There's a large selection of luscious yarn, all the supplies you could need, the most giftable project bags and notions, and SO many completed projects to inspire your next one! Whether you've never knit before (they can suggest some starter supplies and the perfect beginner pattern) or you're practically a pro-- this place will have yarn and inspiration for you. Local ladies come in each day to sit around the table, work on their projects, admire each other's work, and offer help when someone is stuck. It's everything we knitters want it to be. Then you paint and give it to them when you're done & it takes about 4 days for you hem to get it backThey also have a bar and a little shop right inside and if you decide that you don't want to paint pottery they have other art you can do too like canvas painting or wood painting. Madeline Island School Of The Arts offers training for artists, quilters, photographers, and…read morewriters at both its main facility, in Wisconsin, and in satellite locations such as Bar Harbor, ME, Tucson, AZ, and Santa Fe, NM. I'm reviewing the writing class, held in Tucson, which was a disappointing experience. The teacher is clearly knowledgeable and holds one of the highest prizes in journalism. The training ostensibly focuses on how to improve one's writing from a conceptual level. You'll learn narrative structure and techniques, how to audit your own work, and be inspired by some great examples. But it's pretty clear the teacher would rather be doing something other than holding forth for a half-dozen people who are either aspiring authors or mid-career writers looking to improve their skills. The prickly personality and lack of engagement on display really took away from the experience. They seem world-weary and somewhat bitter. I got my money's worth, absolutely, even if the teacher was reading from their yellowed notes. But if you're going in looking to sit at the feet of an inspirational person, who will make you feel like they've read the material you submitted, displays enthusiasm about your work, and is prepared to share personal feedback, I advise looking elsewhere.
