It doesn't work quite as effectively for this Indo-Lankan restaurant. A lovely place to dine for casual lunch or dinner, however, if you plan to dine alfresco, please note your view will be of a parking lot. Every time I have been there, the staff will welcome you with a smile. The Chef will sometimes come out of the kitchen to view the dining area to ensure his customers are enjoying their meal. Of them the aloo tikki chaat (fried mashed potatoes with an alluring combination of chickpeas and garnishes on top) was the best. I couldn't say that the food here was better than any of the other numerous grocery/restaurant Indian places I've found in Brisbane. They've also had some issues ranging from running out of menu items to struggling with card payments that aren't dealbreakers but aren't helping my impression of them either. We browsed their takeaway menu and called to order at 11:45am (time is of the essence when you're on a time limit!) only to be told the kitchen didn't open until midday. We suggested they could take the order and give it to the kitchen and we would come to pick up once it was done, but that seemed all too complicated. So we piled into the car and ordered in person. The restaurant sits one floor above a bustling Indian food market. Walking through the downstairs section everything looked very authentic - this is coming from someone who's never been to India mind you - but it all looked fresh and absolutely delicious! The restaurant itself is a vast expanse of dark stained timber and silk tableware. It reminds me of the 1990's and felt very clean and polished. They have a huge well-stocked bar (I saw 5 different bottles of gin, and being an avid gin-drinker I was very impressed). We ordered lunch specials and waited for approximately 20 minutes for the meals. When we were back at the office seated in our lunchroom there were many positive comments. "The best curry I've had in ages" one person said, and another (originally from the UK) said it "tastes like the awesome curries we get back in England". I was extremely impressed with the soft, pillowy rice and creamy succulent curries. They were devoid of excess oil and had a lovely complexity to them. The meats were perfectly cooked and there was no dryness. Also the lunch servings are very generous - although the packaging leaves something to be desired. All in all for under $13 the meals were delicious. We will definitely be going back, but probably only on days we can afford to take slightly longer than our regulated lunch hour.
