Scania Bar - Kimchi Fries-so good & great for sharing!

We arrived around 6:00 & all of the regular tables were taken (or reserved) so we took a high top in the back. They have a good selection of mixed drinks & beer & given they are known for their Tequila drinks we went with the Elderflower Mangria. A bit tart, some sweet and all excellent! We ordered the Beef (Yaki Niku), Pork (Al Pastor), Chicken (Dak Bulgogi) & Jackfruit Tacos. All were very good with a nice balance of spicy from the peppers and sweet & tangy pickled onions along with the tender/marinated meats. Beef was the best & Pork/Jackfruit are tied for second. The portion is decent and two are enough unless you are really hungry. We wanted the Kimchi fries but they weren't available on this Taco Tuesday unfortunately. We ordered the regular fries & they were ok. I would check to see what's being served at dinner before making the trip The ladies serving & at the bar were friendly & service minded. That said, a bit stretched as they were doing it all except making the food so at times service was a little slow. Overall, the restaurant/bar is cozy & I was skeptical about Korean/Mexican fusion but they are making it work! A hidden gem & I'm looking forward to returning to try lunch & other entrees. .

They have this concept of Mexican Korean fusion which might prompt a proper "WHUT?" from you, but to tell you honestly - it works. Sure, it might not be the real thing, whether it's Mexican or Korean, but they're tasty stuff and I'd be happy to eat bibimbap with yakiniku beef (that's my favourite, btw) for lunch (slightly better deal than dinner, imho) with a margarita on the side. Food is food, and what's good is good. Service is always friendly and you can get a salad and free coffee / tea on the side, that is if you don't want margarita or the refreshing lagerita (recommended!), or maybe you're just being greedy :P Do check their opening hours and days though because it seems that they were closed for lunch service in weekend or something like that.

The couple dining next to us also mentioned they had seen several rats running towards the kitchen area. The staff reacted so badly when confronted and tried to gaslight us to believe it was "normal for the area" and they could not give any more discount than 10% (66kr) as their manager was not present. I cannot believe I actually payed for the food without. We should have just left instantly! The most disgusting experience in a restaurant I have ever experienced. We could have gotten seriously sick or infected. I've worked in restaurants many years as a chef in Copenhagen and have never seen a single rat. The staff handled this so badly that I will never recommend this place to anyone ever. In Denmark we have a moral obligation to report any sighting of rats anywhere and this will also be done in this case, to Miljöförvaltningen Malmö.

My husband got the chili and we split both. The chili was thick and meaty. Cooked perfectly with all the right flavors. But the meatballs were show-stopping for me. Loved it. If you're in the area stop by and get the meatballs!

Being a Korean-American from Southern California, my expectations were not so high when I saw that…read morethere was a dedicated Korean food stall at Copenhagen Street Food. But when I spotted "Korean spicy deepfry chicken" on the menu, I was shocked. Unfortunately it was nothing like the Korean-style deep-fried chicken that I'm used to. Normally it is made with drumsticks or wings, fried twice, and coated in a spicy-sweet sauce. This was strips of chicken breast (ie. the driest part of the bird) with quite a bit of batter, some salad thrown on top as an afterthought, and some sauce on the side which was not spicy at all. On its own, the chicken 'fries' were just ok, though I needed a lot more sauce since they were so dry. The other offerings looked authentic, and obviously I had to try the kimchi. The kimchi was excellent and its addition vastly improved the chicken! The the dish I tried only garnered 3 stars, the kimchi earns one extra. I would like to come back and try some of the other items.

We ended up going through the entire street food stalls and hitting here twice. Both times we got Bulgogi. It was awesome. They make it fresh to order for you. The staff was awesome and even joked with us when we came back for seconds. The beef was super tender - marinated beef in soy sauce with ginger, garlic, onion. It served with a little salad on the same - mainly purple and white cabbage and good properly steamed rice. They also make really good homemade kimchi. Plus its all organic? Triple Win! Dont forget to add the typical homemade Korean Hot Sauce - its actually not really hot, more sweet unhot chili paste thats like a sauce and goes amazing with the beef and rice. Only 80 Kr for a good portion. Go, eat Bulgogi and get a side of kimchi. One of the best place in town for Japanese and Korean food. Cosy and friendly, spacious and clean.read more

