Really cool spot inside an Indian grocery store, serving up vegetarian Indian dishes. There's a good variety of options, and for the lunch combos, you get to choose from different breads--both fried and baked--to go with your curries/vegetables. They also include rice, pickles, and other sides like samosas if you go for a larger combo. Friendly people and great food.

Whenever I'm in the Thousand Oaks area and the timing is right, I like to stop by Namaste Spiceland. Their hot food is what attracts me and if you go at 9:00 am when they open, the food is not ready and you can see being prepared in the kitchen. It all comes out around 11 AM so you know it's fresh, there's a different menu every day and even though they are priced high, their selections have intense flavor, In addition, there is texture, a good mix of a variety of Indian spices, distinctive for each dish and a limited but attractive menu. All the food is vegetarian, but it is prepared daily, every morning. I started with the appetizer of aloo tiki, and then one medhu vada. The first with the two chutneys, the tamarind and the mint, and the second with the coconut chutney. I'd say the vada with coconut chutney was my favorite appetizer. As a carryout, I took the two item combo where I had garbanzo beans and lentils with rice. It comes with raita , and instead of pickle, I asked for chopped red onions. For the bread I chose the chapati, which turned out to be rubbery by the time I ate it (after 2 hours) and instead of plain rice, I had the coconut rice which was flavorful, but not soaking in coconut fragrance. That's the way I like it. This is a good place to visit if you're in the mood for wholesome vegetarian north Indian and south Indian food, to dine in, or to go.

This was my first time at Namaste, and I was really impressed by the large menu, selection in the grocery store section, and the friendly staff. I had my heart set on trying dosa, since I had heard that they were delicious. The size of the dosa was massive, and it came with 2 spicy sauces and a side of lentil soup. The dosa is filled with a spicy potato mixture. Very flavorful with a crispy yet soft texture. It's like a huge rolled crepe. I ended up taking half of it home since it is very filling. At $9, it was also a great value! I also ordered a paneer curry to take home- very delicious. What's cool is that they offer samples from their hot bar. The menu also has a section of South Indian dishes. I'm not knowledgeable about the nuances of Indian cuisine, but I am excited to come back and try more things!

Delicious Southern Indian food and a local gem! I have been searching for a place for good and authentic dosa and I was so glad to have them in Namaste Spiceland! Located on Thousand Oaks Boulevard near Armstrong Garden, this eatery is both a grocery store and a restaurant. Parking is ample on street and in the parking lot outside the eatery. This eatery offers a good selection of dosa and the serving size is very generous. I had the spring dosa, which was like a wrapped Indian pancake with tomatoes and green peppers inside. The dosa also came with a side of lentil soup, but I found it slightly too salty. The serving size was so generous that you could have split the dosa into two meals. The eatery is also a grocery store and it carries a large selection of ethnic Indian food. Coming from an Asian culture, I love the availability of such a rich selection of varieties of rice. I also found a good selection of British snacks, which is hard to find in most US supermarkets. Overall, this is a must-try eatery. This has become my go-to place for good authentic dosa!

This "Ready to serve food" restaurant is located inside of market with plenty of indoor and outdoor sitting. I got the two veggies plate combo with garlic naan. I loved their naan. It was extremely delicious. When you walk into the store they will take your order and have you pay after you finish eating if you choose to eat their. At the end of my meal I got one of their ice creams and my total was very reasonable considering everything I ate. I can't really say much on service but everyone was nice.

My mom purchased a cabbage and, after bringing it home, discovered that it was rotten all the way to the core. Only a day had passed since the purchase, so she returned to the market with both the spoiled cabbage and her receipt, expecting to receive a refund and purchase a replacement. Instead, she was asked to wait for nearly 30 minutes while an employee reviewed CCTV footage to verify that she had purchased the cabbage.. even though she had already provided her receipt. After reviewing the footage, the employee accused her of using part of the cabbage because it appeared smaller than the one shown on camera. My mom explained that she had removed the outer layers to determine whether the rot extended to the center, which it did. Logically.. why would she use a spoiled cabbage?! Despite this explanation, the employee refused to believe her and denied the refund. What should have been a simple and straightforward customer service issue became an unnecessarily rude and humiliating experience. After years of shopping here, we are extremely disappointed by how she was treated. Because of this experience, we will no longer be returning as customers.

This is one of the few Mitsuwa that doesn't have a food court (San Gabriel is another one without). The premade food section was surprisingly pretty good, better options than the Torrance or Santa Monica locations, imo. They do carry the same poke bowl that is also sold at Torrance. The store closes at 9:00pm, so the premade food section is pretty much cleared out and the self checkout is closed by around 8:00pm. The late hours actually got the busiest because only one staffed cash register was open and customers had to get in line instead of the self checkout. The store is clean and spacious, lots of self checkouts that are open during the day, and the bathrooms were clean (just need to get the code from a staff member!). I came three times on a weekday, once a little after lunch and another right around 5:30 and then around 8:00. Parking was a breeze every time. They have plenty of parking adjacent to the store. The other side of the shopping center gets a little busy, but Mitsuwa is at the comfortable corner closest to the train tracks. Getting out of the parking lot can be challenging because Tampa is a busy street and some people try to make a left turn out (I have my opinions about that lol). If heading out towards CSUN, the shopping center also has two exits out to Nordhoff so that worked well for me. I was in the area for a few job interviews... If I am hired nearby I'm definitely coming to this Mitsuwa a lot :)

This market is a pretty standard Asian goods focused grocery store. I found about 85% of what I wanted here. I wish they had a premium sushi section and some more Hawaiian imported goods (aside from juices and sauces) but otherwise I was able to find everything I was looking for. Their hot bar is also solid. A wide selection of items to pick and I felt the pricing was reasonable. Actually throughout the whole store the prices are good compared to other grocery stores right now. I had a full bag of items for $50, good luck elsewhere getting those kinds of prices. I didn't have too much of an interaction with the staff while there, but again, lots of people working and keeping this spot in tip top shape. Then I worked up my courage at the kitchen and asked the guy if he could help me, because I had no idea what I was looking at, but it all looked and smelled amazing! He was so sweet and after asking, if we were vegetarians, which we weren't, he then gave us samples of two of the most popular dishes. These were both stews and had such a complexity of flavor. One is with ground walnuts, and pomegranate juice and small little meatballs, and the other was this amazing mix of herbs and greens and fava beans, which I might not normally choose, but tasted great! We ended up getting containers of those and then tried a couple different types of the rice. One had dill and other herbs in it, while the other one seemed to have lentils and maybe raisins? Once again, so good. We also got a quarter chicken and he packed them all up. It comes with this wonderful yogurt, herbed condiment. Our only mistake was not also picking up some flatbread to go with it. I picked up a chopped cucumber and tomato salad, and it's great because they have the dressing separated inside the container so it doesn't get soggy. Yes, like most places in Encino parking is going to be interesting! Their parking is directly in front of their entrance and at first it didn't look like there was anything, but then we realize there actually was. I found everybody friendly, even had some very lovely woman recommend some of the nuts and seeds to us. Speaking of which they have an enormous selection of both. I had no idea there were so many different types of sunflower seeds to name just one of the selections. In retrospect, I should've gotten some cookies! We will definitely be back, I would think it would be a great place to stock up and treat friends to an interesting set of new tastes. If you're vegetarian, they have an enormous selection as well.
