Dr Brisbane has gone into private practice, and apparently she left Rockwood so she had more freedom to rip off her patients. I saw Dr Brisbane a few times at Rockwood and since I liked her, I figured I'd go see her in her new office. Despite my telling the receptionist that I'd been a patient of hers in the past, I was not warned that there was an upcharge for a contacts exam that there hadn't been at Rockwood. I almost walked out of the office when I read that in the fine print of the paperwork but I desperately needed to review my contacts prescription. During the exam I was ferried back and forth between two different rooms numerous times, which was annoying. The exam was efficient but at the end Dr Brisbane tried to bully me into buying contacts from her instead of Costco, where I always get them. She said the price was about the same. Even if that was true (and it isn't, because Costco always has sales), it isn't exactly convenient for me to drive across town during business hours when I could easily go to Costco after work. I repeatedly refused. At the desk I paid my extra $40 for a contacts exam, sure that my insurance would cover it as I've never paid extra in the past. My contacts prescription is only good for a year, another frustrating thing, as it has always been two years. Today I called to ask for my $40 back as my claim was paid in full by my insurance, and learned that they hadn't even submitted the claim for that portion to my insurance. The billing lady was condescending and said if they submitted it, it would come out of my hardware benefit. I should have just walked out of the office before my appointment. I will never be back. read more

To address Janessa, its absolutely correct to charge for a Contact Lens evaluation over a regular eye exam, as it involves an enormous amount of time and practice liability. If you were not charged at Rockwood, that is a rare exception and not the rule. Its also true that Costco charges the same price for Contacts on most brands, and its absolutely true that with many insurances using that $40 for a Contact evaluation will nullify you materials benefits. $40 is really cheap, there are places that charge $150. I don't work or have any affiliation with this practice, but have worked in the Optical industry for 20 years. I would hate to see this practice punished for just doing what is standard in the industry, and trying to save a patient heir full benefits. read more

Dr. Brisbane is one of the most conscientious and competent eye doctors in this area. She's very thorough and recently helped my daughter get through a complicated episode of vision distortion problems. She spent a lot of extra time getting her through the testing and figuring it out. She's extremely honest and genuine. I recommend her greatly to anyone! read more

When I came to Dr Brisbane originally 10 plus years ago I was having issues and she took the time to understand my concerns. By this she was successful in diagnosing the issue and gave me relief. With prior doctors and clinics I felt they were more concerned on how many patients they can see in a day. I have been a patient of Dr. Brisbane's since she was at Rockwood and highly recommend both Dr. Brisbane and her new office. (I guess it's no longer "new.") Dr. Brisbane is simultaneously kind, yet also thorough and conscientious. Her staff is likewise very professional, yet always warm too. I feel I am treated as an individual there - not just a #. Dr. Brisbane makes clear she is aware of my other health issues which might affect my eyesight, which is greatly appreciated, as often with other medical care/specialists, I feel that I need to be the one who is "keeping the big picture in mind" (including how different issues correspond to each other).