What a fool I am! In my Studieskolen days, I passed by this place many times but figured it was…read morelike most Japanese-Korean mix establishments: BAD! However I was pleasantly surprised and now I know where to get my Korean fix in Copenhagen when I'm feeling homesick. Since it was a very cold day, I wanted something hot and comforting. The Samgyetang menu (310 dkk) appealed to me especially since it comes with small sides (banchan). Normally this soup is eaten in the summer, but I think it also goes over well on these winter evenings. Our server brought out a whole cornish hen sizzling in the stone pot on a wooden trivet with salt and pepper on the side. Spot-on presentation! However there was no ginger or glutinous rice inside the chicken, much less jujube or ginseng. Although chicken is the star of this dish, the rice and herbs play a huge role. This was very disappointing, even though the meat was cooked perfectly and falling off the bone. Before we were served the main (Korean) dishes, we received a little Japanese appetizers. One was a spinach salad (ohitashi) and a shrimp salad with bean thread (ebi sunomono). These were very nice and refreshing but of course I would have preferred a Korean starter. Soon after came gyoza/mandu, which was good. Right before the mains came out we got the banchan, and so prettily arranged! There was seafood pancake (haemul pajeon), carrot kinpira, kimchi, potato pancake (gamjajeon), and seaweed salad. The kinpira was a bit out of place, I think beansprouts would have fit in better. Though they were a little oily, the pancakes were good. Now the kimchi was excellent! I can say this with confidence since I am Korean, I've been brought up eating kimchi, and I do make my own. You can even buy it by the kilo here. Good to know. At the end of the meal we got a scoop of sickly-sweet strawberry ice cream and a pretty but not very tasty strawberry for dessert. I would have preferred green tea ice cream or even some seasonal fruit, the latter being more common in Korean cuisine. Since it is winter I would have been ok with no dessert and just a cup of ginseng tea instead. Although the missing ingredients in the samgyetang made me feel cheated, the banchan was mostly good and so was the service. I look forward to trying more authentic Korean dishes here.

Kopan seems to have given the greatest push this year with their food cart serving sweet and savoury pancakes. Their old name, seed hoddeok, refers to deep-fried dough which is flattened and opened to make a pocket, then stuffed with seeds and honey/brown sugar. I tried a sample of it and the dough is tender and slightly chewy inside with a nice crispy crust. I ordered rice cakes mixed with fish cakes (tteokbokki) for 45kr and the rice cakes were especially good with a slight crisp on the outside. They were only a little spicy to me, but tasted great. It is a small but very filling dish as the rice cakes are very compact. I also got a marinated grilled beef (bulgogi) pancake for 50kr. It was very morseish with onions and potato starch noodles (japchae) and the freshly fried dough was even better than the sample of the seed pancake. This is a great place to stop by when you need a substantial snack or just want to try some authentic Korean street food.

She tried to put some lemon in it but some sugar prob would have worked. The ramen I had was excellent. Though a little too salty. All the ingredients were very tasty. For me, this is like 3 meals in one sitting., I ate as much as I could, but I asked the waitress if I could have a container to bring the rest home. I wouldn't think this should be a problem to take your leftover food that you paid for with you, and open up a seat for someone in queue waiting to come in to get a meal. She said she had to ask the chef if I can take a container, and then she asked the chef right in front of me. He looked right at me blankly, and told her no after looking at me. I have to say that was not very nice service. To look right at my face and decide that I'm not to bring my leftovers with me., and just waste all of it. While I can see a stack of leftover containers in the kitchen right from my seat. That was just a shame because more than half of my food was left over. I have a small stomach and I can't eat all this one sitting! Wish I could! I thought I would just eat the rest of it later in the evening. But the chef said no container for you. I tried to eat a little more of it but had to leave a lot of it behind. How wasteful! That really bummed me out when he said no, as I tried to force a few more bites. I wanted to thank him for the meal because it was so delicious, but I was so irritated at that point every time I look at him. To me that was a big strike even if your food is good. I don't think I would go back there again. The waitress was friendly though. I do understand why you don't allow takeout since the art of the bowl would be compromised while walking or biking, I do think when someone has more than half of their food left over you could be gracious to give them a container to put it in. So that was really wasteful and I don't think I would come back here again but if you're very hungry and you can eat a lot of food get there early so you can get a seat otherwise it's a 40 minute wait outside in line on the street, and a very small location with no bathroom. The food was very good. The chef's rude temperment and the leftover container policy needs work.
