However, I was intimidated to be starting from scratch. I had a million ideas and a yard full of bare, boring dirt! Miriam helped me uncover the purpose behind the project, so we could design a space that was both beautiful and functional. She has a deep understanding of what grows well in Prescott, and she was comfortable telling me "no" if a certain plant would not do well in a certain spot. Her top priority is to design a landscape where plants will thrive, and homeowners will feel successful. Throughout the project, she listened, asked great questions, and accommodated changes to incorporate our favorite flowers and veggies. With her flexibility and creativity, we were able to find plants that would "be a good fit" for each area of the yard. It was such a relief to have someone with deep knowledge of native, drought-tolerant, budget-friendly species for our exact microclimate. I was so impressed with her expertise, and she had so many thoughtful tips that could only be learned through her wealth of gardening experience in the area. First and foremost, Athena is honest -- both in her opinions and in how she runs her business. That meant a lot to us throughout the remodel. Athena has a wonderful eye for design. She listened carefully to our ideas and then put together thoughtful layouts of materials and finishes so we could see how everything would come together in the space.
