Nandos at The Potteries Centre is one of the few restaurants left within the mall, the outdoor area in which this place is located is so deserted and depressing, full of empty units and a cinema which just looks abandoned and spooky - despite to the best of my knowledge still being in operation.
They were fairly quiet on my visit, so I was able to get a booth despite dining alone - it was pretty comfortable.
As with any Nando's in general, you can order via the Nando's app / QR code at your table, or if you prefer the personal touch there is always the option of ordering at the counter. If like me, you have an allergy, you'll need to order at the counter with a manager to make sure the request is sanctioned correctly.
I did find the food expensive for what it is, as of June 2024, my meal came to £15, which I find to be a little expensive for fast casual, and that doesn't include extras such as drinks and Perinaise. The prices also seem to be rising out of control too, even in the current climate they seem to be putting their prices up every couple of months, much more frequently than rivals. Despite being a chicken restaurant, they don't offer regular mayonnaise, so you'll have to choose between their vegan alternative or pay extra for their Peri-naise (mayonnaise mixed with peri-peri sauce).
The manager was friendly, she took me to the table and eventually took my order. I went for my usual Nando's order:
Medium Chicken Butterfly, with Peri Chips. Spicy Rice and Perinaise
The overall food quality wasn't great, my chicken tasted good but it was served lukewarm, the rice was all clumped together, and the chips were piping hot which suggests they made the rest of the meal too early if only the chips were hot.
2* - Far from the best Nando's, as reviews suggest. I would be unlikely to return if I was ever in the area again, but due to a lack of alternatives nearby, I may be left with little choice. read more
