very nice peacefull break here.you can either stay in a caravan or camp out some caravans are…read morereally nice and fairly big. on site is a fish bar launderette indoor swimming pool decent size with a lifegaurd amusements cafe and a club sea front view. beautifull sea over here so clear and nice golden sand the sea is right next to the site you can access it going down a small slope and thier is also rocks to sit on or climb. the air over here is so pure and clear its guwjus. in barmouth town thier is a small fair its ok i suppose it keeps the kids happy and some shops too. also if you go out the site just down the road you can get to some waterfalls which is really nice and shell island aint too far away either theres lots ov shells for you to collect. and harlech castle is fun to visit too and the slatemines is another place not too far from the site. its a very relaxing hoilday so lovely. there is also a market that comes on down barmouth 2 days a week sorry i cant remember what days. its definatly worth visiting i enjoyed my stay here hope this helps thanks

I made my fourth visit to this site over a rather wet & windy August bank holiday & found the site…read moreas good as ever but with a few changes, some for the better, others not. The site is large & situated at the north end of Barmouth, close to the beach but also ideally situated for exploring Snowdonia. It is situated at the bottom of a cliff (warning, the access road is straight but fairly steep) & divided into 3 areas with camping at either end & caravan pitches in the middle. Facilities on the site are pretty good with the usual shop, take away, launderette & clean shower/toilet blocks. There is also a playground (which got a big thumbs up from my son). The Cambrian Coast Railway runs down one side of the site with the sandy beach & promenade on the other side of the tracks. These are easily accessible via a level crossing situated at one end of the site. From here it is a 15 - 20 minute walk into Barmouth. All in all a site that I have used in the past & no doubt will be using again. My only gripe is that two out of the three crossings across the railway have been closed since my last visit & if you are at the wrong end of the site its a bit of a trek to the one remaining crossing

An unsung gem of the Welsh countryside (you'd be amazed how many people haven't heard of this place…read more- don't remain one of them). Park up at the visitor centre (£1) and take a long relaxing walk along the dam's retaining wall - with picturesque views down across the lower valley - or for a much more enriching experience, park on the access road on the other side of the reservoir, which you'll find by taking the B4501 from Denbigh. Apart from having access to the forest walk, there's a plethora of Bronze Age remains - cairns and burial mounds, and a ritual temple - to be found on the well-signposted archaeological trail. Interestingly, only 20 people were ever buried at this location during a 500 year period. You eventually work your way round to the visitor centre, housing a free interpretative exhibition, with a handy cafe and a toilet complex, attached. Whatever the weather (and we've been there on the wintriest of days) it's a fascinatingly eerie (drowned villages always are, somehow) and beautiful spot.

The roadway around part of the Llyn makes for easy walking for beginners but for the more adventurous there are plenty of other pathways too. A great place to cycle too if that's your bag.

It was my first time in a traditional hostel so i was unsure of what to expect. The decor is a little alarming on the first floor, but the rooms and communal areas are clean, free from smells, and feel homely. When you look at the price you pay to stop in a YHA anything more than that really is a complete and total bonus. I'd stop there again without hesitation.

The staff are friendly and helpful and the communal lounge is a great place to chill out at night and have a game of cards - wifi available in the lounge. You can order dinner / breakfast at a reasonable price or use the self catering communal kitchen if you like. The washrooms are clean and well kept as was our dormitory room - it slept 6 in bunks and we had it to ourselves. Clean, fresh linen is provided and you can hire towels should you wish. The only downside was that the rooms were just so hot that it was a little uncomfortable to sleep - I noticed that a few rooms had their doors propped open with their bins. Overall, an impressive youth hostel.

Gilfach Goch (Red Hollow) Farm is a self-catering, three bedroom Cottage that sleeps 5 but on the…read moresame farm there is a four bedroom converted barn conversion that sleeps eight. It is a grade 2 listed 400 year old traditional Welsh Farm house situated in heart of the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales. The cottage is oak beamed with slate floors on a 60 acre Welsh hill farm overlooking the sea and Shell Island. It has a Crog loft with 3 interconnecting bedrooms and a bathroom. Down stairs there is a living room with wood burning stove, a dinning room (with a wood burning stove) and a modern fitted kitchen. The cottage is secluded and approached down a 1/2 mile private drive, yet it is only a mile from the village of Llanbedr. The Barn Conversion named Ty Gwenol sleeps eight.. This is a conversion of two barns dating from the 17th century with many original features and extensive exposed beams and oak floor. It has a large modern farmhouse kitchen/diner and the lounge has the original high barn ceiling with the exposed A frame timbers. There are 4 twin bedrooms in all. Bedroom 1 is upstairs in the main barn and has exposed beams. Bedroom 2 is situated downstairs has an adjoining shower room with wash basin and toilet. Bedroom 3 is in the new extension. Bedroom 4 has a high original oak beamed ceiling with an ensuite shower room, washbasin and toilet. This bedroom also features a kitchenette and is the room we often choose if available as this also has its own separate entrance. There is also a full sized bathroom with shower over the bath. Outside is a patio area and lawned garden overlooking farmland and the coast. Through the woods to the back is a large stone circled fire pit and if you ask Roger and Lesley nicely you may even get an night under the stars round a camp fire. There is parking for 3 cars I will be totally transparent and say this farm is owned by a member of my family and although you may expect a little bias, I am reviewing this after staying in all of the parts of the farm, talking to countless guests and hoping that others more unconnected with the family will back this review up. Many of the people I have met staying at the same time as me have been there before, booking once or twice a year and returning regularly. I think the accommodation is great value for money, the surroundings beautiful and the spot is a great base for exploring North Wales. Should you also want to do some adventure activities, Roger and Les can cater there too!

A fantastic setting and an equally impressive dining experience. The Brigands Inn is a large place, with a variety of different types of areas to dine, including luxurious leather sofas, conventional restaurant tables and a 'Snug'. Probably the biggest snug I've ever been in though, with comfortable sofas, a great place to relax and wile away a few hours. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the menu is comprehensive with many daily specials. The food is freshly prepared and tasty, and of a reasonable price. But the best thing about the Brigands Inn has to be the feeling of space and relaxation. If I didn't live 100 miles away, I would definitely be a regular!
